Pigmentation & vision
The choroid is heavily pigmented so that it may absorb the light that has entered the eye and passed through the retina. Without the pigmented choroid, light would reflect off the sclera and pass back through the retina again. Consequently, a paucity of melanin in this tissue increases scattering of light within the posterior segment that may, in turn, increase photophobia and reduce visual acuity. On the other hand, increased pigmentation does not affect the vision (as in Negros).
In free circulatory anastomoses, many arteries anastomose with each other (net like).
The blood vessels of choroid has no reflex because they are deeper flat (less convex) and have thin wall (see this picture Retinal Blood Vessels
