- After Percy encounters a "backing signal", James proves that a really useful engine follows their signal's instructions.
At last! I've teased this one a few times already, so I'm glad to finally have it done! The story behind the story is a bit amusing - I was inspired by listening to Spanish Flea, and also TheBuriedTruck's awesome story, James' Special Coal. Hope I'm not treading on anyone's toes, I think I did a really good job with this one. Probably the most comedic regular Trainz video I've written. The music was done by the amazing AngryBirdFan98, thanks Kris! You made such a fun and upbeat score, it really brings the video into a league of its own. NewbPrimian's narration also brings the script above and beyond, your delivery is spot on. Also thanks to the Sudrian Junction team for sending me their PBR Percy, and Alex EmailChan for his updated James! I hope you enjoy!

percy : a backing signal
james : a sleeping signal
Underrated
You know, nothing’s more bonkers than waiting on a Signal being on the blink.
The fact his driver and firemen just let him sit there, just shows how they're not good at their job. They let the engines make their own decisions and don't advise them to do what should be.
Nevermind the fact that James was "waiting" on a Distant Signal...
This video is superb. Seeing James misinterpret a broken signal as set at danger and getting into trouble (which is very *James* of him) is so funny and satisfying to watch! A fun follow up to Percy and The Signal.
Every shot here is cleverly thought out and then there's also then attention to little details. The coal hopper loading the truck (complete with coal dust) and James' crew and the guard walking away during the time passage sequence are two that come to mind.
I don't get how you're still underrated man. This is high quality stuff!
Nice to see a continuation of Percy and the Signal
I knew there was a reason I loved Percy so much. He's such a savage!
He's a little rat isn't he? LOL
Yeah Percy can be quite the savage at times XD
This was brilliant, I giggled when Percy very sarcastically said "Did you fall asleep waiting for the signal to change?"
Fantastic music score and great narration! A really nice follow up for Percy and the Signal!
Surely TFC could've said: 'That's enough, Percy!' He went too far after all
I honestly thought the twist would be that James was waiting at a distant signal
Love James tired face, it looks like he woke up early and went to go get coffee
Looks like me, early in the morning.
@@caiomestre9313 Yes
The fandom calls that face: "Cantankerous Old Man James."
This was quite an Amusing Story, Kris’s Music really made this quite enjoyable. It’s nice to see a classic simple story, I can’t wait to see what you bring out next
Oh how lovely you used the unused Fat Controller Theme!
This is a most amusing story. Great job!
Oh hi, I've seen your comments on old vids :)
Great episode. Very funny too. I like how you had Henry's "Fishy" theme rearranged for James. The ending theme also sounds like a near-indentical reproduction of the original.
Poor James. Always the punching bag in these instances. XD Nicely written!
I was hoping for a story where James didn't get harrassed but was a little disappointed
@@evanclarke5561 Yeah, would be nice to give characters like him, Sir Handel and Duncan a break, y'know?
@@SegaMario Of course
this had very awesome music throughout. i could listen to it all day.
Bruh the signal is yellow, that means proceed with caution. Not stop. I though that’s how the story would’ve ended, with Sir Topham Hatt telling James about what yellow signals mean instead of saying the signal was broken.
in "privacy" i cracked up that "put you lot on a bus!" is an insult
6:29 Not just James was behind it, Sir. Gordon was behind it too.
Nice to see a follow-up to a season 1 classic!
Todd, i think you mean a season 2 classic since Percy and the Signal was in that season.
@@amyeliason6309 Yes, i just had a look and i forgot it was in season 2!
Great Story!, Fantastic.
This story has me imagining if they'd made some standalone specials taking place during seasons of the show.
If this were an actual special taking place right after Percy and the Signal, I imagine this airing in 1987.
I love the way you weaved James’ theme with Percy’s theme at the beginning
*What Percy would have said too*
Percy: “He has red paint, so he stopped.” He joked, then bursts out laughing.
this was like lunch, you eat it every day,and its always good
Amazing video, mate! Brilliant music, just like the original show, and great narrator!!
I say, the scores on this episode is fantastic!!! And the voice acting is aslo amazing!!! I just LOVE your stuff!!!!!
Well still when it came to the signal I think James DID do the right thing. He couldn't have known it was broken. He was right to stop he could've been in an accident otherwise. It was the maintenance people's fault for not informing sir Topham Hatt before James took that train
and its James's crews fault for not letting the signal man know they were waiting
To be fair; that broken signal should've had a sign put on it to indicate to engines that it was broken.
i agree
this is fantastic!
Stopped In His Tracks is a season 2 episode released on Wednesday, 17th September 1986.
Percy and the signal was a season 2 episode so buddy I'm afraid you're wrong, as for the date I'm not sure, but still I think you got a bit confused in-between this fanmade special and the actual season 2 episode.
Lovley little story!
Yes
That very good
The different arrangements of James' theme tune were great. I liked the narrator too.
I liked this a lot keep up the good work m8
Oh-ho-ho! This is really amusing!😆
This deserves to be part of the tv series!
I love it!
Felt sorry for my little brother Percy.
Wow!
Stopped in his tracks takes place between episodes Percy and the signal, and Duck takes charge
Also love the diddle at 1:24

