That seems like the most likely answer. Charlie probably still wants a diplomatic solution to the extermination issue, hence why the team bothers defending the hotel at all rather than hunkering down at her father's palace which is probably much more defendable. The soldiers, it's self defense, but killing the first man and leader of the exorcist legion could lead to an escalation of conflict. Alastor fighting Adam at all seems to have been plan B after he managed to break the shield barrier. His behaviour in the fight is nothing like in previous times Alastor uses force. Firstly, he is full of bravado, going as far as to say "f*cking", Alastor almost never swears. The only other time in the show he does it, it's directed at Lucifer and it's a visceral insult full of vitriol, something that he couldn't control. Second, his priority is evidently pissing off and distracting Adam, he doesn't attack at all through half the fight just dodges and mocks him, getting under his skin to ensure he stays pissed at him in order to keep his full attention. Finally, their fight takes place away from the rest of the battle where Adam can't see the situation or turn his powers against the others, simultaneously, it means no frenzied cannibal (or Niffty) can get a cheap stab in to kill him, so he won't get hurt and make things worst. If you are willing to give the writers credit that this was all carefully considered and part of the in universe, unexplained, plan, then Alastor was definitely just a big distraction here while Charlie's army tried to thin the numbers of the angels enough to force them to retreat (or maybe they whole plan was just buying time 'til the dad cavalry arrived), I've used tactics like those in strategy games. However, it's evident that everyone grossly understimated Adam, he might be a mortal soul, but he is WAY older than Alastor and age seems to be closely tied to power in this setting. Add that Alastor is seemingly handicapped after his misterious 7 year exile and the Radio Demon suffers a humbling defeat too early for his distraction to have a meaningful effect. It's kinda sad if you focus on the superficial level of the character since losing in such a humiliating way makes him loose his intimidating aura. But, if you pay attention to his scenes before and after the battle, you will notice that he was starting to like the people at the Hotel. That close call puts him back on track and a spiteful, humiliated Alastor, angry at himself for being weak on so many levels is honestly scary, if he could have ever hesitated in destroying Charlie's dream and everyone in it to get what he wanted, that is out of the question now that helping them almost got him killed.
He was likely trying to weaken Adam before giving the final blow. Another thing that is suspicious is the shield that Charlie said alastor gave to him (she brings it up that its his, and that implies that it isn't from carmine) Maybe that means he has some angelic weapon stored, since that same shield turned into an angelic trident
He probably had something up his sleeve. I just think he got caught off guard by Adam's strike. I have to wonder if his shadowy powers have a weakness to heavenly light he wasn't aware of.
Well adam killed Sir Pentious without the use of an angelic weapon aswell so it's entirely possible that super high level magic can still kill them, it's implied that Luci was about to kill adam before charlie stopped him so it's clearly not that they are immune to everything but angelic weapons, just that they are the most effective way to kill for regular sinners

I think Alastor is actually out of the 13 overlords ranked at like number 7 now. Before Vox defeated him? Rank 4 or 5. Here's an analysis of the overlords we've seen with names and do anything. Vox, Valentino, Velvet, Zestial, Carmilla, Rosie, and Alastor. All we know for sure is that Alastor slaughtered the old overlords, and only kept Zestial and possibly Rosie around, but she could have come in after Alastor. Either for his power being too strong or Alastor liking the guy personally and who wouldn't like Zestial? We also know that Alastor just barely lost to Vox in a fight and most likely took a 7 year recovery period. Vox tried to get Alastor to join his crew being the AV squad or something. If we assume Vox is the strongest of the V's and that the three of them combined make the strongest collective. (And if you kill one the other two gang up on you because, who would put up with them otherwise?) That means Alastor individually was almost as strong before his defeat as Vox. We haven't seen any other Overlords do anything combat related except Carmilla in her dance battle scenes. I'm not sure if she could land a hit on Alastor or not if he fought like he did against Adam, but it's a toss up of speed vs magic powers. We know Alastor can tear a soul apart that's weaker than himself and broadcast it's screams across the radio waves and that seemingly killed the previous overlords off for good acting as a substitute for an angelic weapon with raw power difference. Overall point is Alastor probably is probably middle end of the curve. Rosie doesn't seem to have any powers, she's just loved and respected by her people. And the other 6? They didn't even say anything how important/powerful can they be?
