Then followed that with ‘we have to acknowledge that and change it’ and also said he believes they’ll succeed but first need to survive.
they've always done it. Jose went from "not being from the bottle, ONE of the special ONES" just meaning he was an elite manager. Of course they instantly changed that to "THE special one" and built that to be his whole image. Borderline suable rubbish they get away with lol.
David De Gea almost single-handedly prevented us dropping to this lowly position for about 8 years. As a reward we booted him out of the gates. Now, with a sub-standard keeper, we can see how much was being hidden by the performance of de Gea, because we certainly haven't scored goals for 10 years. It's NOT THE MANAGER. We've had a conveyor belt of top class managers who have been broken by the club. This is a 5-10 year project like it was when Fergie took over a failing Man U side. Fergie had to clear out dead-wood and impose himself on the whole club. That's what Amorim seems to be doing. People forget that United were relegated then were a very average side back in the 70s-80s. We've only ever been successful with TWO ... JUST TWO .. managers. Fergie and Busby give the impression that Man U were always a great team, and that's simply not true. We were great for 2 spells.
De Gea almost singlehandedly lost the FA Cup final and got us knocked out the Europa League his final season. You're just being sentimental because Onana isn't good enough. Every one knew De Gea was a problem before he left, he was out of contract, underperforming and on 300k+ a week
He was talking about the hierarchy and squad. There's only 7 players left when he made that comment, most of which don't start regularly, so it's invalid as the squad has mostly been overhauled (mostly under ten hag). The problem is ten hag bought us utter rubbish.

This constant nonsense about formations and tactics need to stop. 3-4-3, 4-4-2, 5-3-2…. None of it matters. None of it is responsible for players not working hard, for giving the ball away, for poor decision making…. It’s not tactics. Its culture. And we’ve gone through a long list of managers in the last 15 years, with tons of new players and different philosophies, and nothing has worked. Ratcliffe spoke about how poor the squad is a few months ago; they need to give him time and support. Expecting him to get a tune out of a group of players who were signed by the last 3-4 managers, all of whom got sacked, is silly. I think Ratcliffe knows better, and the media need to stop being so lazy by highlighting the formation. It’s a really poor, lazy, uninformed analysis
This manager is the worst so far. MU have a half decent squad. God knows they cost enough. They are quite capable of being in the top 10 with a half decent manager.
I mean what's the worst that can happen for Amorim. He'll still keep his reputation intact regardless of what happens. He'll walk into another role as this club is fundamentally broken anyway. On the flip side maybe he'll get a reaction from the players highlighting how incredibly bad the motivation is. It's sink or swim and if it fails he'll just leave. Why not get it out in the universe how bad it really is?
Amorim is in a strong position tbh. They just fired a manager who was given a new contract and a payday to walk away and he knows this. Amorim is literally the only thing that is making the club somewhat attractive.
When the board interviewed Amorim, don't you think they ask what's his plan ? He presented his style of plan and is adamant of sticking with it. Why hire him when you expect him to change his philosophy? I do not blame the manager at all

He said that United are the worst to get a reaction from the players to perform better, and to get a reaction from the Board to start signing players that fit his system. You can't play 4 at the back and win games that way because these players will never want to learn a new system after that. Amorim’s system relies upon on Wingbacks, which United haven’t got right now. With proper left and right wingbacks that can attack and defend, there’ll be a huge difference in how they play. They also need an experienced number 9.

