I know this feeling. Last year when my pup died, we couldn’t afford the added cost of his ashes (the emergency visit cost us over $1k). A month later right before we were leaving to visit our mothers, I received a letter from the veterinarian that was with me that night. She had stamped his paws and mouth on a card for me to keep. I cried for hours. I still can’t look at it without balling my eyes out. Stay strong Stephanie. It’s very surreal at first. I’m sending you all my thoughts and hugs xoxo
I looked so awful when I put my dog down due to his cancer returning I just got out of there as fast as I could. When the Vet called to say I could pick him up I waited till closing time. They brought out a beautiful box with etched glass with his name and dates. I said there must be some mistake. They said Nope. He sits with me in my dining area. They must have pooled the staff to pay for that. They knew him for 15 1/2 years. ❤
I feel this. When my dog had to be euthanised I asked about getting the ashes and the vet said "I dont suppose you could afford it" which shocked me so much and when I said, well what happens if I cant and he said my dog would be disposed of as clinical waste :( . So that was what happened as I was homeless at the time. Never really got over this :(

I kept my dog Ginny's urn in my room. Whenever it gets too much after looking at her photos & videos in my phone, I just hug the urn. It does help with the grieving process. 6 months next week, still miss her everyday. Sending you & Philip a virtual hug. 🐾🐾
I had to pause the vlog @ 0:43 to say something. You are doing something. Grieving is doing something. By allowing/going with this very natural process and by “doing nothing” this allows one to properly heal in the way your whole being needs to. If we try to resist it or ignore it, it will resurface in a way to gain your attention. So later later on when we do remember it won’t be as hard bc we’ve allowed ourselves to grieve. I will tell you what I told my grand-nieces when their little dog died. We should not cry when we think of our lost pets, but rather smile because they brought us such happiness when alive, and how lucky we were to have been the pets family.
Even though the loss of Lancelot is still raw, the gathering of such lovely family and friends are like a good dose of happiness tonic. An anniversary celebrated with a delicious meal, lots of laughter on a summer evening in France. As you often say Stephanie, life is good and should be shared. When one of my two cats died, the remaining cat stayed on a mat at the bottom of the basement stairs for a few days. It was so sad to see her there. Animals have such strong feelings ❤
How do you explain to animals the absence of their pal? Last year we had to put one of our dogs down and the other kept watching the door for him to come home! After a while, he seemed so depressed and melancholy and died a year later. (Just this past July 8th) They were pair-bonded and the best of friends! I miss them both so much! I’ve been a Mama to furbabies for the last 30 years! I’m taking a break for a while because my heart can’t take anymore loss for a while…….

Also, if a pet passed at home, they let their other pets sniff them before taking the remains away. It’s like they’re saying goodbye, but it’s still possible they’ll get depressed if they’re bonded. 🥺😢
@@floralwallpaper5553 I was going to make the same comment. We always have two dogs. Our last dearly departed fur baby was unusual that he died at the vets. So I brought his dear little body home so our older dog could say goodbye. I just laid him on his mat and our other dog, sniffed and nudged him for a while. We then went outside and all three of us (my husband, myself and our older dog) buried him under a tree. Our older dog was sad for a few weeks, but he wasn't constantly looking for Mitch, which can happen sometimes, if they don't get to say goodbye. Also a comment in general. When it is time to put our old fur friends to sleep, we have never yet had a vet refuse to come to our house to do the procedure. We take our loved one into the garden, and just hold them as they get the needle from the vet. No pain, they just slide into an eternal sleep. I think this is the best way IF you have the opportunity. I know that this is not always an option.
Well done for getting on with life I don’t think any of us will forget the wonderful Lancelot and seeing ruby made me tear up as she always was with him but I soon started 😂 at Philip when he was laughing at Davey telling about the seeds xxxx

When you're ready, believe me, you will know when, you'll love another dog once more and it won't take away the love you'll forever harbor for dear Lancelot. I'm a fur mummy for over 30 years and lost many dog babies along the way, but have always let more dogs in my heart and home after the grieving process, which only you would know. Ruby is waiting for Lancelot...animals are so incredible
When one of my two cats died, the remaining cat stayed on a mat at the bottom of the basement stairs for a few days. It was so sad to see her there. Animals have such strong feelings ❤
How do you explain to animals the absence of their pal? Last year we had to put one of our dogs down and the other kept watching the door for him to come home! After a while, he seemed so depressed and melancholy and died a year later. (Just this past July 8th) They were pair-bonded and the best of friends! I miss them both so much! I’ve been a Mama to furbabies for the last 30 years! I’m taking a break for a while because my heart can’t take anymore loss for a while…….

@@stephaniewilliams9469 so sorry for your loss. I’ve learned somewhere that letting them sniff something that their friend passed in, like a blanket, could help. Also, if a pet passed at home, they let their other pets sniff them before taking the remains away. It’s like they’re saying goodbye, but it’s still possible they’ll get depressed if they’re bonded. 🥺😢
@@floralwallpaper5553 I was going to make the same comment. We always have two dogs. Our last dearly departed fur baby was unusual that he died at the vets. So I brought his dear little body home so our older dog could say goodbye. I just laid him on his mat and our other dog, sniffed and nudged him for a while. We then went outside and all three of us (my husband, myself and our older dog) buried him under a tree. Our older dog was sad for a few weeks, but he wasn't constantly looking for Mitch, which can happen sometimes, if they don't get to say goodbye.
Also a comment in general. When it is time to put our old fur friends to sleep, we have never yet had a vet refuse to come to our house to do the procedure. We take our loved one into the garden, and just hold them as they get the needle from the vet. No pain, they just slide into an eternal sleep. I think this is the best way IF you have the opportunity. I know that this is not always an option.

I'm ever so sorry Stephanie et Philip. You'll never forget Lancelot, never. That love will endure. When you're ready, believe me, you will know when, you'll love another dog once more and it won't take away the love you'll forever harbor for dear Lancelot. I'm a fur mummy for over 30 years and lost many dog babies along the way, but have always let more dogs in my heart and home after the grieving process, which only you would know. Be blessed always dearest.

I used to watch your blog and just to see the happiness in this preciousness love is something to hold onto, sometimes is needed to be healed, but I think you can get another dog, even the same kind of the same breed that will be there and will be of sunshine hope And joy day and night and forever more
