Tips: 1. It's really great you have the excitement and optimism. Always have that attitude since the Philippines can be a challenge to tourists who are from developed countries. It's important to have patience and spirit. 2. Being half Filipino, you are expected to be aware of some etiquettes, norms, or perculiarities that are unique in our culture. You are already seen as part of "ours". 3. Don't be afraid to be expressive when you need to say or do something. We are a very expressive culture. If they keep answering to you in local language because they somehow feel you're Filipino, tell them that you can only speak to them in English. If you have discomforts or need help, feel free to reach out. 4. It will be noisier, hotter, and more crowded than usual. 5. If you're not that exposed to Filipino food, then set aside your idea of Asian food. We have one of the most unique pallette, avoid comparing it to more popular cuisines. By the way our food is mostly not spicy and many have that savory-sweet-umami mixture, and we always prefer them fresh. Be very open when it comes to food. 6. Always be alert and think of safety and security. If you feel like getting scammed always be careful and ask for legal basis each time you feel off about your transactions here. Always ask someone you trust. 7. Be prepared to see developing country dramas, but don't let that ruin your experience. The Philippines has more to offer and many tourists here tend to focus on how poor we are as a country and forget they're here to enjoy instead of to cry. 8. Remember you're part of the family already, you're not just a tourist. Be yourself and open yourself to plenty of learning experiences.

Mixed Filipinos are loved and even adored in the Philippines. Learning the Filipino language will definitely be a plus and that is something you can easily learn if you stay here. While you are trying to learn the language, you can get by with English. Just try to learn the language slowly but surely. Hello Monica, have a safe trip and no worries about your Tagalog; most people speak English, especially in Manila. I will be taking my 2 mestiza daughters in November for the first time and they only speak a few words in Tagalog. Safe travels! ....

Going to Pangasinan alone might take 3 days to get along with relatives! Maybe you can stretch your time a bit but you’ll gonna get too tired travelling! A week long trip to the Philippines could probably limit your stay in Manila - and maybe a side trip to Pangasinan perhaps add Baguio for a taste of the local experience. Enjoy! 😎🤙
Hey Monica, get ready for some fun! You’re in luck because the typhoon season is over, so your timing is perfect. I thought about sharing some hidden gems, but since you’re new here, let’s focus on the popular spots first. You have to check out Boracay, Siargao, Bohol, Palawan, and the must-see areas in Metro Manila like BGC, Intramuros, and Makati-they’re the highlights of the Philippines. Just a little heads up: you might have to trade in some of those cushy European travel perks. Getting around the Philippines can be like watching a snail race on a bumpy road-challenging and occasionally hilarious, even for the seasoned travelers. So, keep smiling, be friendly with the locals, and don’t forget to keep a close eye on your stuff when you’re out and about. I can’t wait to hear what you think of the Philippines!
Go to Pangasinan... Hundred Islands and at least Bolinao... then go farther north... especifically Vigan and Sand Dunes in Ilocos... Then Baguio... I will also recommend Caramoan Island or Calaguas in Bicol Region over Boracay... or El Nido and Coron in Palawan