He's what united need unfortunately the glazers are still pulling the strings and they don't invest like mansour does . Glazers take away .
Ineos etc appointed Amorim for his elite mentality and elite coaching. They forced him to join mid season, knowing that the squad can't play his system without months of training at a minimum, so now they need to back him and get him players to play his system, and remove the shower of mediocrity that is Anthony, Casemiro, Rashford, Shaw, Malacia, (Mount, sadly), Lindeloff and many more. Amorim is saying EXACTLY what the fans know and have known for years. This is the worst Man United team for decades, because recruitment has been atrocious for over a decade.
why months of training ? its football ffs the basics are the same u run tackle and pass accurately/ This does not take months of training. If it does your team do not care
@bonjovi7120 there's a reason he was so highly thought of and scouted by literally every big club in Europe. And maybe have a wee look at his achievements in Portugal. Mediocre coaches/managers don't achieve what Amorim achieved.
What planet are people on? The players have let down every manager since fergie left - if Amorim came in and we won 5 on the bounce it would hide the cracks, we'd eventually turn rubbish again and the manager gets the blame - we need to carry on with his vision, and whoever can't cope with that has to leave until he has the team he wants that will do it, then if the system doesn't work it's his fault! But how anyone can be losing faith with him instead of the players are deluded. The players are accountable
He’s brilliantly taking all the heat away from his players. He knows saying an extreme thing will make everyone talk about him and not dissect his player’s awful display. Have to save the mental of these fragile players to limp through the back half.
You think he's taking the heat off the players? I think he's putting it on the players as well as the board. He's coming out and saying the state of the club is not my fault and this is what is presented to me. Maybe begging the board to back him with signings
I’m backing Amorim all the way he’s bang on with his assessment the money spent last couple seasons has been horrendous and he now has to sort other people’s mess out
Onana only makes unbelievable saves when they shoot directly at him. Most bad goals he is like a tree rooted in the ground. Or, he rolls the ball to the other team, like in Brighton game.
@eugenelindsay4173 we would have actually been better with a statue in goal yesterday... Ddg single handedly kept us in games but all we got told is he's useless with his feet... Give me a keeper that keeps the ball out of the net instead of a clown who looks like he's won a chance to play on telly
Onana has 4 errors leading to goals. If you're going to use an official stat for De Gea you can't then make stuff up for Onana. I've seen De Gea concede some of the worst goals I've ever seen, including at pub league level so let's not pretend he was always amazing. And this is league only too. He cost us alot in Europe too, Sevilla away and the pea roller he let Messi score are immediately coming to mind
Amorim doesn't have the players to play his system. But the fact he got a point against us shows his system is effective when players run and work hard.
Didn't ETH said the same about this team that he cannot get this team to play the way he wanted them to. Strange team of players when managers speaking the same. 🤔
I'm liking this amorim, he's saying what every united fan is thinking, united are terrible, ...and I've been a united fan over 40 years and this team is clueless and lacking quality or backbone ,....I hope he starts a massive storm at united to get this club back competing again....I'd give this guy time , he's refreshingly honest and brutal
@ Well, let's see how Amorim does after a couple of seasons. This squad isn't as bad as people say but to insist on playing 343 when the squad isn't up to it is dumb. He should play a more conventional formation and just try to get some wins until the end of the season.
Amorim’s definitely the guy to make things better period! It’s NEVER been the managers, it’s the players certain ex Manchester United managers have invested into the club. Stick with him, let him clear out the dead wood (which he will do btw) and then bring in ALL the players he wants to transform the club …. he came in while the season had already started, the club new the situation. They knew these players are rubbish, but they brought Amorim in to sort it. He’s better with people then Ten Hag (who in fact is a top top coach) but because ETH is abit awkward, especially when expressing himself in English by always saying “Ah/Eh” etc which was funny but then started getting annoying after a while ngl ..
or he's putting it all out there to see what players are willing to back him or turn on him. I think he made the wrong choice going to Manchester United when he was doing extremely well at Sporting. If the club sack him for his comments, then that would be the end of the club.
Bruno Large is smashing it in the Portuguese League and currently second 3 points off of Sporting and he even won a cup last week I think. That same manager got sacked by Wolves let that sink in 😂😂.

