Michael, thank you for these videos as they've been very helpful to me! I am practicing this as I am typing this to you and I have a question. I notice that it looks like you have a plastic head on your quinto, and cows skin on your other congas, is this correct? If so, do you do that for the purpose of getting better tonality out of your slaps? Just curious, because I hear great things about plastic heads, and how they might be more beneficial to beginners like me who have been playing for about a year now.
Well Mike, the skin on my quinto is steer. I don't use plastic skins, although the quality is getting better and better, I am a nature man. If you play outside with temperature differences it might be better to use plastic skins, but I don't like the sound... But this is only my opinion. Good luck!
I don't always drink beer but when I do I prefer a Heineken while learning from my friend Michael. (I'm still working on a plane ticket to Holland to take you up on your offer.) I have all kinds of questions but lets start with this one. You express rhythms and technics in music script and 6/8 time ect., and I never learned music, however, I can hear a rhythm and easily duplicate it. Do you think my learning music would help my conceptual understanding of rhythms? Couldn't t hurt, huh. And where are you in the Netherlands? I need to know where to buy my ticket to. (Just kidding) Stay thirsty my friend. DBH

I always use this pattern u wrote, but only change the the double slaps in the middle of the pattern, best mozambiq pattern in youtube
