    I have a 14 pro max, and I’ve had every single iPhone since the iPhone 3GS
    The iPhone 8 was my favorite phone by far. Unlike the video, this really wasn’t a popular iPhone. It came out about a month before the iPhone X so it was easily forgettable.
    This was the first phone with witless charging, and had pretty much the same internals as the iPhone X but in its more reliable home button form. I loved this phone.

    I've had the iPhone 8 since 2018 and I've really enjoyed having it, it's a great little phone and perfect for everyday moments. I'm looking to upgrade soon because my battery, camera and charging port are on their way out, but I really like the Touch ID and clicky home button and will definitely miss those aspects when I upgrade to a newer iPhone 😢

      I’m feeling this I’ve used this phone since 2019ish and since I’m going to college now it’s time for an upgrade. I love the size and the home button so so much, sadly the battery life on mine is god awful now and it’s mad slow, bro is barely hanging on so I’ve decided I will likely upgrade to the 13 mini just to have a similar feel :7

    I still use the 8 and been using it since almost 2 years now, and it has not disappointed me. Albeit, the battery life is now at 75% which is very rough, and I have to charge it almost 3 times a day, but running daily tasks on it is a piece of cake as I don't play games. I lost my 12 Pro Max earlier this year and had to use an 8 Plus for a few months until i got the new 15 Pro Max. All i can say is, the 8 Plus is still a good phone, perfectly capable and even fun to use as a phone (calls and text specifically). It lacks everything else that makes a great phone today great, but it was pretty cool to get to use it again and it was capable pf doing what it needed to do with no issues.

    I have both iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. 8 Plus is my daily driver, and the normal 8 is a backup. I absolutely don’t plan on upgrading them, since I am in love with that beautiful creamy gold colour that no other iPhone model has! 😍 They work perfectly fine, the battery health on the normal size 8 is 86%, and on the 8 Plus is 84%. I charge it usually once or twice a day, but I work in the office so it’s not a problem for me. I have tried my husband’s 13 Pro, but I wouldn’t change my 8/8 Plus for anything, haha! I will use them for as long as they work without issues! 👍🏻

    I don’t know why people think just because an iPhone no longer gets new features that means you need to run out and buy a new phone. Security updates and app updates will still be available for years to come as well as support from Apple so there’s really no need to avoid buying an iPhone 6s/7/8/X or to replace one already in use. Traditionally jailbreakers stay behind on iOS updates and they’re generally fine and also enjoy the perks of a jailbreak.

    I have the 14, but I still really miss my OG SE. It was the perfect size, and it just felt more polished and premium for some reason. I just don’t feel that in the newer iPhones, even the Pro models. They just feel glitchy now. Crazy how a budget model feels better in the hand, than the most expensive one. That’s like anything else nowadays, it seems like cheaper things tend to be better than more expensive things.

    Had it for 6 years, upgrading to 15 pro today. It's worth upgrading now since battery life went down to 74% (the only downside it has, alongside becoming alittle slow with recent updates), and tech changed so much. I think it still holds against at least non-pro iphone 12.
    I must say I'm surprised from the build quality of iPhone 8, it has no ceramic shield yet it fell quite a few times (no cover whatsoever) and barely scratched on the *aluminum* edges. I've seen iPhone X and 11 shatter for much less. Also, the design is gorgeous(they are still making iPhone SE out of it)

  • @Spacemonkeymojo
    @Spacemonkeymojo ปีที่แล้ว +12

    I purchased an iPhone 8 in early 2018 and in the ~5.5 years I've been using it I've only had to replace the battery once (it lasted that long because I always kept it charged between 40% and 80% so when the battery started to not hold a charge well I stopped doing that and used it normally). Sadly it's already saying the battery needs a service at 89% health even though I had it replaced by Apple, so I'll probably need to replace it in the next few months. I'm also still a massive fan of Touch ID over Face ID. I have an iPhone XR for work so I know what using Face ID is like but I'm just not a fan of it, and I'm also not a fan of swiping up from the bottom of the phone to close apps as it doesn't feel as ergonomic as using the Home Button.
    I definitely think that cameras on iPhones have shifted dramatically since the iPhone 8. iPhones these days tend to take photos that are more saturated and processed compared to the photos from my iPhone 8 (as long as the lighting conditions are good as you mentioned). In terms of upgrading I do have an unboxed iPhone 13 Mini I purchased last year which I'll probably eventually upgrade to but if I didn't have that I would've happily considered upgrading to an iPhone SE 2022 (the maximum 256 gb capacity is just not as future proof for me).
    Overall the iPhone 8 has been an amazing phone and I'm happy I owned it! TOUCH ID FOREVER!!!!