Simon was spot on. It's clear Amorim has a plan and is prepared to accept the pain to get there. He was the same when he started with Sporting. Just a question whether our fans have the stomach for it. He's told us clearly things will be difficult and he's explained clearly why that is. He knows what he is doing and he knows these players are frauds.
He warned the leadership not to appoint mid season. They didn’t listen so we have what we have. He has not had the off time to prep the team correctly and is doing it In front of all to see. I’m happy with him, intelligent and he will whip the team into shape. We need to get rid of the cancer first.
I admire Amorim's self belief and conviction. Why should he take all the heat when he's been parachuted in mid season to take over a toxic team in a shambles of a club with no support at all during the transfer window? Playing safe, compromising one's beliefs and towing the party line will get you slowly sacked. Being bold at an early stage is Amorim's only chance. Well done.
Pep struggled at first, Klopp struggled at first, Arteta struggled and still is despite 8 years. Ragnick called this a few years ago and everyone laughed at him. Amorim is doing exactly what is needed to change our fortunes and toxic culture.
Mourinho still has the highest winning % for Man Utd manager since Sir Alex, and the most number of silverware. He should never have been sacked. I believe in Ruben. But if anyone were to replace him, it should be Mourinho!
Okay, so let's put this into perspective. They brought Amarin in at the time that they did. They gave him no option but to come in at that time and not at the end of the season. The reason they did that is so he could come in and, knowing what style of play he's going to play, bearing in mind that you've alluded to all of this before, by the way, Simon, so he could weed out the deadwood, know exactly what he's dealing with, get rid of as much as he can in January, and get ready for the summer to see who he can work with, who he can bring through the ranks from the under-18s, under-21s, and obviously see if we can purchase players within the windows. The players aren't fit enough. You can see that when they're running around. They're not fit enough. I don't know why that is, and that's not Amarin's fault either. That's not down to him. He has been trying to do his finest, best 11, which is very difficult. He is already picking out the players that he knows he wants to keep, but at the same time, he is also letting people know that everybody is for sale, pretty much, which is fair play, and the simple fact is they are not playing for the badge half of these players. They are overpaid prima donnas, a lot of them, and it's disgusting. If they can't adapt, they're going to have to go. You look at what he did at Sporting. He came in, and within, I think it was a year, he got rid of pretty much all the players bar two, I think it was, and then he rebuilt the club from that. Now, United's board knew going in to hiring him, they knew exactly what he was about and everything else, so they have to back him. The style of play works. We've seen at Sporting, a very competent team now in Europe, not so much after he's left, which again goes to show a lot about who he is and what he is, but that's the way it is. And United fans need to get behind him, and United board need to really get behind him, and all the pundits and all the ex-players need to stop trying to analyse and over-analyse everything when he blatantly comes down and says the honest truth that everybody's thinking. He's not hiding behind things or blaming things on a football, or referee decisions or anything else. He doesn't sit there and cry and moan about any of it. He doesn't throw players under the bus, really, in the sense of he gives honest answers to questions. Just give him time. He needs time. He said there will be ups and downs, and he said judge me in 18 months. And if we can't do that, then we shouldn't have even hired him!
I’m a big YANITED fan and people need to listen closely to Simon He talks so much sense in this section He’s backing Amorim and explains What he believes is Amorims thought process and approach perfectly He warned of short term pain If you have confidence in your ability you back yourself to get it right We just need to pray he gets enough results along the journey to buy more time Patience and time isn’t what you get unfortunately but I’m backing him all the way Well said Simon 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That was a statement best reserved for the dressing room. No use in airing dirty linen. Having said that the only major problem I have with his management is his constant tinkering with the lineup.
I don’t often agree with these so call pundits, but I do agree with Simon that Amorim has a plan. He wanted to come in for the Summer but was told by INEOS and co that it was now or never. He would have had some idea of the team status, but is probably blown away by how bad the squad is. He has said it on multiple occasions that players don’t run back when we do not have possession. Chief culprit being Rashford.
Amorim is a great manager. If you don’t want him at United we’ll take him back at Sporting. Amorim left Benfica B team as youth coach because they wouldn’t give him fiull control over his players. This is a man who took Sporting from an Abyss and made us league champions. He warned everyone this wasn’t going to be easy. Give him this season to see what he needs because next season he’ll have the players he needs to compete.

A trainer should never blame his team. He should instruct them better, or change the tactics. His players are mostly players for their national teams. So they are the best of their countries. Amorim should acknowledge the fact that he fails as a coach.
I’ve said before and I’ll say it again. The biggest problem has been poor recruitment, MU paying overs the odds for sub standard players, Fergie sometimes payed over the odds but at least he got a tune out of them. Amorim knows the majority of the squad are not good enough, at least he had the balls to take the job. Time is of the essence and he needs it. I think his recruitment policy will be better than what’s happened in the past.
But systems take time to bed…..I don’t understand the puzzlement over the pain he did say it will take time to bed in. Brighton play back 3 and win a lot cos of the time they took to bed in as well as personnel
Amorim is spot on, he has a bunch of players that Ten Hag brought which then got him sacked because there not good enough, the board need to back Ruben with the players he wants not a bunch of cheaper alternatives, the club wanted Ruben now back him.
Martin Keown really doesn't understand how things work in football. Formations and tactics aren't dictated by the players. The manager dictates that. The players either have to step up, or given the resources to get players in to play the way the manager wants. Pretty simple.
I wouldn't be so sure about that, amorim is speaking the truth, he will defend the players only if they deserve it & we will defend amorim because he deserve it. A carpenter wouldn't work with plumbing tools & a plumber wouldn't work with carpenter's tools, the point is he hasn't had one signing that will improve his playing style.
Same thing happened with Ten Hag. If you don’t hold managers accountable for the wrong decisions they make you basically give them a free run. And it eventually it ends up turning toxic like how it did with Ten Hag.

Trashing your players when you are responsible for selecting the team, the structure and tactics is not a “breath of fresh air”, it is cowardice. Never throw your players to the wolves of the press and fanbase, waiting as always with rabid teeth to tear the players to pieces. Poor judgement. Amorim has much to learn.

