Very impressive, watching people cut and glue then turn is daunting for most, what I find in all of the video's Ive watched as a non wood working person but newly retired with equipment available for usage, is the teaching for wood turning, as an example, Ive seen as many chisels as there are timbers well to me it seems that way, yet I dont have a understanding what any of them are for, other small things that get over looked like shaping of the chisels, selection of woods and timbers, ones to learn on for cost and ease of turning, safety issues, the do's and the dont's, Im sure there a many people like myself that do enjoy watching but would also like trying to actually do it, anyway, I wish you the best and hope to see many more of your pieces.

Thank you so much for checking it out. I find TH-cam to be great for inspiration. But for learning, I prefer the old school way of a book and hands on experience. A book that helped me at the beginning of woodturning was Learn to Turn by Barry Gross. Great basic information and a few projects to follow. Be safe and best of luck.

Really nice job! I’ve seen people do this design in cutting boards before but I really like the platter. This would be great filled with meats and cheese for parties and see peoples reaction as the pattern is slowly exposed. 👍

Thank you for checking out my videos.I wish you luck in duplicating the other platter. These 3D designs are a lot of fun. Take care

Another winner... and the video quality is so much better this time. I might have to try one of these in the near future, Thanks for the inspiration.

What a stunner! Love the shading effect, and the round platter design. And I like your commentary, with a bit of mild music and actual sound. Also, cute kitties. (That may have been the last video; I'm a bit fried from a heck of a month.)
    Cheers, good sir!

you do a great job of explaining what and why you do each step. Very inspirational, and a little daunting. I mean, accuracy at the sub red-hair range. How many tries before you started filming? Keep 'em coming!

Thank you for the compliments. I'm happy that you took something from the video. I designed this the night before the opening scene. I had to take advantage of having my daughter around to run the camera, and it made quality time together in the shop.

First time viewer; you do exceptional work!
Craftsmanship is a multi-disciplined and multi-dimensional journey. Thanks for sharing yours.
If I may, one thing I noticed that perhaps could be improved? Some of the wood you use produces quite toxic dust. The critters in your shop have no defense against cumulative exposure to the dust produced by your activities, and could harm them. Perhaps modify things so they are also protected?
    Thanks!

Thank you so much for the kind words and checking it out. To put your mind at ease a little, I do run an air filtration system in the shop along with dust collection on the tools.

Right! The color and grain are wonderful. Wenge can be a little difficult to work with though ☺️

Cool project. I’ve been fascinated with these 3D pieces. Gary at TH-cam channel Papa1947 recently completed a couple of them. When you mentioned grain direction, you were referring to the drain running in a way to help with the illusion and not so that the grain all ran in the same direction - correct? I do a lot of segmented turning and always try to keep the grain running in the same direction. I did a 3D platter. A few years ago and it wasn’t possible to run it all in the same direction.

Yes, I meant in that comment, that each color has it's own grain orientation throughout the entire piece. Thank you for your interest.
