    ye, the only reason you'd buy the p1 is for the CNC parts like the wheel bracket. That can be bought separately though. Their GT2 is plenty enough in terms of stiffness actually. I've seen motion rigs with just single slot profiles and they seem to do fine

    Hi again RB, i said i would let you know when all my gear arrived, and well it all arrived last monday 25\6\18. All my sim steering kit i picked up from birmingham a few days ago. I opted for the Martin Asher button plate and a Motomec D shape 320mm rim plus the very nice Q1R quick release. I cannot tell you the amount of trouble i am having with Simlabs. They left some crucial custom bits off the order that we spoke about for quite some time. When that eventually arrived i thought i would take a look at the whole cockpit, as you know it's been a very hot couple of weeks and i just was not bothered after a days work but i thought i must check everything, and to my amazement there were a lot of other pieces missing, like the 6 handles for the pedal tray, a complete set of M6 T-nuts missing. corner brackets missing and a few other pieces. I got in touch with them and for some reason they are not replying like they were before. its like they just don't want to know. I asked them 2 days ago if they have sent me all the missing pieces but have had no reply, no tracking number, nothing. I have lost all my faith in simlabs and its put a big downer on the whole thing. i can't even finish the build. Anyway sorry mate to moan and bitch but i just wondered how did you get on with them when you had missing items

    • @AdamsSIMporium
      @AdamsSIMporium  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh man sorry to hear that. I actually am still awaiting an item from them! The keyboard tray did arrive, but still not received the actual shifter mount I order months ago. They have always been pretty good at replying though, so not sure what that is about. Each time they kinda laughed it off saying it's not uncommon for them to mispackage or whatever, which is a bit weird. I honestly do not understand why they don't have a checklist they tick off for each customer and don't send it out until it's ticked off. At least you can use the M8 bolys and slot nuts instead of the plastic handles for now, I don't use them at all.

    • @menacegtr
      @menacegtr 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow didn't know you have been waiting that long. I need the pedal handels as there are a few others who will be using my rig so adjusting them would be a lot easier and faster, plus the tilt function is great. I was going to ask you, do you know anywhere else in the uk apart from Motedis` were i can get the correct slot nut M6\m8 size. I cannot mount my pedals, monitor, or the buttkickers to the profile. Motedis charge an absolute fortune for postage. I just need about 25\30 M6 slot nut then i can complete this thing.

    • @AdamsSIMporium
      @AdamsSIMporium  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I don't know anywhere, I have been lucky that I had enough nuts from Sim Lab plus a few spare. Sadly 80/20 and accessories are a lot harder to get hold of here than elsewhere. Imagine how awesome it would be to walk in to somewhere like B&Q and instead of wood, taking 80/20 off shelf having cut to size etc, you could build a rig like nothing.
      You can buy from UK based eBay sellers, looking at nearly a pound a nut though ridiculously, but you may have no choice.

    • @menacegtr
      @menacegtr 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Raging Beard .Yes it would be great to get it anywere, however I have today been looking hard for the M6 slot nuts and to my amazement I have found a supplier of profile in Leicester, thats about 10 miles so I am ringing Monday and picking them up. I just hope they have plenty as I will get loads. I again tried to email simlabs but nothing back. I can tell you I am well pissed off with them

Can i ask you, is it ok to PM you if i need any advice on this rig as i am about to get the exact same rig, also the Heusinkveld Sim Pedals Pro and a SW28 (28Nm Direct Drive Wheel) i already have the DSD short throw pro sequential shifter, although i don't know how i am going to mount that to the P1. Great looking rig and i cannot wait to get all my gear and see how good the G25 was

      Of course sure you can PM or ask here, I don't mind. I wish I had gone for the HE pedals, though the Fanatec V3's are awesome and will serve me well for a while.
      I don't know how that shifter mounts but it will not be difficult. Worst case scenario you would have to buy a few more short lengths, maybe use a bit of MDF like I did at first, where there's a will there's a way!

    Hey fella, a few questions maybe too personal to answer back, but here it goes,
    What seat are you using? How tall and how much do you weigh? Is the seat comfy for long sessions for you, you seem about the build as me.
    I might be slightly bigger, but you can never tell with vids. Are you using any transducers? And if you haven't already git yourself on IRacing bud 👍

    • @AdamsSIMporium
      @AdamsSIMporium  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I am using the Sparco REV II, which is the larger version for larger (fatter) people. I am 5'10-5'11" and I am currently in fat bastard proportions weighing in at about 16 and a half stone. The seat is extremely comfortable, I have nodded off in it during extensive sessions.
      I got the seat as a package deal with the P1, being one piece fibreglass, Sparco, and FIA approved, I am sure it's not the cheapest option for a sim rig, but I love it.
      My free 3 months on iRacing just ran out. I am holding off on subscribing again as I think I would have liked to of gone the GT3 route, but I may as well see what ACC brings to the table, plus cars and tracks for a season are over £200 or so lol. But the racing was good and VR works really well, so I am definitely tempted to return.

