OUR VAN IS JUST TOO BIG FOR TURKEY. I respect you man, as an "X" class one driver 90% of the deliveries I have done and fellow drivers do are not built for these size wagons, the stress is unbelievable. 1st rule, if it looks narrow then get out and walk the route, it will save you. Credit too you

Hi Lynsay and Steve, yet another very enjoyable insight into your family adventures. Although my wife and I have yet to travel beyond the uk in the 3 years we’ve had our motorhome, we very much appreciate the tips on do’s/don’t’s, and recommendations on things to get, try, or even avoid through your own experiences. Just this week we wanted to visit another TH-cam couple “Holly the Cafe boat” in Bollington, Cheshire, to try out their floating cafe. Searchforsites had the nearest stopover at some 4+ miles away, so on the back of a previous tip from Steve we phoned an unlisted pub just 1/2 mile from our desired destination, and asked, if we ate there, could we park the night too? They couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating, and so we stayed there for 24hrs, supporting both the pub and cafe. Keep up the vlogging, as emotional as that may become with kids starting to fly the nest. Trust me, they will return, even though at times it will feel like it’s only for food, laundry or finance. All the best, Phil.
We stayed at that Aire in Antalya in April for 5 days, highly recommended. A good walk or cycle into the old town and the nearby waterfront is nice too.
Buying a Huge van for comfort and wanting to use it to explore parts of the world is one thing, and if you can afford it, why not, but the reality can be very different and daunting, and I guess the Last thing you need is “the Told-You people”, I’m sure you’ve learned a few things on this trip already. I really hope you get a LOT more Great times in your van in the future.
It's not really a huge van when you consider they are travelling with up to 3 teenage boys most of the time. I'm sure they'll be happy to downsize when the boys are all off doing their own thing.
Great vlog. Looks like a busy place. I felt for you reversing Steve, good job 👍🏻 Great when you find friendly parking and a restaurant right next to the beach 😃🚐 safe travels 💙 Trev n Sue
We’ve been enjoying this road trip series. Look us up if you’re coming to the states this winter. How’s the stray dog situation in Turkey? We are rather protective of little Lucy and it’s challenging sometimes.
Another fantastic video thanks so much for always delivering us banging content ❤ I don’t envy Steve having to drive on them crazy roads Take care guys can’t wait for the next upload can’t we have 2 a week 🙏😂
I just missed you lol I was at that holiday camp it’s really good spot you have the supermarket shop out side the camp site and you have the beach that’s only few mins walk a McDonald’s barber’s restaurants the lot great spot
I scratch my camper caravan few days ago first time in 15years ,50 cm long almost 2 cm deep .ITs hard to travel in summer season, everything is overcrowded with cars ,and when you go somewhere you just dont know will you even manage to pass with so much cars parked where they want and with caravan going in reverse on tight streets packed with cars in is like impossible .Add heat which this summer was crazy. Its like 35c+ for 2 months constatly ,i thing i will just skip next summer and travel in May ,maybe Jun ,September ,Oktober .10 times less crowds ,normal weather and so much less stress
Good idea, if you can travel in those slightly cooler and less busy months. I wouldn’t have wanted to reverse down that street with a caravan attached 😳
When we stayed in Olu Deniz we went by waster taxi to calis beach from Fethye they had turtles hatch on the beach with sign when you are allowed on the put large boads up for when the turtles hatched because they would go to the light of the restaurants and not the sea
In the restaurants do they still sell the bread that comes out looking like a balloon and tastes fantastic 👍 it deflates obviously when it starts to cool or if eaten 😂🤣😂🤣
I would be curios to know how much power your aircon takes. There are aircons with max power consumption of 700 watts that give 8000BTU. With hoses positioned around the motorhome that would easily be enough cooling power.
Introducing family to your trip as we as staying with them and couldn’t miss out on this weeks video :) Question from father in law.. which football team’s shirt is Harry wearing?
Bigger is not always better - practical is the way to go - the kids are going - you're older and want an easier carry on - get something more suitable to your needs.
With a motorhome of that size you should never need to hook up. You have ample room for batteries and sola. We drove to Istanbul and even when did use a camp site we didn't need to hook up. With a combination of gas and solar in the summer camping sites are not needed. It seems expensive and a PITA having to locate camping sites and that seems half your problem.
We’ve covered this in many videos, but yes we have 960Ah of lithium and 950w of solar or 1750w of solar with our additional fold out panels. We can run the aircon all night whilst off grid, but charging the batteries again takes a lot of work, that’s why we aim for campsites with electric hook up where possible.
@@RoamingRadfords let's say you have a terrible half efficiency in the summer and only 10 hours of sunlight. You should expect 10 x 500 = 5000 watts to be recharged each day . With Aircon cycling on and off during the night 8 x 350 = 2800 watts of power consumption. That is with a 700 watt Aircon on for 10 mins off for 10 mins etc. I imagine your Aircon is using far too much power and not being used efficiently with how its directed. You should have zero reason to hook up in the summer with the massive system you have. If you are not getting good yield from Solar you could even consider tilting panels. But I think it's simple you just need to change your Aircon.
There are far too many things you can’t seem to be able do with the van, Parking, bottoming out, driving through small towns due to narrow streets, it’s sir-pose to be relaxing??
Steve it seems that they can not cope with large motor homes. Another great video and full of information and thanks to Lynsey for her history lessons and Eddie and George for there retail knowledge.
It’s more appropriate to pay the going rate, and not insult the local economy which is hardly third world. Inflation is rampant enough in Turkiye which is a real challenge for all traders ps just spent 3 months touring Turkiye speaking to a lot of Turks so this is an informed opinion.
What about a clear vinyl removable wrap fitted high up to protect the paintwork ........ dont suppose you know anyone who supplys and fits that ?...😅😅😅😅

