I'm amazed that you can do such an involved repair and still manage to video the entire job in such a relaxed manner. Well done, Jimmy. Happy New Year.
Thanks for the video Jimmy! I had a win today, I picked up a low mileage engine for the project car from the local U-pull-it, $500 AUD ($300 USD), less than half price of one removed already. I'd been watching it online and yesterday someone bought the transmission. That made pulling the engine a half hour job. Now I just have to go over the brakes, do the engine swap and send it for inspection. The engine is basically the same as on the Hyundai you did in 4 hours (without GDI though), I'll be happy if I come in under 10.
Always enjoy the videos Keep them coming hopefully your 2025 is starting awesomely I will check the availability of the Mercury 600 otherwise I have a couple 400R on stands ready to rock Love the Miami Vice plug at the end see you in the next one
It amazes me how RTV is used to seal major engine covers nowadays. SAAB started out with paper gaskets for the timing cover. They then went to a thicker almost cardboard like green gasket material. Then they came out with a metal reinforced composite gasket. Finally they discontinued the use of gaskets and had us run a bead of Loctite 518 anaerobic Gasket Eliminator. Took care of the issues of leaks. I'm surprised that Bill and Bob didn't steal that idea from Bjorn and Sven when GM owned SAAB. RTV just seems to be a touchy material. I always worry about squeeze out, especially around the oil pickup area where the oil pan meets the timing cover.
Had an “ever since you” lady come here blaming us for a fuel injector code and oil leak since we replaced her leaking radiator. That was fun trying to explain it to her
Man it is rough trying to explain when it happens. At the same time giving someone an estimate for all kinds of things they never asked about can mean an irritated customer also. Always grey areas.
great videos Jimmy, don't change a thing, ignore them fake youtube mechanics making content! You and South Maine only two worth watching, happy new year
Thanks for the content Jimmy. Enjoy each day of 25!
Thanks, you too!
I’m amazed you got all that done in half of a day. Great job!
Thanks! That was a good one.

Nice job, good find! Sounds like it’s gonna work out awesome!
Love the video thank you again for the info on the Buick encore very informative .
I appreciate that!
Jimmy, awesome job on the 1.4
Thanks very much!
Looking forward to the next year with you Jimmy. Man I will take a SBC front timing cover over that buick any day.
Yeah those Buick front covers are a pain! Haha
The new sound effects are appropriate. We should all triple check our timing marks like you did.
Appreciate you Randy! :)
Always enjoy the videos

Thanks very much! Miami Vice is the best haha.
If you find every body gone then its either a chop shop raid or a gut wagon showed up Jimmy 😅
lol
Why your channel is not number one on TH-cam for automotive repairs is a crime 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you my friend!
You gotta look at the green gobbler
I am not sure what is going on with it now. They never even mention it and neither do I. ;)
Those Encores seem like a 5 year 50k then trade in...doesnt seem to be easy to keep long term...
Yeah they’re getting to the point where they are all hitting those mileage marks and needing major stuff. Life expectancy is low.

Yeah, but I’ll take about anything over the cork gaskets. ;)
I didn't know Buick made an Encore, I used to have a Renault Encore.
That sounds familiar to me? :)
What did that Job pay? Hours
11 hours. Took about 9 taking my time.
Another Great day in the shop!
It's all a blur, I'm telling you! Haha