I had a thought of my own, where I assumed that Alastor had made a deal with Lilith and in season 1, Lilith ordered Alastor to help Charlie in building her hotel, However, at the end of episode 8 of season 1, it was shown that if Lilith wanted to stay longer in heaven then she had to stop Charlie and automatically She would order Alastor to Stopping Charlie's efforts to build her hotel. My theory is that Alastor and Lilith will be villains in season 2 (THIS IS JUST MY THEORY)
If Alastor knew more about Adam, his powers and his fighting style, along with not getting too cocky, he would've definitely won, Adam is too dumb to actually put up a fight against an informed Alastor. Alastor is scary powerful but he's still a mortal soul that can be harmed by angelic steel, thats the only reason he was one shot. I bet he could take on an angelic blast and live, but being injured majorly, considering angelic powers seem to be meant to kill mortal souls.
I get the feeling were gonna get another scene of Alastor after his leash is shed, going against someone more powerful than Adam and winning. At least i hope so
Nahh, unfortunately, Adam is a lot stronger than alastor. Its implied that alastor was putting his all into it, but even ignoring that, Adam also wasn't going all out. Besides, alastor is stated to be weaker than Charlie, who also can't take Adam
I think the interesting thing is Alastor had a good showing, and maybe could have won because he is more skilled. he just got surprised when Adam showed to be stronger and broke his microphone. He clearly isn't used to being surprised and thus lost. But if he kept his cool, then he could have kept easily dodging Adams attacks and whittling him down. Saying that it is nice for him to finally have a moment where he is properly humbled because until now he has been coasting through everything and never once shown an ounce of fear, even while antagonizing Lucifer himself.
not even close, adam was toying with alastor, the second he got serious it was over, if he noticed alastor could do damage he would just fly up and nuke the entire hotel and evaporate alastor, just like he did with pentious and the whole "cutting the hotel in half" thing
@@last6368Hes not weak. Think about it there are billions of sinners so even if he was top 1000 he would be top 1% of power in hell. Hes just not strong compared to other demons

Alastor's attacks did no damage to adam at all. yes Alastor got a few hits in, but notice how there isn't a single scratch on adam from any of those hits. The moment Aadam even started trying he instantly one shot Alastor who I will give credit did start dodging before he got hit allowing him to survive. Adam is far stronger than what people are giving him credit for. he even beat Charlie who is meant to be the 3rd strongest character in hell below Lucifer and Lilith.
true, Alastor was just cocky as you can see, he didn't put effort into killing Adam, he may not even wanted to kill him. Alastor didn't turn into his wendigo form when fighting, he did shape-shift a bit but not full murder mode. I'm pretty sure the deal that Alastor made took away most of his power so if he had his full power then he absolutely would of. Alastor was a bit distracted by his broken staff, if he wasn't then I believe the fight would have kept going. It was only fair for Adam to go against Lucifer though, they just needed a way to write Alastor out for a moment.
@@LakkzScratch More than get him out of the scene for a bit, we also got from his song later that he is in fact, currently nerfed in power by his deal.
Why didn't Alastor sneak in a hit with angelic steel when he had several opportunities to do so, here? Because the story structure and pacing requires that Alastor lose this fight. Duh. Just from where this fight is placed in the episode, you kinda go in knowing Alastor is gonna lose. He gets a couple of fun moments, but we're not far enough in for the conclusion and obviously Charlie and/or Lucifer still need to have confrontation with Adam after this.
