Dude, this series is the most badass, underrated and dismissed out of hand. I love joe mads style, love the way the team put it in the game. And totally love how much more impressive the 2nd game as a whole. Love you guys at gunfire and wish you all the best with darksiders3

@@TDOSS24 I feel like the tracks of Genesis are better composed but are a bit more generic. The boss soundtracks are very good, but you could swap some tracks between the bosses and you would not really notice, because they don't really set a specific mood/atmosphere. For me personally the tracks of darksiders 2 have more atmodphere to them.

Thank you for sharing this story, this series was the first I played after losing my arm and thanks to them adding the ability to remap buttons I was able to play using only a razer naga! Joe Mad has always been one of my fav artists and I had no idea these guys were behind Hunt Showdown! Simply incredibly talented studio that still doesn't get enough credit!

Loved it! Yup my problem with Darksiders 2 was the size, it was huge. I'm so excited for Darksiders 3 and then a 4th and 5th where we can fullfil the 4 horseman coop.

Came here after the reviews. Continue your plan to make darksiders 4 and bring strife to life devs, not all devs get the budget like some other big companies out there. Darksiders 2 was one of my favorite games of all time and joe mad's art style is godlike. Continue on this and remember, you don't make games for those arrogant reviewers, theirs is but a a single opinion amidst millions ahi played your games. And im one of them!! More power to you vigil and gunfire games, and am looking forward to play as strife!! He and death are just badass!!

Thanks a bunch for this documentary. Working in the industry myself, it was very nice to see how other companies, franchises and just, human beings behind all this work and cooperate together to form huge, massive ideas that become projects and sometimes even Hits, and obviously, all the struggle and hard work involved in everything. I'm so glad they could pull it all off and keep pushing forward to a path to success. I'm awaiting the release of Darksiders 3 with such impatience, and this documentary hyped me even more.

Darksiders II is my all time favorite game! I beat this game 5 times, once on ps3 and ps4, twice on WiiU, and once on 360. I liked the first one but something about Darksiders II that really resonated with me. I just loved everything about the game, story, gameplay, etc..

Both games to me were great. Darksiders 2 was amazing in my book. The only problem I had was the world was a little empty. The dungeons were great and the sound track was just amazing. I think if the world had more it would have been better. My favorite part and what made me play the game more was the random loot. I love the random loot aspect of the game. Not knowing what you going to get and then you can create upgrade the way you want to upgrade them according to your spec was great. THANKS

The first concept of War looked sick, would be cool if we see that as an unlockable in Darksiders 4 or 5 which ever one when War is back in it. A Straga skin would be sick too for War.

I played both DS1 and DS2 on the Xbox 360 (though I am bummed that there is that one achievement I can't get, for sending an item to a friend, because the THQ servers were kaput and as far as I know never went back up), and I am going to try and get them for the Xbox One during the spring sale (the Warmastered and Deathfinitive editions are bundled). Once DS3 comes up for preorder, I am _definitely_ going to be getting it.
And I will be looking forward to the series (hopefully!) finishing off with Strife's chapter of the story in DS4 sometime off in the future.

I really don't understand why they didn't include the prototype blue armor guy as an unlockable skin. Even in the remaster they kept it out and it's such a cool design. I'd even go so far as to say the prototype War looks better than the final design.

This game is well on its way to being of my favorite game series to play besides halo and the first 3 gears of war
I enjoyed the first two Darksiders games and really was looking forward to Darksiders 3 and doing a review of that game on my channel.
But the $70 price tag for the newest game is too much for me.

I hope that these guys stick to the Darksiders II game style for the rest of the horseman. And leave the co-op for a fifth game, or something else latter

I'm in for DS 3 only because I believe in the franchise and really want this baby to have 4 parts that my pussy ass can finally beat one day before I die. Somehow i didn't pay any attention to darksiders until recently...had it dismissed as some diablo knockoff for the similarities in the art style.
Oh boy, was i wrong....got the second one for my ps3 and now a want the remasters and darksiders 3. Such a good game with remarkable character and environment art.
These are one of the most underrated games ever! Art style is sick, combat good and the theme is something different.

IF ANY OF THE DEVELOPERS EVER READ THIS: Please know that while darksiders was not an entirely original idea in gameplay - it was an AMAZING experience. I love these two games, they are among my top games of all time just for there anachronism. I am waiting and was so worried the story wouldnt be continued. Thanks for all the hours spent going through your games time and again - and good luck in the run-up to release of darksiders 3!!