Great vlog, I love your narration lyns and Steve you’re such a good driver , I could never do that reversing in a million years x
Nice to see you back Lyns, love seeing a bit more footage of the areas you are visiting and some of the history and culture.
Steve you’re gonna need a holiday to get over this one, you look shattered….enjoy your travels😎
Thank you. Enjoy the adventure.

The boys don't need different languages to get on with others boys, a football is all you need, go to north Cyprus you will love it as much.

Thanks guys. There are lots of stray dogs, but they’re all lovely. We were surprised how tame and approachable they all are.

Thanks Simon
I was working on a boat in 1978 , we were tied up in Antalya harbour, it was very hot 120 f in the shade !!!!!
great vlog on travels thanks for share thanks lee
Have you been to the falls of the. Duden soo? North of Antalya. I was there in 1978!!!! Worth going to.

Head over to Georgia. There are loads of beautiful parkups and wild camping is legal.

And how to you get that van around the UK either?
With all the upgrades you did, why don't you have a GPS which will keep you out of narrow village roads?

Fair play reversing back down that narrow road. Ye really are finding some great park up places x
And they say there’s no money about ? Some people don’t have to worry about.
Turkey seems less expensive than other places you have visited 👍👍😊
I’m fed up with my kids on summer term off, can I come and join you lot?!
Love how George's voice has dropped but it is a pity he doesn't seem interested in the YT thing anymore. Ah well. Boys growing up!
Great fuel prices. Steve how many litres does that fuel tank hold ?
Another great vid
Thanks Paul. I don’t know, about 80 litres

Got some good advice of a bloke with an A class this summer. he said if there where bins outside in the street he could get down as the bin wagon can
Yes often use bins or bus stops as a marker if we can get down there
OH NO dont say the Kon Tiki is to big - ive just traded my Escape in for a KonTiki so I can go longer tours 😁

Turkey….just needs a lot more planning… cannot just wing it there… still enjoying your videos
I think in cooler months it would be much easier.
Think you could give the van cleaners more money. They work hard and are on minimum pay.
It took him 20 minutes, which would put him on around £35 per hour. I could be wrong, but I believe that’s a very good wage for Turkey.