I think Alastor would win if it weren't for Adam's weapon Now, hear me out before you say "cope". See how Angry and frustrated Adam was when he was fighting? He was trying. See how calm and collected Alastor was when he was dodging (with ease I might add) and fighting? Then all of a sudden Adam pulls out the overpowered weapon and one-shots Alastor? Dunno, just doesn't seem like Adam could have won without his weapon Plus he's probably much stronger without being in whatever deal he's in
Would be cool if alastor deal was with God and he actually learned some life lessons from the og himself meaning why alastor is still eviel yet humbled by Adam hurting him
Considering that Niffty was able to merc him just by stabbing him in the back, Adam really ain’t shit without angelic weapons. Too bad Alastor got a bit too overconfident and didn’t properly dodge the attack that broke his staff. Otherwise I think he could have won the fight. But we all know the writers just wanted Charlie to have her own OP moment. Alastor is such a scene stealer lol
Alastor got several really good hits in. He easily would’ve won if he actually used angelic weapons with those hits instead of pointlessly attacking an angel with regular demon magic. Is there a lore reason for this? Is he stupid?
Adam was toying with him also. He was just swinging small rays of light against alastor while when he was fighting lucifer he was leveling building and making craters
He's deal literally has nothing to do with he's power, it is fair why adam beat he's ass he's an angel with angelic powers-hax which it's stated that raw power angels are much superior to raw power demons, plus alastor is just an overlord who also might be stolas victim tbh

Interesting concept. Has a certain spin on something I had thought about back in episode 5.
Literraly 10 sec later Adam destroys Alastor and make him like Hurt Sans
If Alastor knew more about Adam, his powers and his fighting style, along with not getting too cocky, he would've definitely won, Adam is too dumb to actually put up a fight against an informed Alastor. Alastor is scary powerful but he's still a mortal soul that can be harmed by angelic steel, thats the only reason he was one shot. I bet he could take on an angelic blast and live, but being injured majorly, considering angelic powers seem to be meant to kill mortal souls.
0:23 Alastor: Prepare your ass because i gonna activate the ultra istinct
0:04
That ‘Ah ah ah~’ got me doing unholy shit
No, he isn't... but he is trying to become the next Satan.
the ass whopping that we missed out on is crazy, bro really just stopped dodging just to let adam hit him like bro you had the bag why are you selling
the average dark souls boss fight
And then he proceeds to almost die in one hit after Adam gets angry
I get the feeling were gonna get another scene of Alastor after his leash is shed, going against someone more powerful than Adam and winning. At least i hope so
Alistor wasn’t even trying, if he was he would have 100% won that fight 🗿
Alastor fans coping hard 😅
Let’s be honest here, there’s a high chance Alastor would’ve obliterated Adam if he went all-out.
Nahh, unfortunately, Adam is a lot stronger than alastor.
Its implied that alastor was putting his all into it, but even ignoring that, Adam also wasn't going all out.
Besides, alastor is stated to be weaker than Charlie, who also can't take Adam
adam didnt even use a single light beam in this fight
Adam would vape him instantly
YOOOOO THE SOUND EFFECT 😂
Alastor was messing with Adam and total could’ve won if he went a bit harder
The outcome would've been the same either way, Alastor really isn't that strong.
It kinda seemed like alastor and Adam were comparable in power except Adam’s angelic nature and the edge that came from that
not even close, adam was toying with alastor, the second he got serious it was over, if he noticed alastor could do damage he would just fly up and nuke the entire hotel and evaporate alastor, just like he did with pentious and the whole "cutting the hotel in half" thing
Comparable!?
I got the impression alastor was just getting cocky and couldnt put up more of a fight
Ur right about the title my guy
nuhuh, hes pretty weak actually
@@last6368Hes not weak. Think about it there are billions of sinners so even if he was top 1000 he would be top 1% of power in hell. Hes just not strong compared to other demons
@@isaiah5519 You do know overlords are in the middle of terms of ranking, right? He gets dog walked by a homosexual owl with a star obsession 🥳
@@last6368 I know that. Alastor is overrated but hes not weak.
@@last6368 Ars Goetia is literally the scholars of the cosmos, of course an Overlord is weaker
It'd be a shame if Alastor hit Adam so hard it replayed 3 times.
Face it, we all got mad when alastor was beaten, we are all like that 😈
what if he made a deal with god? and thats why he said in the end HE will be pulling ALL the strings
Interesting...
NAAA THAT SYNC
I feel like alastor didn't show his true potential just yet
Sadly everyone really saying he overated but you got a point though
What if he is actually God who lost a bet at his own game.