Under Ole United scored 110 and 116 goals, only bettered by City and Bayern..
Overrated club and a shithole place to live. The people cant speak English properly and rats are crawling through the city.
Well said!! 👏👏👌
He fell off the last 2yrs tbh, he single handedly knocked us out of the europa
De Gea almost singlehandedly lost the FA Cup final and got us knocked out the Europa League his final season. You're just being sentimental because Onana isn't good enough. Every one knew De Gea was a problem before he left, he was out of contract, underperforming and on 300k+ a week
As Ralph Rangnick said Man Utd needs open heart surgery!
He was talking about the hierarchy and squad. There's only 7 players left when he made that comment, most of which don't start regularly, so it's invalid as the squad has mostly been overhauled (mostly under ten hag). The problem is ten hag bought us utter rubbish.
Every manager Utd had had has been given money to spend. Rinse and repeat stuff. Trying to only ever buy success the way Fergue did.
We had the open heart surgery but picked Ten Hag as the dodgy surgeon

Manager is positive: "They're delusional"
Manager is negative: "This should be handled in house, manager is insane and is using it as an excuse"
Manager is neutral: "This manager is boring, not telling us anything we dont know and I doubt he has the chops for Man Utd".
If you're reading this comment in 2055 it'll still be valid .
Absolute facts
Ole was positive - got hate for it
Ten Hag was neutral, said basically nothing all the time (which I think was mainly down to media training, and the language barrier) - got hate for it
Mourinho and Ragnick were honest, and so is Amorim now - they also got hate for it
Bottom line is the media is so against Man Utd its unbelievable
Facts!!!!
Facts. Not just Talksport tbh, 99% of pundits are like this.
Simon is the clown running the show
This constant nonsense about formations and tactics need to stop.
Spot on! 👍👍
This manager is the worst so far. MU have a half decent squad. God knows they cost enough. They are quite capable of being in the top 10 with a half decent manager.
Yes. Spot on
The tactics and the formation prevent these issues. Saying this doesn't matter show you don't know anything.
Just nonsense this formation is not used that often and we see why it doesn’t work in premier league and with this squas

You can't play 4 at the back and win games that way because these players will never want to learn a new system after that. Also, I'm sure the Board brought him on mid-season expecting some losses to make a change

Once again Simon talking the sense on this show ,I would love to have a discussion about Manchester United with Martin so often he contradicts himself and leaves himself wide open.
Let's be real to do what he did at Lisbon he's gotta have a clue about coaching. He's not a chequebook manager like pep he unearths little gems and turns them into stars .
Elite coaching?😂😂😂😂😂😂 you 🤡
Absolutely correct. Spot on.
Still can't see what coaching he has done
How many of these current players played under Moyes and Van Gaal? You 🤡
Ten Hag completely finished Manchester United for good. He sold a few useful players remaining and brought in all the garbage.

Martin Keown 0 ball knowledge
In 12 years DeGea made 17 mistakes leading to goals.
In 18 months Onana has thrown 10 in... This is our number 1 problem...
Onana only makes unbelievable saves when they shoot directly at him. Most bad goals he is like a tree rooted in the ground. Or, he rolls the ball to the other team, like in Brighton game.
@eugenelindsay4173 exactly
@eugenelindsay4173 we would have actually been better with a statue in goal yesterday... Ddg single handedly kept us in games but all we got told is he's useless with his feet... Give me a keeper that keeps the ball out of the net instead of a clown who looks like he's won a chance to play on telly
I wouldn't throw Onana under the bus like that but to be fair why let De Gea go? He was world class and gave confidence in the back.

Does it matter what his reason was for saying it, he’s not wrong. These players aren’t fit to lace the boots of ex generations.

Well done.

Ok be the first losers is classic.
Pep struggled at first, Klopp struggled at first, Arteta struggled and still is despite 8 years. Ragnick called this a few years ago and everyone laughed at him. Amorim is doing exactly what is needed to change our fortunes and toxic culture.
Ruben is 💯 the man yo see us through this
Mourinho still has the highest winning % for Man Utd manager since Sir Alex, and the most number of silverware.

If they get relegated several times maybe they can be bought by Wrexham owners.

Never underestimate Amorim's intelligence. He's letting the board know he needs the backing he was promised.
The stats say we are the worst Man united team and Ruben knows that, he said it but the stats show it
The players should be held responsible and should be paid on performances
The question that needs to he posed to the media is "what do yall want him to do" because nothing he does is good enough
The stupid clueless incompetent owners keep changing managers. Let the players sort it out themselves
It's a rare feeling to be in agreement with Simon Jordan but been happening a lot since Armorim was hired
Keown needs to try managing a team!
It’s not the manager or the system! It’s the players who were brought in
You will all regret doubting Amorim
Martin Keown really doesn't understand how things work in football. Formations and tactics aren't dictated by the players. The manager dictates that. The players either have to step up, or given the resources to get players in to play the way the manager wants. Pretty simple.
Fans ars so quick to praise this manager it wont last long.

Amorin's quote is taken out of context; he was saying to the media that they are chasing headlines by their questioning, and he knows their agenda. So he sarcastically mentions their controversial headlines they are looking for!!
There's an element of truth to what Amiron is saying. However Ragnick did the same and was criticised and ignored. Also these are better players than there league position the job of a good manager isn't to buy a new team its to get a team working regardless of the players at his disposal so yes the players are failing but he's failing badly too

Amorim is striking whilst his position is at its strongest to predict his career