    • @JuiceSkyy
      @JuiceSkyy 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers fella, seems we are about the same weight and iam just a few inches shorter, so now thats kinda put me in a happier place, but yeah like wise still a fat git lol.
      I was looking at the GRID II seat that is not currently shown on their site, and the reasoning for going with this seat was because i know sometime in the future i will be going motion, and the GRID II will seem like it will hold you in a bit more.
      You can still go down the tin top route in iRacing and it wouldnt really take you long to get there, and as you know its the other idiots that prevent you from getting there quicker.... "that's racing".
      Well hope to see you in iRacing sometime fella, keep up the content with your videos as I'am liking what your doing so far. And if you see me on track gimmie a shout... Juice

      Sparco is breaking my brain - I'm shopping for a seat but Sparco quote dimensions of 330mm at the hips, which is just not human sized and obviously bollocks. It's making it impossible to choose one.

    Hi again Ragin. I said i would let you know what rim i settled on, its this one
    www.simtechracing.co.uk/products/steering-wheels
    It is the SRC PRO with the sli display
    I will be upgrading the coiled usd for a much thick better quality one straight away, plus replace the knitter lookalikes for proper knitters from Leo Bobnar. It was close between this and the Asher racing button box. I have also just ordered a GTX 1080 to replace my nice but aging 970. Won't be to long now It will be nearly 4\5 weeks since i ordered the P1 Rig but have made a few custom changes which Darko said need making and plating in silver

    • @AdamsSIMporium
      @AdamsSIMporium  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice one, rim looks really good and I was looking at them before too, but for VR use I don't need the disco lights lol. Enjoy the 1080, max those settings out!
      So what mods are they doing to your P1 then? Sounds interesting.

    • @menacegtr
      @menacegtr 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Raging Beard I was going to ask you about that rim, so glad it meets your approval. I use an f1 rim like that with sli display, makes knowing when to change gear easily, as for the mods, I suffer with massive motion sickness so cannot use VR or 3 screens so sim labs are making me a custom single monitor mount different to the one they sell. Plus I am having 4 custom buttkicker plates made to mount and slide into the side rail tracks, plus all have to be plated. Not sure what to do about speakers, I use 5.1 at moment, how have you got round it, mounting them? i was thinking of using my headphones to safe messing with all that exa cabling i would need to do. Yea the 1080 will be handy for a nice 32" 144hz. I have already been persecuted for not going VR but i just can't cope with MS. I tried a while back, the shop i got it from was kind enough to take it back
      Dave

    • @AdamsSIMporium
      @AdamsSIMporium  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't use speakers generally as the Vive has headphones on them. I have thought about 5.1 though and the fronts would connect to the risers for the wheel, the rears I would buy more aluminium to make L shapes to sit behind at ear level. No idea where the center one would go! Headphones are a lot easier!!
      I have now mounted a 43" 4k screen to my rig for games like Wreckfest which do not support VR. I just use its inbuilt speakers at the moment, they aren't great but will suffice until if/when I come up with an alternative.
      Look forward to seeing you rig when it's done, particularily what you are doing with the Buttkickers.

    • @menacegtr

    I've just come from your Playseat Challenge video! You say just what I'm thinking about that modular aluminium box section. It's quite easy to accurately cut box sections (i.e. with a cheap evolution saw and made up jig) yourself, and I guess your off-the-shelf pricing included the cutting to length in the price. I wonder how much it would cost for just the material alone.
    I don't know if Sim Lab could have put a bit more effort into making this into a product, rather than a bunch of aluminium channel with some sharp edges and missing parts. I bet it's as rigid as you can get though - it certainly looks it. Thanks for your honesty.

    • @AdamsSIMporium
      @AdamsSIMporium  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, thanks for commenting. I priced that all up at Motedis, their charge per cut I think is only about 75p. Though cutting yourself would mean you can be very precise in what you need plus give you offcuts which could prove useful for any additions.
      I bought the bundle from Sim Lab which included the Sparco seat, so I suppose the actual rig itself cost me maybe 700 Euros, which isn't a whole lot more to be fair.
      Sim Lab was quite frank and honest saying they made mistakes packing things together due to rushing to fulfill so many orders. They were quick to respond so I would recommend them to anyone looking for a complete cockpit solution.
      Good luck with your build!

    • @MichaelDisney
      @MichaelDisney 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, I guess my comment came off as negative through my thinking out loud, but the material and construction seem excellent and this would make the most rigid, adjustable and adaptable rig possible. Have you managed to sort it out. Plus the one big question is, does that rig flex any with that wheel? I am going to say not a chance. I am going to be adding my 4 buttkickers i have on my rig now so i am hoping for less rattle noise then what's coming through at the moment. It looks very solid so may give my BK's a better much harder cleaner thump. I think i will be getting intouch with you soon as it looks like i have the same setup apart from the pedals
    dave

    • @AdamsSIMporium
      @AdamsSIMporium  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      EMI for me has been, and still is, a nuisance. Currently mostly solved by wrapping foil around the motor power cable and grounding it, but it's not perfect! SimPlicity though will be taking it back and sending out another, they said in the 500+ units they have built, they have never known EMI like it. Just my luck I guess.
      As for flex, well there's probably more flex in the Great Wall of China. This rig laughs in the face of flex. It's more rigid than a rigid thing on steroids. It's probably overkill, I'm sure the 40x160 pieces aren't really necessary lol.
      Just put aside a good number of hours to build it! This wheel and rig combo truly is awesome. I do need to invest in buttkickers too at some point.
