Just found out my uncle James Hale pass away in his sleep. He lived in Birmingham, Alabama. I stayed my summers with him and he enjoyed watching the music scene all over the South! This song was his text tone or ringtone . We would be driving and his phone would go off and his phone played the chorus , One day I finally asked “what song is that?” I was Into hip hop/rap. So his memory and his love for real music and his legacy and influence on my life brought me here may his name live on for ever ! Thanks for readings this. Life is so short, squash any problems you have with anybody, before you never get to tell them how much you loved them! Now let the good time roll!! *clicks repeat * ... *tries to sing along to a song I barely know *! RIP James B. Hale, my best friend, love you! I’m sorry for everything! 7-10-2020🙏🙏🙏😇😇😇💔💔

I'm a Londoner that met and married an amazingly beautiful Californian girl back in the late 80's. She introduced me to this song and I will always remember the good times we shared whenever I hear this
This song was so profound when I 1st heard it,it also scared me, especially the line...gonna kick tomorrow...I have finally beaten my addiction but this song still brings back those times with rose tinted glasses, thank you Mr P Farrell for such a provocative and moving song.
I really liked their sound when i heard it on our local rock station 15 years ago or so(am 30) I remember going home and researching what the lyrics meant because i had a feeling "kick tomorrow" had some deeper meaning behind it. It sort of opened my eyes to how much emotion and intellect actually goes into great music like Jane's Addiction produced.
The thing I love about this song in particular is that it feels like I'm hearing a very sad but intimate story regarding this poor gal Jane and I hear all the frustration in her choice of words. This song is one of my all time favorites.
It's a reflection of my own life, from times past...I love to cover this when i play a show or grab a slot at open mic. All the hurt that i carried so long comes out and Perry understands. My friends now lost and me still here, alone. Who's better off? I'm gonna quit tomorrow.
