Time stands still when Sinead sings this. I have always loved this cover, the wonderful Prince couldn't have had a better voice than hers to sing it. Sinead's vocal was among the best, she went through the octaves so effortlessly. A truly talented artiste, who endured so much agony in her youth which, strangely, created such talent in her art. I believe the death of her son Shane was the last straw for her, and that she died from a broken heart. I'm not religious, but I hope that Sinead is at one with Shane now and that they are both at peace.

My brother, James Tod (RIP) managed Sinead during this time, and he gave me a cassette of her album shortly before his sudden death in Nov '97. I played this song over and over again, full volume, while driving - fabulous song, awesome live performance, holds special meaning for me everytime I hear it.

Time stands still when Sinead sings this. I have always loved this cover, the wonderful Prince couldn't have had a better voice than hers to sing it. Sinead's vocal was among the best, she went through the octaves so effortlessly. A truly talented artiste, who endured so much agony in her youth which, strangely, created such talent in her art. I believe the death of her son Shane was the last straw for her, and that she died from a broken heart. I'm not religious, but I hope that Sinead is at one with Shane now and that they are both at peace.
