Im experiencing this right now to a degree in my room. I built 8 BDA’s for my room (insulation fill, dont hurt me Dennis!) I have a pair of cheap m-audio 5 inch monitors. The cutoff/roll off on the speakers is 53 hz. But in my room/placement I can hear down to 33hz while playing a sine wave tone. You’d think there were two perfectly balanced subs in here. AF design principles rock!

As I'm sitting here in my studio, listening to you through m Focal Shape 65s (6.5" LFD), you're answering a question I've had for years. Thank you.

    I have a question:
I am a mixer, and thinking about ditching my sub. My nearfields can go down to 37Hz, but if I flipped the 50Hz high pass switches on them, they wouldn't produce some problematic frequencies that create high pressure areas in my small room. That way the upper frequencies could be more even. Is this a correct way of thinking?

Its a start. You must treat all the low-frequency issues first and foremost.

Hey so I just watched the reverberation video, and I was wondering, for a mixing room, what reverb time do you recomend,
For my experience I can say the shorter time the better(for mixing rooms), but it seems you dont agree, why is that?

Rt-30/60 times are subjective within given time ranges. For mix, our clients like 1 - 1.75 sec.

I monitor on 12 inch speakers. I can't work on those small speakers.

Everyone has different preferences. This is what makes the industry so fun to work in. Every engineer is different in methodology and even gear. We see speaker size ranging from 3" - 12".

Acoustic Fields I just like to be able to turn it up every now and then to see what I have at loud volumes. I find small speakers struggle with that.

Acoustic Fields yeah, that's why live PA systems use 5 inch speakers 🙄 If you want to move air, you need larger speakers.
