- The brand new Bentley GT Speed turns out to be quite the surprise! Not only is it the luxurious Bentley grand tourer, but a veritable weapon on the tarmac of the Silverstone circuit. While not the location you'd expect for a first drive, it very quickly becomes apparant why Bentley brought the GT Speed here!
When you think of a Bentley Continental GT, you think of a luxury grand tourer, not exactly lightweight thanks to the high quality of materials, and a car you'd cruise in down the motorway for endless miles. With the GT Speed, you might think that will make it slightly more powerful and perhaps a touch more dynamic... wrong! The newest generation of Continental GT to wear the Speed designation turns out to be quite the capable machine around the tarmac of an F1 circuit.
Powered by the 6.0l twin turbo W12 making 650hp and 900Nm, it's capable of the 0-62mph (100km/h) sprint in 3.6s and on to a top speed of 208mph (335km/h) - impressive numbers however you look at it. However what they don't tell you, is that despite being 2,300kg it can still absolutely get a move on around track. For the GT Speed, Bentley have introduced numerous new elements of technology; from an electronic limited slip diff on the rear axle, to rear wheel steering and a new advanced ESC with numerous opportunities to have some fun... which is exactly what I did!
After a quick walkaround in the pit lane, let's get out on track to see what the new Bentley GT Speed is all about, having quickly gone from "Why are we at Silverstone?" to, "Oh, I get it now!".

Never did I think that a Bentley would be able to do this! The new 2021 GT Speed not only goes 208mph, but thanks to a host of tech introductions, also happens to be quite the track surprise. What do you think of it?!

You just came In clutch so hard lol. I saw one a few days ago in the Reston Town Center here in VA and wanted to watch a review because I love how it looks and might buy one in the future. The sparkles in the headlights are absolutely incredible as well.

The visual upgrades are what does it for me. The little black accents around the head lights really make them look 30 times better and give them some context within the nose of the car. The cutout along the rocker panels with the stripe looks sporty and not out of place. Really like this car.

I owned a 04 continental from 2016-2018 thibk I got lucky with it because it was pretty damn reliable. Heard horror stories about old used Bentleys but I think I lucked out with it. I miss the sound of the W12

Beautiful car. As it’s on a F1 circuit, would be lovely to see that become the regular F1 safety car and doctor’s car.
All those laps at the Ring really turned Shmee into a capable driver.
I remember a few years ago at the Nurburgring Mischa was giving Shmee a driving lesson & one thing he said really stuck with me & that was the more you upset the the balance of the car at speed the less efficient the car gets, or words to that affect. So basically the smoother you are, the faster your overall lap time will be.

I’m going to drive the car “in anger”could cause you trouble in court, we’re you speeding? “No,” “I was driving in anger.” I’m used to hearing I had my foot buried in the oil pan. The Lincoln has a similar looking grill. I really like the look of this new Speed model Bentley. 👍👍

After seeing the stunning 812 the other day, is the new 812 competizione, or even any 812 have the potential to be a new future shmeemobile?
Heard this hits 60 in 3.5 sec. Incredible for a super heavy coupe. Along with a McLaren 765LT, Porsche GT3, Lamborghini Huracan EVO, and Ferrari 812 Superfast......this Bentley would be in my top 5 picks for a lottery car.
