How do you piss off a squirrel? Stand under it and videotape it until it gets annoyed and runs off. Listen to this squirrel warning me to back off! They will also make this warning noise if a cat or anything else they consider threatening is near.

When I was eating breakfast outside this morning I heard this call coming from the tree above me. I thought it was a bird at first. I was curious as to what bird had such an obnoxious call. So I got up and found a squirrel perched on the branch. I couldn’t help but laugh, I’d never heard a squirrel make this noise 😂 he must have been angry that I didn’t share my breakfast.

I just played this sound for a mad squirrel that has been routinely calling outside our window for the past few days now, and every time from where he is I can visibly see him making the call.
I wanted him to pipe down a bit, so I first tried getting his attention by rolling the window back and forth, which worked but he didn’t stop squawking XDD
So then I played this sound for him as he was looking at me, and for precisely 3 calls in the video, he responded back flawlessly in time a second later XD Like he was actually speaking back to that audio. And then after the third time, he seemed to become confused by this, surely because he’s not used to hearing back talk from an invisible squirrel XD
He sat there for about 3 minutes, never squawking again, before leisurely hopping off. 🤣 I bet he was a bit stunned by this experience.
