Can NOT believe they actually did this one 😂 I love it, I mean this would be one of my deserted island albums, but this is such an explicit and raunchy song! And Lex looked like she wanted to be just about anywhere else!!

Every one of the songs on that album jam, it’s definitely a good heavy funk vibe. I don’t usually hear lyrics hardly at all unless I focus on them - when I do that with RHCP I do get that ‘Damn, that’s explicit! ‘ reaction. I have to watch what I play with the kids in the car, for sure.

I know this sounds crazy but this is a song with fantastical lyrics about the alter ego of every man when he masturbates. Sir Psycho is the alter ego and the line that gives it away beside the story about the police officer is "Sir Pycho is a man who leaves you blind". A reference to what they used to say about happens to those who please themselves, they go blind.

My 8th grade history teacher was a really cool guy who would entertain us with stories of his days as a hippie in the 60s and also his experiences in the Vietnam war. He was particularly fond of me and a couple of my other stoner friends who had his class the same period - there was some sort of trans-generational counter culture vibe going on. Anyway, we initiated a bit of a CD exchange club with him - he would lend us all his albums by The Beatles, Doors, etc and we would lend him stuff like Nirvana, NIN, Jane’s Addiction, and RHCP. He was particularly fond of the album that this song is on. You should listen to the whole thing sometime, it really is a great album.

The RHCP is an experience, they been around since the 90s. It’s about, sex, drugs and rock and roll. They lived it, and one didn’t survive. How they survive their drug addiction is truly amazing. They’re junkies, under the bridge junkies. Blessed with talent, composing lyrics and music. Also John Frusciante is considered one of the world’s greatest guitarist. He once sold his guitar just to buy heroin. They’re stage antics are legendary, they would just ware a sock, that’s right butt naked with just a sock on.
You should react to “Snow (Hey Ho)” Johns riff is amazing, Anthony’s lyrics is about heroin. And when you hear it, it’s beautiful.
Give it a listen, and think …THIS is one of the world’s greatest guitarist playing to you what it like to have an addiction to drugs, The pain, the loss.

Love this song. It's so raunchy and full of outrageous machismo, but then it's morphs into a beautiful funky jam at the end. This is essentially the Red Hot Chili Peppers Layla

Classic, yep. They used to play live shows with just socks on their business. If you see their first release, its dirty as hell. Favorite top 5 from then.

i was stationed in San Diego, when i got out I was living in a little place on the beach, when this and a lot of RHCP music came out - you couldn't get away from their music, it was every where all the time, at night we would have bon fires on the beach and party to this stuff all night, people would come down the beach and hang all night, very strong vibes on the California beaches and surf community along with all the "Grunge" that was coming out at that time, some real wild times - some awesome memories too

Cannot go wrong checking out crazy unique bands like Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Divinyls.
Amused at both reactions to some surprising lyrics in both songs.

This was RHCP at the pinnacle best, that whole album is up there with the best, every song on it is a banger.

I always felt like the lyrics to this song were inspired by Eazy-E's Eazy-Duz-It.

One of my fav's. This song is off the funk meter and the outro is sensationally smooth a.f. The ending gives me an East Coast Easy Feelin' (like The Eagles once sang)

This album is when they went mainstream and got a little more experimental. PLEASE listen to 'Fight like a brave' from RHCP. Anything from their album ' the uplift mofo party plan' is good! Their best album in my opinion, before the '90s came and they mellowed out got depressing. 80s stuff was a mix of funk/ rap/punk and a lot of skaters listened to them.

You're one of the only people I've seen say this and I agree 100,000,000%. First time I saw them was back in 85 or 86 in front of about 40-50 people. So raw and energetic back then. Now they make me wanna puke🤮.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik is where they moved away from their Punk roots to more of a groove. I wouldn't call it Mainstream its a band evolving. Under the Bridge was a hit because it was a slow song. He was mourning the death of a friend to a Heroine OD not going Pop.