This is lost season 2 episode after take place event of "Percy and the Signal".
I just subscribed! Great work
Another one! And so soon as well
James get trouble now
5:47 send an owl to Harry Potter at once! Dobby is alive and well and living amongst us!
I just noticed that Percy sounds like Dobby here lol XD
Great.
James: Well I feel sheepish. XD
LOL hah i guess we could all agree the jokes on James XD HA HA HAAAAAAAAH XD
We need a TVS adaptation of this
Whilst this is a good story, I am bothered by the fact the signal at the station and the one James stops at are actually Distant and not Starter/Home signals (which are red). It's the red ones that the engines have to obey. The yellow signals are there to warn for caution.
I was actually expecting the resolution to be that it was a distant signal and it was simply telling James that he would have to stop at the next station, meaning that he had stopped and waited for hours when he didn't have to. Oh well, good story otherwise and an easy mistake to make since the main show also ignores that there's a difference between distant signals and regular signals.
I think that the fact that he stopped for a distant signal is even funnier. 😂
Too bad Gordon didn't get any sort of punishment considering that the signal joke started with him. Feels a little unfair for James to get ALL the blame...
Gordon and James is always full of themselves.
Nice!
James hasstopped at a Distant Signal and not at a red home Signal
The distant signal has no yellow light though. I'm no expert on semaphores but I do know that in Trainz you can't get them to work 100% accurate like left branch and right branch signals.
So it's likely just poetic license.
James stopped at a Yellow Distant Signal and not at a Red Home Signal
@@ChimpManZ1264 so James broke Rule 55 by not remembering to inform the next signal Box? while he was stopped
@@ValveGearVyce I understand that some people can make a mistake about railway signals
James would sit there all night to protect his ego
7:20 Pop Goes The James!
So you're telling me... The guard never thought to check with the signalman? Not even the driver or fireman? And they stayed with James throughout the whole thing?
This Scene look similar of Season 8-9.
1:38 James looks like an elderly man
haha backing signal go brrrr
Now that is funny

I felt sorry for the little Percy!
But percy is a signal expert
5:27 does anyone know what theme this is?
This is a distance signal.
Not a home, which means James can pass that signal when its 'at danger' because its a warning for the next signal up ahead.
I wish people stop making this mistake
Thank you explaining what it is
@@ValveGearVyce or even from different countries
Where did James' driver and fireman go when he fell asleep ?
Home
Classic thomas was funny
He used the title as a pun. Lmao!
A few questions. When Percy interjected, why didn't the Fat Controller admonish him too? James was about to explain what had happened. Furthermore, why's Duck here? Wouldn't this episode have taken place between Percy and the Signal and Duck Takes Charge?
As for Percy cutting in, The Fat Controller is cross with James, and Percy tells him that James was the cause of the "backing signal" thing in Percy and the Signal, so The Fat Controllers listens to Percy because of that. As for Duck being there, Duck Takes Charge is the episode directly after Percy and the Signal, so I thought it made sense to include him at Knapford

Wouldn’t he be stopped on his tracks
GMC And Chevrolet And Pontiac And Oldsmobile And Buick And Cadillac
This story makes no sense. Why would James' crew wait at a distant signal in the first place? Second, even if we're going to treat the signal like a home signal, why wouldn't James' crew walk to the signal box to notify the signalman, or pull the train cautiously? Then, why in the world would James' crew just up and leave him? Wouldn't they take him back to the closest depot at least for his wash out? It's not like Percy and the Dragon where Percy's crew had to leave because Percy was stuck.
