I literally open this course set when I feel my brain is too fried from learning Chemistry. In one side, I am still studying (no time wasted), in other side, laoshi voice is so calming and relaxing, and the lesson is understandable that it gives me the reassurance that my brain still works fine. So, Laoshi, my brain thanks you.

The way lao shi explains the rules and examples are so confortable to listen to. I'm so glad that I got this channel recommendation from a teacher that teaches Chinese in my country. This course really keeps me learning Chinese systematically and so far I did not find these lessons boring. BTW lao shi accent sounds so pleasant. Duo xie ni le.

    I have a question:
When we pronounce "ying", do we have to pronounce the sound "y" (like "y" in "yard" in English)? Or we just say "ing"? I'm really confused by many Chinese words starting by "y". For example, we pronounce "y" in "yang" but don't pronounce "y" in "yi"

Google translates 'chinese language' with (中文 zhōngwén) [[in the sentence 我会说中文 Wǒ huì shuō zhōngwén]]. What does that one word 中文 'zhōngwén' mean, and where is different from 'Hàn yŭ'?
    Thanks/谢谢,

There are two major Chinese dialects. Cantonese and Mandarin. The one you are learning now is Mandarin Chinese, aka the simplified version of Chinese. Cantonese is the traditional Chinese that was used for centuries before. Mandarin came around because people wanted to simplify the writing system. With that happening if you even try and ready Cantonese you won't understand anything if you speak mandarin and vise versa. That is why they are considered to be different languages by some experts

This is what I'm wondering too. In most languages it would be the same as in English, thus it would be much easier to learn it and say it that way.