    Last year, I went from the iPhone 7 to the XS, while my kids went from the X to the 13 Pro. I'm really not a fan of the weight of their phone.
    I'll probably stay with XS until Apple stops giving it the latest iOS - thankfully not til next year - at which point I'm seriously considering swapping to a 13 Mini. It'll most likely be 2nd hand, but I really can't see Apple reintroducing a Mini - unless the next SE uses the discontinued size.

If you think a bigger screen and battery would be nice, you’ll get used to a bigger phone quickly - but hey, the minis are cheaper and you’ll just as easily get used to the 5.4 inch form factor as you would 6.1 or 6.7.

    I’ve never understood the argument that the SE 2022 is poor value.
    It’s (at the time) cutting edge power in a phone for $400, only slightly behind the Pro Max phone of its generation. It’s got a nice screen and a nice camera. It’s smaller than a typical $400 Android and lacks some of the bells and whistles you’d find on such a phone, but it also blows a $400 Android out of the water as far as performance, so if you want the best performance on a budget or just really love IOS, it’s a great buy.
    And…it’s a year and a half old. You can find it refurbished for around half off. For $200 you can get a phone that’s nearly as powerful as the $1100 iPhone 14 Pro Max. If that’s not excellent value I don’t know what is. You simply cannot find a faster phone in that price range. If you want bells and whistles, you could find an iPhone 11 or an older flagship Android for around $200, at the cost of power and longevity of security updates - those are good value too, if they have what you’re looking for, but in the new phone market and refurbished phone market alike the SE 2022 is the best bang-for-buck when it comes to raw power, hands down, not even close.

    • @Spacemonkeymojo
      @Spacemonkeymojo ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. Unless you need all the extra lenses (I doubt most people even use the other lenses most of the time) or power the iPhone SE 2022 would be a great phone. A bigger screen might be nicer to watch TV shows or whatever but it's not worth the price tag. I would've happily gone with the 2022 SE if I didn't already buy an iPhone 13 Mini as a replacement. Touch ID is also way more convenient than Face ID IMO.

    • @sparky6757
      @sparky6757 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Spacemonkeymojo I don’t worry about the price tag too much when buying a phone, if I’m gonna be using the same phone for 4-6 years and most of the cost of owning a phone’s coming from my cellular plan then it doesn’t make much difference to me if I’m paying an average of $20 a month or $30 a month.
      But, if you’re unable to pay $50-70 a month for your phone bill for the first two years of owning the phone even knowing that you’ll only be paying $15 a month for the last 2-4 years, yeah, a $400 phone will do a *great* job at lowering that initial two years of bills. Or a $200 refurbished phone’s probably not too tough to save up and buy outright.

      @@berk6123 120hz has nothing to do with raw power, I don’t know what comparison you’re trying to make but it doesn’t seem to be a good one.
      At any rate, when I get a Samsung phone this year I’m going to be turning off the 120hz refresh rate because it’s all but completely pointless, not worth the extra battery it draws. I’m not entirely sure I can even tell the difference side by side let alone appreciate the difference, so to me setting a display to 120hz is like turning on a lightbulb in a room nobody can see. What does it matter that a room’s illuminated if it’s not providing any benefit? It’s just wasting energy.

    I have never owned an 8 or 8 Plus, but have worked extensively in a software testing job with the 6s and 6s plus, as well as the 7 and 8 to a more limited extent. I also currently own an SE 2. I really like the design of these phones, particularly the plus versions. That being said, I would agree with you that the battery, at least on the standard size models, is too small to be truly adequate. I also own a X that has the same processor as the 8 and 8 plus that I use as a sort-of micro tablet on wi-fi only. It can be a bit laggy, but is largely OK for the low to moderate intensity tasks I use it for (no gaming). It also seems to be more battery efficient than the SE 2, even with a battery that has aged substantially.
    Sadly though, iPhones continue to lag technologically behind many Android phones that cost far less. My choices on iPhone going forward would be: 1. Buy an SE 3 (extremely outdated design, likely battery issues, decent price if one can find a good deal), 2. Buy a newer design iPhone (more up-to-date design, still not technologically where many much less expensive Android phones are, extremely overpriced IMO), 3. Wait and see what Apple comes out with (a plus size SE with an adequate battery or something along the lines of some of the proposed designs for the new SE 4 might tempt me if technological advancements are incorporated and battery life is good). Otherwise, I am likely going to be going with a lower mid-tier Android for my next phone (half the cost or less of a decent newer design iPhone with most of the same features provided for what I use a phone for, more open software environment, etc). As I don't want/need/use most of the features specific to the Apple ecosystem, moving to Android does not hurt me in that way.

    I had an iphone se 2nd gen but I had to sell it sadly because of battery problems and overheat. Then I bought a Xiaomi phone... Not my best decision... I will use an iPhone 8 in a few days now. I don't think it's outdated yet. Well it doesn't support any newer iOS versions but it's great on iOS 16. I will see how it performs soon.
