  • Another wild one! ELDO is never short on providing plenty of action. Lots of breaks went this race. Did any stick? Watch and find out.

Thank you! Really appreciate the feedback. Maybe one day I’ll do voiceover commentary on these races like you guys do. For now, I’m definitely going to continue enjoying editing together shorter versions of these races. 👊

another great vid.. Why the nae Cassette, is it in ref to the rear gear cluster or something to do with archaic recording media?

It’s a merging two things I love so much: cycling and music. And I’m in the age bracket where I grew up listening to music on cassette tapes. I have to give my wife Dani credit though. She came up with the idea of that name

@@cassettecycling Cool. I love music as well Matt, as a near 60 yo. Keep up the good work and the insightful on screen text at key moments.

I was hoping someone had a better angle of the crash, I barely missed Sean’s helmet holy shit…😳
the guy that took 2nd in the breakaway, his name is Chris and he drove all the way from Bakersfield just for El do.

That’s some dedication on Chris’s part! Hell yeah. I chatted with him briefly after the race. Super nice dude.
Bro you came sooooo close to Sean’s helmet. Like millimeters away my dude. Bike racing is something else, huh? 🤣😅

ElDo has some seriously bad pavement (some areas worse than others, and there is sand/rocks everywhere, I've ridden at that park a few times), lol.
They need to repave like 50-60% of it.
On that crash at 12:36, you can see rider #76 he was on the far right side, he then blindsides the dude to his left because it looks like he assumed there is a large enough opening to sprint up the inside (left side) to take the final corner. NOPE, lol.
Unfortunately he completely throws his entire back wheel into the riders front wheel and wipes him out. Of course this view is from like 10 wheels or so back, so I could be wrong. Maybe he got swept to the left, or overreacted, but I'm going to say it was the former since I didn't see any other rider sweeping left. Sucks man.
    Wonder if he got DQ'd?
    Good racing out there though!

Hey thanks! I don’t believe that guy was DQ’d. One of the first things I learned in racing was to always protect your front wheel. If I remember correctly this guy that went down was a masters rider from another race (they run races simultaneously here). I hate seeing fellow racers go down but it does happen. Something I guess you have to accept about the sport. And yea, man that pavement could use a serious overhaul but it does make things more interesting. Ha! After doing a couple of these you learn the lines pretty quick and it isn’t so bad. This remains my fav race series in SoCal. If you haven’t raced it yet or encourage you to do so. The vibes are on point. Always a good time 💯👊
