I came up with the idea for this thing when the "german language files" discussion popped up in the new "Company of Heroes Online" forums.
A lot of people wish to have real german instead of "fake accent english-german" in Company of Heroes, so they sometimes replace their sound files with the german ones.
These videos will help those kind of threads and discussions. You can also discuss about what's better and what's not.
All sound files are taken from the German and English version of Company of Heroes. More parts will follow ...

Thats what the word says. Volksgrenadiere could be translated as peoples grenadiers. There got only the basic traning, they learned most things in combat, or from their squad leader. Those were mostly Panzergrenadiere.
In CoH there were used very often, but in reality they were not used very often until the end of 1944.
And the leader of the Volksgrenadiere is such a boss!

i agree with that guy who says that Volksgrenadiers have nothing to do with the Volkssturm :P
Volksgrenadiers were by no means elite units. They were named for propaganda purposes, but were just infrantry units raised after summer 1944. They usually lacked numbers, equipment, ammunition, and training. Some NCOs were veterans, but they were definitely no elite units (like Gebirgsjäger or Fallschirmjäger were).

Only at the end of the war "Volksturm"(=People's Soldier) units were in the Volksgrenadierdivision.The name itself was intended to build morale, appealing at once to nationalism (Volk) and Germany's older military traditions (Grenadier).Volksgrenadierdivision was a normal infantry division.Volksgrenadier divisions should not be confused with the Volkssturm.

Volkssturm means "People's Assault". "Sturm" means a ferocious attack, hence why the elite WW1 German troops were called "Sturmtruppen" ("Attack troops") which was translated to modern usage as "Storm Troopers".
The term "Grenadier" was used almost exclusively by the Wehrmacht in WWII in an attempt by Hitler to evoke a Nationalist, old Prusso-Germanic feeling of a strong army; Frederick for the Great, for example, took great pride in his elite Grenadiers.

Even though I've never played this game, I've played games with certian issues such as this. I think there should be both, you can turn it on in English mode or German mode. That way you get the best of both worlds..err...languages.
right click on the game and search on the options tab for languages. you should be able to find it easily. You may have to install the german language files and than restart the game.

Speaking AS a german native speaker I cannot second your argument. I may sound like reading but in my DEUTSCHE ears this is probably one of the most convincing voice acting I've heard so far.
Not just axis but also allies. When the british infantry is under suppression fire they will scream your ears off. My word on that.
Well, even I'm German and I must say, It has not really something to do with the Language itself, its just because they are in Fight and it has a somehow more Psychologic effect to concentrate you on this Pioneer Unit, if you ask twice, with a harder undertone

They're poorly-trained soldiers. Volksgrenadier means "People's Soldier" and they were originally intended to be a propaganda tool, however they eventually became just what their name implies; they were made up of the recruits too young (15-17) or too old (50-65) to serve in the normal Infanterie Divisions(mainly the ones too young) and were led by hardened officers. As such they typically had higher morale and numbers, but their fighting ability was doubtable.

Habe die englische Version vom originalen COH (damals wegen Angst vor Zensur) und mich deswegen an die englische Sprachausgabe gewöhnt. Die deutsche Synchronisation scheint jedoch einwandfrei zu sein. Kann die Leute nicht verstehen, die sich scheinbar nur aus Prinzip über Synchronisationen beschweren. Deutschland hat es in Filmen und Spielen echt gut getroffen. Die Synchronisationen selbst kleinster Serien sind meistens top!

So, essentially, they are saying "What do you want? WHAT DO YOU WANT?!" I do notice that there is more emphasis on the second utterance. I'm curious though - as a native German speaker, is the English version of the German speech quite laughable to you? I'm not even German and I know those are seriously poor accents. "Last one in gets no beer tonight!" always makes me laugh though. Danke fuer die Hilfe, Freund! Liebe gruss aus Schottland!
