A bridge specifically for public transportation, biking, and pedestrians sounds amazing

They have a term for that. It's called a pedestrian bridge. Why call it a bridge that is not for cars?

Pedestrian bridges don't typically allow multi-ton trams to travel over them.

That's like calling Market Street in San Franansico a pedestrian street. It's open to busses and taxis.

So long as it still has public transportation, I'm down.

Solution is a second new bridge for cars only. To appease opponents, charge a demand-based toll. Many would likely pay it.

See you in 30 years. Shouldn't you build the one you've been talking about for a decade now, before bullshitting us with a new one?

Then there is the 50/80 bypass they had all the land for.
      They sold it to developers.

Moving the local traffic off of i5 is a great idea.

The poor working class need more public transportation. You need those workers for people who have money that like going downtown.

One more lane HAS always helped alleviate traffic! What is this fool been smoking??!!! This is why people in California are fed up with bureaucrats and red tape and why a number of counties flipped from blue to red! They’re tired of this constant BS.

i hope you're kidding because this sounds like satire, studies have shown that implementing round abouts and removing lanes has no effect on traffic, and can create safer bike lanes and sidewalks. do your research

Folks working in buildings, shopping in stores and malls are in decline. What is the purpose of this bridge? Spend the money on maintaining and improving already developed publicly used areas.

Americans don’t bike. They have tried this for years in many cities and it never works out. I know some will cite that a few European countries have a strong biking culture and infrastructure but it hasn’t worked in the US.

San Francisco, Seattle, Minneapolis, Portland, D.C, and many more cities are prime examples of bicycle infrastructure done right, and it shows with how many people actually bike in those cities

@ I live in the Bay Area and I visit SF a lot. The amount of people who go by on a bike is still small. The hills can be brutal.

1 more lane has defiantly fixed a traffic problem at one point in the history of the world. it's so frustrating how democracy really just means constant gaslighting and manipulation. the fact that the overwhelming majority of scientific studies in the usa turn out to be wrong is directly related to how science in the democratic west is just a tool of the powerful for the mass manipulation of the public.
