      Thanks Whit. We agree that someone knows something. Hopefully the DNA will work at some point to solve it!

    We lived in DeLand from 1989 until my son graduated from DHS in 2007. I will never forget this case. I hope and pray this is solved so Laralee and her family can get the justice they deserve.

      Would love to see this case get solved soon! I'm sure it was big news in the DeLand area at that time.

    Thank you for this video. My aunt went to school at deland high the same year that this happened and just told me about it. Are these case files available for public record since it is so old? Did you speak with investigators themselves or research independently? It’s incredulous to me that they apparently have DNA but haven’t attempted even a genealogy search to find the killer. This poor girl has seemingly fallen through the cracks and justice is deserved

      The case files are not available. We did speak directly to the investigator in charge of the case. All the quotes in our story were directly from him. They are still holding back a lot of information that only the killer would know. We really hope this one gets solved soon!!

      @McAndrewTravels after this long they shouldn't hold anything back except one or 2 major things. The Spears need to see something done, the dear sister too

    I live in Hillsborough County, Florida and follow many true crime podcast. Sadly, I never heard of this case until now. Truly heartbreaking. Thanks for bringing awareness to this case.

    This happened the year before I got sworn in at VCSO (LT. McKnight was one of my sgt’s for a couple of years before his promotion) and just before I moved to the county.
    Some long time friends of my parents moved to DeLand in the late 80’s/early 90’s and they opened a nursery there at the corner of Deerfoot and Spring Garden. They remember seeing her walk down the street from the bus stop that day.

    Amazing documentary with excellent insights/information. My question is do they have a DNA profile of the suspect? If so Genealogy is a incredibly powerful tool.

      Thanks Charles! They wouldn't confirm it, but they act like they do. Genealogy would be a great idea in this case if they do though. We've seen multiple stories where it has been used to solve cold cases!

    It wasn't a Ford. It was a Chevy s10 & it was my neighbors.

      Can you tell me what neighborhood in DeLand?

    • @markmark2469
      @markmark2469 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@floridagirl386 That is the right part of town. Btw, I never said your story was fishy. Just that it was sketchy and not complete. I have lived in DeLand for a long time and it would be great to see this resolved.

    • @floridagirl386
      @floridagirl386 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markmark2469 what do you mean the right part of town? Lara lives on Deerfoot,I live on Gayle.

    • @markmark2469
      @markmark2469 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@floridagirl386 Good gravy. (I was NOT inferring anything racial) - if that is what you mean? What I was saying is... Gayle Drive is in the Southwest part of town and so is Deerfoot Road and so if the suspect lived on Gayle Drive they would be in the right section of town and near enough to Deerfoot Road to heighten my suspicion that they were involved and so therefore...the right part of town. If you told me the suspect lived in Daytona Park Estates for instance - then I would be a bit skeptical. Someone familiar with the Deerfoot Road location had to have done this in my opinion.

    They need to run DNA and use genetic genealogy to solve this case.

      Certainly a great idea! Would love to see this one solved one day soon!
