Yes, Yuqi is known for her deep voice! Nowadays, there are a few more female idols with deep voices, but Yuqi was really a breath of fresh air a few years back. Honestly, this entire group is a breath of fresh air when it comes to girl groups. They (mostly Soyeon but also Minnie and Yuqi) write and compose all of their music, they come up with a lot of their stage ideas, and they know how to tell a story. Never seen a girl group as talented and self sufficient as them. They built themselves, not their (useless) company.

Soyeon is one of the best rappers in K-pop, not just one of the best female rappers. She know what she does.
That's Soyeon. Yes, she raps - in fact, she's probably the best female K-pop rapper of her time. Also, she sings. Also, conceives, writes and composes and co-produces almost all of their songs, assigns parts in accordance to each of the members' capabilities and voices... She is, in a word, a genius. She also has several songs and a solo album, multiple appearances on survival shows, lends her voice to Akali in the virtual League of Legends group K/DA, and more. She is very worth paying attention to. Other members are also very talented: several of them have started writing and producing as well, some are comediennes, actresses, MCs, radio show hosts...
Regarding the MV: As far as I can tell, the MV works on two levels. On one level it is deeply symbolic story of innocence, temptation and fall into depravity. Soojin, blonde in this video, has been confirmed to be a seductress demon, and the other girls her victims. She is bound by the purple straps, then gets free. Some resist her charm and remain pure, some fight her off but are tarnished in the struggle, some fall for her and fall hard. As you noted, there's all this Christian imagery, the white of heaven and red of hell, the crosses, the apple, the Latin, the wine/blood, everything in the video works to support this storyline.
On another level, it seems to be a social commentary. The name of the album this song is on is I Trust, and Soyeon has said that it is about staying true to oneself, even under adversity. While the girls have never said so directly outside the lyrics, it seems to paint a picture of lesbian love, particularly in a restrictive, conservative society (such as South Korea). The chorus, in English, uses "she", and even in Korean parts (specifically Soyeon's rap verse) the female pronoun is used (which is not really used in natural Korean, except when you want to be absolutely clear on the gender, like in translations). The song also has an English version, which is much more explicit (though it wasn't written by Soyeon, but by the translator, so one can have doubts about how closely it follows her intention). The height of this storyline is in Soyeon's verse, I feel. People sometimes think that she is in a toxic relationship, and that she is trying to get away in order not to get hurt by the other person. I interpret it differently: what she is afraid of is the pressure of the society to conform. Her cry is basically "why could I not have fallen in love with someone I will not be judged over?" She tries to deny her feelings, but in the end accepts that this is who she is, this is what she feels, and she should trust herself over whatever anyone else thinks. Even if she ends up suffering, love is worth it.
I also think that the title is just trolling Nevies (fans). Because almost everyone ends up saying "Oh my god!" when they see it. And then they'll laugh self-consciously. Just how transparent are we, to Soyeon? :) Both this and Lion are film-making masterpieces, really: pure art.
Still, my number one is Put It Straight (Nightmare version) performance on Queendom. The best stage of anything I have ever seen so far, ever.
I thought the Lion stage competed pretty well with Put It Straight. But anyway, this is a great post you have! :)
@@jamescurfman3284 Absolutely did. The intro, the rap, the strut, and most of all all the backup dancer animals following the lions at the end. Lion was spectacular and absolutely blew me away. Just... Put It Straight blew me away more.
Where Lion is a spectacle, literally, like Ben Hur or something, Put It Straight is pure emotion (with an unhealthy dose of horror added in). Lion cost more money; Put It Straight (Nightmare version) cost more sanity, I feel. If that makes any sense. The acting is superb. Soojin... ㅠㅠ
And while Lion is an almost perfectly composed song, I think it still pales in comparison to what she did with rearranging Put It Straight. To see a music composition major majorly geek over what Soyeon did there, "(G)I-DLE's Put It Straight: A Successful Re-imagining | Classical Composer Breaks Down the K - 7" - really eye-opening, even if your music theory is not that great, as he explains his reasoning very well.

@@jamescurfman3284 Of course! :D It's definitely good, but I still prefer the Queendom version. You can see the choreo better in the Halloween version (like Yuki's shoulder thing doing the horror choppy movement, and the dancers being dragged), but I think the costumes take away some of the performance and the feeling from the Queendom version. In one, I can feel the pain and the rage and the heartbreak; in the other, there's Joker being spoopy. :)
That girl who's the rapper is also the groups' leader, composer, lyricist, producer and recently she's even dabbled in performance director/promotional marketing too! that's jeon soyeon, the true ace of kpop! everyone thinks that one day she will open her own ent company. Soyeon wrote, produced and composed Oh My God (as well as most of gidle's discography). as a matter of fact 'low voice girl', yuqi and 'oh she's pretty' girl minnie are also a part of the 'producer line' in gidle and have written/composed/produced songs themselves as well. here's some song suggestions!