Alastor fans in full copium mode.
Adam was literally not even trying until he got annoyed.
God got bored and made Alastor to stir things up
The problem with alastor is just that he looks so cool but got beaten so fast
0:13 foreshadowing
I've been told that Alastor would have won, he just got distracted, otherwise, Adam would have lost that fight.
He got distracted by what exactly. He was staring at adam the whole time and lost. Show me a timestamp of him getting distracted
true, Alastor was just cocky as you can see, he didn't put effort into killing Adam, he may not even wanted to kill him.
Yeah. I felt like they did my boy dirty a little bit.
Nah, Adam was just to much for him…
Why didn't Alastor sneak in a hit with angelic steel when he had several opportunities to do so, here?
Because the story structure and pacing requires that Alastor lose this fight. Duh.
Just from where this fight is placed in the episode, you kinda go in knowing Alastor is gonna lose.
He gets a couple of fun moments, but we're not far enough in for the conclusion and obviously Charlie and/or Lucifer still need to have confrontation with Adam after this.
Is it possibke that the studio gave adam plot armour to show to the fandom that lucifer is stronger than alastor cuz he lost to adam 😊
theory: alastor is jesus christ
Yes.
Alastor didn’t break a sweat
Ye but he broke his skin, pride, and staff instead
I think Alastor would win if it weren't for Adam's weapon
Now, hear me out before you say "cope". See how Angry and frustrated Adam was when he was fighting? He was trying. See how calm and collected Alastor was when he was dodging (with ease I might add) and fighting? Then all of a sudden Adam pulls out the overpowered weapon and one-shots Alastor? Dunno, just doesn't seem like Adam could have won without his weapon
Plus he's probably much stronger without being in whatever deal he's in
yeah bro and i could beat the rock if i had a gun
@@noah.8534 funny, but that isn't an actual argument
Would be cool if alastor deal was with God and he actually learned some life lessons from the og himself meaning why alastor is still eviel yet humbled by Adam hurting him
Talked a big game until Adam OHKO'd him.
I didn't know alastor edged😨
💀💀💀
I want more Alsator
Alastor unblocked ultra instinct man 😎😎😎 😎
Alastor could've beat him if he had better technique-
WEIVE NATION CERTIFIED
just cutting out the part where Adam nearly killed him I guess
Bro LowtierAlastor out here
btw if alastor would have used 100% he probably could solo all of them angels
Thats a nice theory
Proceeds to get one tapped
Why did it feel like alastor was fighting at 1hp in this fight
You cut the part where he got on shot lol
Alastor got several really good hits in. He easily would’ve won if he actually used angelic weapons with those hits instead of pointlessly attacking an angel with regular demon magic.
Is there a lore reason for this? Is he stupid?
soul reminds me of bleach and bro is on fraud watch now
What sound effect is this? 00:24
Dragon ball ultra jnstinct theme
K tysm
What if he actually is God but he made a bad deal
Hes a sexy god you forgot that
Alastor was toying with him mostly
alastor is significantly weaker tbh
@@last6368yes
Adam was toying with him also. He was just swinging small rays of light against alastor while when he was fighting lucifer he was leveling building and making craters
What just happened?
alastor certainly didnt seem to going full power, but adam easily stomps.
I really hope the deal doesnt halve alastors power cozz even with full power he still woulndt be able to beat adam
I thought you meant it literally as a theory.
He is not God, but certanly strong.
Ah ah ah 👆👆👆
Honestly I think alastor wouldve won if he didnt have his deal
We dont know what his deal is yet. It might not even be power restricting
Or if he had mastered ultra instinct. 🙃
He's deal literally has nothing to do with he's power, it is fair why adam beat he's ass he's an angel with angelic powers-hax which it's stated that raw power angels are much superior to raw power demons, plus alastor is just an overlord who also might be stolas victim tbh
I think that alastor is awesome but sadly he is not more POWERFUL than adam. However I think that alastor can beat adam because adam is not focused Like alastor said adams sloppy
I am so making 0:04 a meme
