Hi Jeff. How tall was that Lamb Hass that your neighbor has? By chance do you know how many years old it is? That tree can feed a lot of people, can't it?
Another great video, Jeff. I’ve been watching your avocado videos for a while and they are encouraging. I finally purchased a Lamb Hass and a Sir Prize for my place in 9B. Thanks for the inspiration!
Man, those Lamb Hass are so huge, you put two side by side and you're basically looking at the Incredible Hulks nutsack! They should rename it Hulknuts Hass Avocado.
Keep your trees lower, max 3 to 4M. Here in SOCAL the Santa Ana Winds will rip tall avo trees. Plus it's a bear to try to pick tall avo trees. Thx for all the videos.
Interesting, I could be wrong but those Lamb look like Sir Prize. Sir Prize avos get bigger than Lamb and have those long ridges which extend to the top with a very similar flavor to Lamb. I have a good crop of Lamb this year but mine look more rounded here in January and are not ready until the summer.
@@TropicalGardenGuy I am not sure since I don't have one. I know Gragg has one and says it's a winter fruit if I remember correctly. A fruit stand in Walnut Creek uses to carry them in the winter, they look identical but turn black. I just posted a video of my Lamb on my channel. I think I am about 50 miles away.
Just checked and Gary has a video of his Sir Prize as ground cover. In this video we can see the ridges we were discussing. th-cam.com/video/EcFuMd8COZQ/w-d-xo.html&feature=shares
Damn, those were some impressive avocados Jeff, unfortunately we cant buy fresh fruit that big, our store bought Hass look exactly like your store bought Hass 😂. I'm trying to grow seedlings to a size that I hope I can graft a decent fruiting scion onto 🤞
@@TropicalGardenGuy amazingly enough considering how far they have to ship them, at current exchange rates, depending on size of the fruit and the time of year, the price varies between 75 cents to $1.50 Occasionally small independent fruit shops have green skinned varieties on offer such as Fuerte, Ettinger or Bacon , they tend to be around £ 1.00 each ( $1.30 )
Great content. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. I have avocado trees in my backyard that I grew from seeds. I want to graft scion onto my trees. Can you sell me scions of the big black?
Check out these huge Lamb hass avocados. There are some problems when the tree sets more fruit than the tree can hold.

Thanks for everything Jeff! It's very exciting to see what's possible up here. If I ever get more land I will definitely grow one!

How much do you pay for Hass?

Hi Jeff,
Could you please list your recommendations for zone 9b for avocados?
Mexicola is a good hardy avocado that ripens in aug-sept
@@TropicalGardenGuy Any other ones? I'm up near Sacramento !
How is the taste of the huge Lamb Hass compared to store bought regular Hass avocados?
I had several last season, they were excellent!
@@TropicalGardenGuy Great, I'll have to order a Lamb Hass tree next spring!
Are those ridges on the avocado typical on Lamb Hass?
I don’t know.
Perhaps someone with more experience with this variety will answer your question
Sir Prize has those ridges.
Jeff, How do you grow Coconut tree? My one is dead by frost.
Mine died before jan 1st