I couldn't help but think the same thing. This is great quality work. Some of the best I've seen on TH-cam. It's truly amazing to me that they don't have that many subscribers. There has to be something I'm missing. Maybe it just has to be about time. They'll definitely get there. It's just too good not to.
nomercy8989 I'd guess it's because they've haven't covered any major well known games. Darksiders and Bioshock are cool but aren't as big as others in their respective genres.
This is the type of game industry that made me fall in love with gaming. These two titles really didn't get all the attention they deserved.

Darksiders has been one of my favorite gaming series, right behind the 'Final Fantasy' series. Just can't wait for Darksiders III for the PS4. Looks good.
My fav guys in the whole industry, so much passion and dedication. All of Gunfire and Airship Sindycate is just great. Seeing the so down to earth and full of passion Joe Mad , David Adams + the rest was just a great experience, inspirational. Thank you also Gameumentary for this.
I'm so glad there was a whole segment with Jesper Kyd in this video. Darksiders 2 had one of my favorite soundtracks in a game, and I'm so glad to have seen some behind the scenes on it's making.
Bought the first darksiders on 360, loved it, bought it again years later on pc and still loved it, bought the war-mastered edition on ps4 pro and i still love it,
Bought darksiders 2 on pc and ps4 later and still think its one of the best action game.
Now super excited for darksiders 3.

P.S. I'm really happy that developers acknowledged that second game was way too long. My playthrough took ~60 hours and I'd be really a happy person if it took 25-30 hours less. Also, it still feels like a miracle that the third game is in development - I remember feeling pretty sad when I read that Darksiders IP was bought, but not the studio - I honestly thought that they just bought it with no intentions to use it, just because it was cheap. And I was really happy when it turned out that the same people are making the third game. It looks like this whole "thing" has some kind of guardian angel making it work.
That's how we want you to feel while watching our documentaries! We really try to focus on the personal stories over focusing too much on the technical stuff. You should definitely check out our The Deep End Games Documentary if you like that sort of thing!
The game's length keeps players busy cuz short games like The Order: 1886 feels lackluster and a waste of money

1) I didn't felt like Order was too short. For me, the most ridiculously short big-budget game was the first Homefront - I couldn't believe that it was over when I saw final credits.
2) Some games just overstays their welcome. For me, Darksiders 2 showed almost every gameplay mechanics way too early. Last summer I played Castlevania: Lord of Shadows which has very similar vibe, but I never felt bored while playing it (and I took me ~50 hours to finish it). It just kept delivering new gameplay mechanics, new locations with different settings, puzzles that don't replicate each other, etc. I guess it's not really about longevity, but about keeping it fresh for the whole walkthrough and that I didn't felt with Darksiders 2.
Damien Scott I mean short as in the player does not do much unlike the God of War 3 and Gears of War 3 games that keep players busy and immersed in the story and gameplay
@ Damien Scott Are you kidding? Darksiders 2 wasn't long enough! It was just so good that after finishing it in about 50 hours, All I wanted was for there to be an additional 20 hours or so of story content, along with larger health pools for bosses so I can metagame the various builds...

Joe Madureira and Roger Cruz share a very similar art style, I don't know if it has a connection, but if it has, maybe is the fact that Roger Cruz is brazilian and Joe is descendent of portuguese...

That thing caught my eye every time I saw it in the background but sadly collector's items of that caliber are exclusive to the people who make the game. I think the two coolest collectors items i have are the halo 3 helmet and the gears retro lancer.
That statue is made by Project Triforce and you can still find some on Ebay. There's also the alternative of the smaller statue Gaya Entertainment made, which is more affordable (I paid 75€ for mine).
LE: Just read the part of limited to people who made the game. That is utter nonsense, it was produced years after the game was made, hell it even shipped after THQ went bankrupt, it has nothing to do with the dev team. This isn't a developer exclusive-goodie, this is just a limited run statue produced by a known manufacturer.

Honestly, I just started playing Darksiders (II). I saw it on Xbox Game Pass, downloaded it & started playing. I can't get enough of this game and I'm like "how in the world did I miss this??" I've been gaming since the atari and like many others my first memory is being captivated by Pitfall. Anyway, I just started following Darksiders III and can't wait for its release. Seeing as how I've just become immersed in Darksiders, this docu came at the perfect time, which I found out about from your tweet about it. Y'all seem like a great team. Certainly an insanely creative one!!
