My Father could have been a professional whistler. He sounded just like this, one of my favorite songs too! Although you're no longer here Dad, I wish you a very Happy Birthday! Thanks for all the whistles!
@@MJ-dq8ikThanks for the correction. I was less then 10 years old. Only thing I remember was the whistling of the title song. I was a huge John Wayne fan as a child. Not so much after I became a teen, when Clint Eastwood became my favorite.
I dedicate this heavenly music (and whistling) in very loving memory of my heavenly-resplendent Ma (Helen) who liked songs/music accompanied by whistling. Likewise for my truly amazing Pop (Blaine). I miss them both beyond what mere words could ever convey. I love them beyond Time. That certainly goes for my beloved wife (Barb) as well. Ma, Pop and Barb, wait and watch for me from your home in Glory with Jesus. I'll be with all of you and many others -- soon enough.
1954: One of several covers of the Oscar-winning theme. Les Baxter's was the biggest of the bunch, hitting #1 Ned Washington put words to Dimtri Tiomkin's music and it was added to the soundtrack, too late though for Academy consideration I prefer it straight from the movie.
Nothing like a good whistler!
Thanks, Muzzy! 🫡
This was my Dad's favourite movie - he used to whistle the song when I was a wee girl. Nice memories . . .
Saw the movie at 12. Have enjoyed it many times since. The MUSIC was inspirational and repeatable even by a kid.
Saw it at age 8. Dad made this song my practice whistling song.

My mother could, she would be at the sink doing dishes whistling this, how’d she do that? She had beautiful singing voice too.
My Dad could whistle just like this and it was beautiful! Today is Dad’s heavenly birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD! You were a great guy! 😚😗😙❤🎂🎈🎁🎉🎊🌈😘♥️
Have not heard this since I was a kid watching the John Wayne war movie. It is the only thing I remember from the movie.
Anyone else?
Just to clarify not a war movie - one of the earliest air disaster films
