Am I the only one who actually thinks Jennifer Aniston doesn't belong here? She's a MEGA star and if it were literally any other show, i'd agree that she's way bigger than it... but I actually don't think she became bigger than Friends. Whether people like it or not, Friends is huge. I feel like she was appropriately famous for a famous show. It's not like Michael J. Fox who, although Family Ties was wonderful, completely outgrew a normal sitcom like that. But even by 2004, Jennifer and Friends went hand in hand. The proof of that is she's still... after all her roles... best known for Friends
I came to say the same thing, even I love Robin he was to high I feel like Steve Carell should be #1 he was as famous doing movies at the same time doing the office, every year was "will Steve leave for movies" worry
Her movie career started years after those shows ended. Like T. Hanks, D. DeVito, B. Chrysal, or M. Freeman. I think there's another video for that. This is about actors, who became movie stars while their shows were still on the air. Like Martin Lawrence, Godie Hawn, or Clint Eastwood. Crazy enough; none of them were mentioned!!

A huge step! He's my hero, and was also my dad's, who I lost to Parkinson's ten years ago. Did you see the MJF documentary, "Still: The Michael J Fox Story?" It's amazing!💙😊
Glen was his first ever role, but 21 Jump Street is what actually launched him into the spotlight. Even then, he wasn't THAT popular after the show ended until he played Captain Jack Sparrow.

He is already well known. At least in UK. He was the first choice for James Bond after Roger Moore retired, but contract with Remington Steele prevented him. He only return to the big screen way after the show concluded.
Robin did go back to tv near the end of his life, though, with one season of The Crazy Ones, starring alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar (another small screen alumnus from Buffy), Hamish Linklater, James Wolk, and Amanda Setton.

Hilary Duff, Jennifer Love Hewitt Robin Williams, and John Travolta were all huge during their years on television. Honorable mention Tim Allen, Katherine Heigl, etc.
While nobody can beat the amazing Robin Williams, Tom Hanks could be considered #2...he went from pure comedy to comedy and dramatic roles. Denzel Washington is another that should be ranked higher...both dramatic and action movies.
Olivia Rodrigo started out starring in the Disney show Bizaardvark, then onto the Disney+ show High School Musical: The Musical The Series. Somewhere in between season 2 and 3 of HSMTMTS she became a worldwide known artist with her single "Drivers License" and her full album SOUR. I see where you're coming from, and it’s an interesting point! Michelle Williams’ career did take off after Dawson's Creek, but maybe that’s what makes her journey so compelling. She used her early TV fame as a stepping stone to build a remarkable career in challenging and diverse roles. It’s a reminder that sometimes success doesn’t fit neatly into any criteria-it evolves, just like the talent behind it.
The point of the video was actors that were bigger than the show they were on. All the actors you named were part of great SNL casts, whereas Murphy WAS SNL during his time on the show.
omg, I remember seeing ads for What Happens in Vegas either during Survivor: Micronesia or Wipeout and couldn't remember it for years until I saw it was mentioned here.
I think there's a major difference with someone like Clooney, Willis or Travolta whose movie superstardom hit when they were still on tv, essentially rendering them way too big to still be on their show, and someone like Tom Hanks or Robin Williams who were on tv but then really became bigger movie stars a few years after their tv show ended
@@dhenderson1810 Agreed. But he was actually a wonderful sport and stayed on Family Ties until the end, four years later, when he could've bailed right after BTTF. Clooney left ER after movie stardom hit, and Moonlighting and Welcome Back Kotter both kinda ended when it became obvious that Willis and Travolta were ready to leave and their hearts were no longer on a tv show when they were getting huge movie offers. Fox is one of the only cases I can think of that actually used his movie stardom to make Family Ties an even bigger hit, his commitment to the show paid off for everyone involved because BTTF brought in a new audience of people who loved him in that movie and then started watching his sitcom, as opposed to where the other actors mentioned made no bones that they had outgrown a weekly series, Fox stayed with Family Ties until the end. Hence how an entire video can be made that suggests no one knew who any of these people were until they appeared in the MCU or MCU-adjacent franchises. depended on the actor, Shelley Long looked younger than she actually was, Diane was written to be about 22-23 at the start of the series though Shelley was 33 in 1982
Suzanne Somers didn't quit. She was fired from Three's Company due to money disputes, and she was being a diva by not showing up for filming, thus the cast and producers were finally fed up. Plus, her big screen career never took off. She did make her TV comeback by starring on Step By Step in the early 90s.
She was replaced because she complained of gender inequality. She was making $30,000 per episode, Ritter was making $150,000. They only gave her $5,000 more so she protested by missing tapings. Sucks to be a woman in a man's world, doesn't it, hm?

I'm shock you forgot about, Johnny Depp working in Sleepy Hollow (1999).
That was to me the best collaboration with, Tim Burton.
No mention of Leonardo DiCaprio. Unless him being an occuring guest in Growing Pains didn't count.
Was he making movies while doing "Growing Pains"?
Plus he was in one season of "Growing Pains".
@dhenderson1810 but he was getting small venue movie, so Leo was going to get big.
Real fans know that while Mike and Molly was her big break, Melissa McCarthy was Sookie St. James on Gilmore Girls and that’s where I personally know her from.
How about James Gandolfini who carries The Sopranos.
Bit he's famous for the Sopranos. The video is about who become bigger elsewhere and outgrew the show
He was launching his film career, when he died. 😢
You forgot Lawrence from Martin, Pierce brosnan from Remington Steele, which paved way for moonlighting, and was the first show to kiss, I felt ideas that somewhere, drake from degrassi, even though I don’t know if he did that much in the show, drake and Josh, for Josh peck, that so raven, want to go old school, roger Moore from the saint, Cranston from Malcom I’m the middle, dicaprio from growing pains,
The cast of cheers were young but looked old asf
depended on the actor, Shelley Long looked younger than she actually was, Diane was written to be about 22-23 at the start of the series though Shelley was 33 in 1982
6:16 If you gonna show a close-up of someone's face singing edit out the spit strings
Norbit is a masterpiece lol😂
Suzanne Somers and Farrah Fawcett. Thought these would be not modern enough for you, but I was surprised you got John Travolta.
This seems more like just a list of stars who got their start on tv shows
I can't see Robin Williams or Eddie Murphy just on TV. 🎉
@JJ.-BByour comments aren’t related to the video Tyler is so it explains he is just a Mojo Fan and decided to make a comment on what he thinks related to a video from a channel he likes.
@JJ.-BB What's obvious is that you're a sad troll who has to pick on everyone to feel good about yourself. I'm not mad, I'm just feel sorry that this is the highlight of your day. 🎉
@AndyHouse-v1m I have also never seen golden comment a racist thing. No you did delete your post because they are not there.
@AndyHouse-v1m actually the troll is you and I have evidence to prove you bully people as well. Sad that you have to lie and deny it
