🥰 I vaguely remember this song, but I never really went out of my way to seek it.
Lately, I went through a beautiful transformation of the heart, which I asked for after years of feeling resentment towards others whom I’d felt wronged me. Today, this song came to mind because it expresses almost everything I’ve been thinking/feeling. I would only change “brokenness” lyric to humbleness.

The reason for the brokenness lines is some of us have the " it's my way or the highway!" attitude that God can't use.
Brokenness is being humble before God- not that He wants to beat you down or crush you.
David had a heart after God- when messed up he wasn't too proud to be open that he messed up & sincerely asked for forgiveness & help from God.
Brokenness is your pride leaving you so you are able to serve God by helping others & not thinking its all about you.

As much as I love this song, I would rewrite the "brokenness" verse thusly: "Brokenness is what I offer, brokenness is what I bring. Brokenness is what You take from me." Christ does not need to break people. Everybody comes broken. They just may not have admitted it to themselves yet.
Nebuchadnezzar was broken and later confessed that God rules in the affairs of men. Halleluyah
A Contrite heart and Broken spirit God will not Despise! He's not talking to the unbeliever here but he's talking to the believer. This broken refers to the revelation of God in all of his Glory through prayer and intercession. Respectfully these lyrics are appropriate.

I think the brokenness this speaks of is the place of humility, where you get and realize you that God knows it all, and you admit that you are not whole without him.

Just heard the song and decided to search it...God doesn't desire us to be broken. Yes if we have built up a tower of pride, build our beliefs on sinking sand God in His mercy may remove His hedge of protection, allow us to experience the consequences of sin and our choices but He is not the cause of our brokenness neither is brokenness a state that He would have us in. (Brokenness is what you want for me) no, this is not so. He wants restoration and reconciliation. Brokenness falls desperately short of that and God's true purpose for us in our lives.
The brokenness here is all about humility... Not the "struggles or weakness" we have but the humility of heart and spirit

Brokenness is asking God to break up every and any things in our life that is unlike Him. That is my prayer and my desire for myself, my children and for everyone who wants to be closer to God is for Him to break and then mold us into His image. I pray we will all pray for brokenness of lying ,stealing ,watching and listening to (music , joke ,cursing ect) things that doesn't glorify God , all the sins in our life that separate us from God. God is a Holy God. Please be bless and let God lead in all our life's let's pray for each other so that we all can make it to the kingdom of God so we can behold Jesus in all His GLORY. BREAK US AND TRANSFORM US TO YOUR WILL LORD.
