We visited Burg Eltz a few years ago. The staff at the Burg were amazing! We had tickets for the last tour of the day and due to unforeseen traffic we were a bit behind schedule. We called and they made sure they would wait for us to make it. We literally ran along the winding path through the woods to the castle and were met with the spectacular sight of the castle in the evening glow. We made it right on time and they made sure we had some water as they knew we had been running. Veilen Danke!

The 1000, - DM notes and 500, - DM notes were used for larger payments; For example, buying a car or buying furniture before these payments by bank transfer or card payment became common. If, as a furniture retailer, you otherwise wanted a guaranteed payment without cash, the customer would have had to issue up to ten Eurocheques with a Eurocheque card number. :) www.muenzkontor.de/muenzkunde-numismatik/banknoten-nominale-deutsche-mark-dm-scheine#:~:text=Die%20Banknoten-Nominale%20der%20Deutschen%20Mark%20%28DM-Scheine%29%201%205,200%20DM-Schein%207%20500%20DM-Schein%208%201000%20DM-Banknote

There's also Cinderella's Castle at both Disney Land and Disney World, Hogwarts Castle at Universal Studios Orlando, and a White Castle to be found all across the Midwest United States. Biltmore Estate is like an Überschloß, also.

It doesn't count as a castle, but this kinda looks like one. It's a couple blocks away from my house. Regular houses and 7-11s across the street from it. I didn't know it was there, so it was a rather jarring image the first time I saw it.

Regarding the Ghost stories, there is one on Burg Rieneck, where they say the Duke had some sort of argument (I dont remember all the details) but for some reason had to kill his daughter. He refused but instead made a tiny chamber in the wall of the tower, put her in and closed the gap with stones again (way more brutal than murder imo). She is supposed to be the ghost of the castle, and some researchers did X-Ray the said wall and found Bones in there.

I visited King Ludwig's castle in Bavaria, and I have pictures to prove it, when I was there in high school (80's) with a concert band. It was rather grand and magnificent with a royal feel to it. I was traveling through Europe with the band when our fearless band director got arrested in Prague, which was still communist at that time, for putting up posters advertising our concert times and places without communist party approval An ambassador from the American Embassy in Vienna had to be dispatched to Prague to get him out of jail in time for the concert. I was worried once we hit the barbed wire border crossing from Austria into then Czechoslovakia because my last name is Czech/Bohemian. The well armed soldiers questioned me for a while, I was almost 17 at the time, about my family and why they left. It was a bit unnerving for me at such a young age.

The grounds belonging to the hospital contain about 335 acres, and front about 2000 feet on the West Fork River, opposite the town of Weston, and extend back to the north to a depth sufficient for this acreage. With the exception of the site on which the buildings are located, which extends back from the river about 800 feet, the land is very steep and entirely unsuitable for tillage. A very small portion of it is used for gardening, but in the main it is used for grazing.

With hours to wait, we looked around the town a little and the castle. I was so glad we broke down. On a school trip a year or two prior to that, we went to somewhere not too far from Werl which I seem to remember was called Altina/Altena Castle, though I've never been able to be sure.

Ich war in Kanada geboren, so jetzt muss ich English schreiben. Schloss Heidelberg --- (maybe it is a good opportunity to explain to viewers/potential tourists, the difference between Burg & Berg) --- should be special to Canadians, because a descendant from that line of Royalty was Prince Rupert, who tried to develop a life in Bohemia and got kicked out by the Catholics then went to reside in England and persuaded the King of England to invest in the French explorers that were refused investment by the King of France...long story, It is because of Prince Rupert (ultimately from the family from Schloss Heidelberg) that French and English developed exploration and business and settlement of Canada.

What we germans actually really like is to look at videos of people from other countries that talk about the wierd, interesting or cool stuff that they thought would be good enough to share on the internet and quietly make their own opinion on it.

The Weiße Frau is so old that there can't be defined where the legend came from, but it spreads over Russia and many others up to Japan. It suprisingly always include a woman that has been betrayed form her love or loose it just before the wedding.

By the time we finally arrived at the castle, there were about 200 people lining up in front of us. so we turned back and walked back to the hotel. Have to get back there sometime.

well... funny, but when you were born in germany and you grow up here... staying and living here, you will not really realize how many castles are around you.
I am from a small town at the lower rhine and there always was the Schwanenburg. Each time you go into the city, you see this castle. And when I moved on, now I have "my" caslte Linn.
but all around you there are castles...
In 2014/2015 I started to show someone from brazil to show some interesting things here... and I thought, I would not find anything interesting, but then, she saw some pictures of castle Linn and so it starts... I said "hum, I don´t know, but it´s not the only castle here... maybe I will find some more". And well... more than 200 castle found and visited since 2014 :D and no need to drive away far! the most castles I found in a radius of 100km, but I also made holiday two times at the rhine (middle rhine valley has a lot of castles) and the mosel.
So... more than 200 castles visited in real life and hum, ...I may not gonna stop, but... the person I was doing it for, is gone :( ...so my motivation is low to go out and do experiences like that anymore...

Hey DeJ, thanks for your lovely comment. Super cool that you've located so many castles, that are seemingly hidden in plain sight 🕵️‍♀️. Sorry to hear your person isn't here anymore, but we hope you find your love for castle searching again 🤗

Your comment about the British royal family was something I noticed when I visited Germany. I would flip though the channels sometimes and always see one going on about the them. I am from from Canada and there is actually not much interest in them.

My ex-wife took up with a German monarchist. Really, a fellow who is head of an organization to reinstate the Hohenzoller line of Kaisers with a modern Constitutional Monarchy.
Please come and do the castles on the Rhine!

@Paul Kachur Perhaps she can convince him to take a modern view and simply treat the monarchy as part of German history.

A very brief part of history. Unlike other monarchies that go back for centuries, Germany only had a Kaiser from 1871 to 1918.
And most of the world (and even many Germans) regarded him as a ridiculous goose-stepping comic-opera figure with his pointy helmet and silly moustache.

My Grand father was a Von Lintel from around Harem Germany, he left in the 1870s to escape to America. He was military and they demanded things that went against his faith.