and yes!! i am pragmatic and realize that defamation lawsuits can take YEARS to solve in court, so even though soojin is innocent it will take time to properly clear her name to the south korean public, i trust that if soyeon made her own company, soojin would be back in idle and thriving!! unfortunately, it seems like soojin is locked into her contract with cube and so are the other idle girlies until 2025ish TTTT

How it can put a spell on you, make you feel intensely happy, scared, sad, music can do it all. I wouldn't be able to show this song to my parents tho. 'cause of the "Oh My God" bit . If you want to see other "sides" to this story/song, check out the ENGLISH Version (part of Bside) since they became more bold in the lyrics. Check out the JAPANESE Version MV as well, yes they created another MV for the Japanese Ver.. They also have a Special Choreo which is just cute.
The SOYEON (rapper) wrote, composed, and produced most of their songs, and she tailor fit the parts for her members. MINNIE ( girl with braids) naturally has velvety voice. SOYEON said during one interview that they all liked her voice during their trainee days, however, her problem is the Korean language (MINNIE is Thai). So, SOYEON made parts for MINNIE that sounded like English so that she can sing it easier and smoother.
SOME INFO:
-All of the theories and representations that we came up with are all correct since there were no wrong answers. When Soyeon wrote this song, she said that she wanted it to be so vague that the listeners will think about the story and meaning. most common theories were forbidden/toxic love, lgbt love, and even biblical. Soyeon wanted the people to ask "What does she meant by that?" or "What was she thinking while writing this?". And she's so damn right. Up until now the girls haven't told the real meaning of the song.
-About the "her, she, woman" in the story, Soyeon said that it does not directly represents a woman. She said that you can replace the "she" into any temptations that you can think of. She also added "Music should not be bound by gender since music is for everyone." (non-verbatim).
-The theme of the album is "I-TRUST" and obvi this is the title track. The album have 2 concepts: TRUE Ver. (Black) and LIE Ver. (White). Like you said, these colors represents them and the people around them. They said that these are the way you view yourself vs. how the people see you. Whether you're lying to them or to yourself, and who are you going to TRUST. And what ever your decision is, you should trust it fully, even others doesn't approve.
-Following to that, they said that the TRUE ver. (Black) are those things we often hide to others since it is dark, not acceptable, and just frowned upon if not taboo. Whereas the LIE ver. (White) are those lies we show to other so they will like and "trust" us. It is a quest for each one of us to choose which color should we choose and show, either to fully clothe ourselves in those versions.
-Soyeon composed the sound still connected to the storytelling. She build the verse and pre-chorus up and up, just like the hype and heat of relationship. And then the super drop on chorus, like you just realized that what you're doing with your "temptation" is wrong, and you felt guilty about it. That's why the last chorus don't have that drop since they have already accepted it in 3rd verse (AB IMO PECTORE), and became a hype to them. Also, if you can frame-pause on the images, you can catch some frames that can add spice to the story.
-During Soyeon's rap part, notice her facial expressions (most in glitch cuts) as part of their visual storytelling. She goes from being reluctant, but smiling and grinning from inside.
SOME FACTS:
-Not shown much in MV, but they have 3 different choreos for each chorus. Again telling the progression of the temptation.
-Their black outfits have snakes ornaments and accessories, while the white outfits have crystal tears and tethers (Minnie got chains/ bound rope, especially during stage performances).
-The black bars on top and bottom opened and closed for Minnie.
-Minnie have to shower multiple times a day since she's covered with blood, wine, mud, etc. And yes, they "swam" in the mud pit.
-The barb wire aren't real (obviously) but they are surrounding them so close, and given that idea it is still uncomforting.
-Soojin (blonde) said "MY ROLE IS TO SEDUCE THE GIRLS."
Yessss Gidle is one of my top favorite groups! They are a self produced group just like bts and most of their songs are made by the leader/ rapper Soyeon. There are a lot of all rounders in kpop but she’s one of the few aces. The rest of the girls are also amazing with very diverse vocals like yuqi (the girl with the deep voice).

Since their debut, (G)Idle have hit different with every song...from debut and "Latata" to "HANN (Alone)," next there is "HWAA (Dimiteri Vegas & Like Mike remix)". But there are others as well. But try these first...
The name is a bit tricky, the (g) just stands for girl and Idle is supposed to be a play on words... in Korean, the meaning is children but in English, the spelling of it, just means someone who doest do anything, "Someone who will stand idlely by and do nothing." But idle also is supposed to represent "IDOL," so (g) idol or (G)i-dle.
There are 5 members. There used to be 6, but Cube, being the shitty company they are have removed her from the group over allegations of bullying that she did in high school that turned our to be false. The members that remain are:
1. Soyeon-leader, main rapper, Center, Korean
2. Miyeon-main vocals, visual, Korean
3. Minhee-main vocals, Thai
4. Yuqi-lead dancer, sub vocals and rapper, face of the group, Chinese
5. Shuhua-sub vocals, visual, and maknae, Taiwanese.
One last thing....the rapper of the group...Soyeon and Miyeon are both part of another group called K/DA. They would be a virtual singing group for the video game League of Legends. .they have two songs and videos that are pretty amazing. You should check it out. Oh and their fandom name is Neverland.
