The reason should be fairly obvious: if being indicted would disqualify you from running for president, you could have a situation similar to Russia where the FBI would just 'find' objectionable material on your computer and, viola, you're disqualified. It would be so horrendously easy for a corrupt administration to block any person they felt like from running for government. If there is serious public doubt that the charges are real, well, the public can just vote you in anyway, despite what the corrupt administration was trying to do, because you can still run. Of course in this case there is zero doubt that Trump is 100% guilty and then some (like, I doubt we know 1% of who he showed those docs to, and I guarantee many of the parties would be US enemies). But say he wasn't; it's just a way of preventing those in power from abusing that power.
I think the problem with him still being allowed to run for office is the “founding fathers” couldn’t imagine someone like Trump having the power that he does. They weren’t prepared to pass laws or constitutional amendments to prevent someone like him from running for office.

DJT is far more experienced with the US law and court system than even some of the most experienced lawyers. The average law firm handles about 25 cases per year, so in 20 years that law firm will handle about 500 cases spread over about 3 to 6 lawyers. Now compare that to about 4000 cases that DJT has been involved in over the course of his business life. The guy deserves an office space in every courtroom

The world would be astonished. America's barely functional democracy and the extent to which the judiciary has been undermined by the right and its money means that there is no justice in America, and no rule of law for lawmakers. Thank you for saying on air, what I, and millions of other Americans are saying and thinking...and questioning Why is he being allowed to even run for president? He should NOT be allowed to run for office-for any office in any government situation. I wish someone would explain that to me. It's beyond ridiculous that this is going on. The reason should be fairly obvious: if being indicted would disqualify you from running for president, you could have a situation similar to Russia where the FBI would just 'find' objectionable material on your computer and, viola, you're disqualified. It would be so horrendously easy for a corrupt administration to block any person they felt like from running for government. If there is serious public doubt that the charges are real, well, the public can just vote you in anyway, despite what the corrupt administration was trying to do, because you can still run. Of course in this case there is zero doubt that Trump is 100% guilty and then some (like, I doubt we know 1% of who he showed those docs to, and I guarantee many of the parties would be US enemies). But say he wasn't; it's just a way of preventing those in power from abusing that power.

The average law firm handles about 25 cases per year, so in 20 years that law firm will handle about 500 cases spread over about 3 to 6 lawyers. Now compare that to about 4000 cases that DJT has been involved in over the course of his business life. The guy deserves an office space in every courtroom

Democracy has to be governed by rule of law, and the US is showing everyone that the wheels of justice do grind slowly, but they get it done. Also, USA is quite transparent compared to Canada, everything is out on the table.

America's barely functional democracy and the extent to which the judiciary has been undermined by the right and its money means that there is no justice in America, and no rule of law for lawmakers.
