When the show first aired the network aired the episodes out of order for excitement, with no regard for story order. When they were rerun on SciFi, they were shown in order which is where I first saw the show.
Yeah the tone of the show can be all over the place. With the prominence of long-form TV (or streaming) this would be a prime property to reinvigorate.
