    I have walked across that bridge and have rafted on the Arkansas river!! It was a great experience but scary when the wind blew on the bridge. I saw this train go by while I was rafting on the river! Have not ridden it but I hope to one day!!!

      I’d have loved to check out the bridge, but I didn’t have the time while in the area. The train is a great experience and is definitely worth going back to check out if you haven’t.

    You know, I have watched just about every one of your videos. I have always been impressed by the way you get your facts straight. Usually, when I watch videos such as this, I end up correcting the author of the video in a comment, letting them know all the mistakes they made. I have never once had to do that with any of your videos! That tells me you really do your research!
    You also have a very unique voice that seems to work well with voiceovers. But what really surprised me was when I saw what you look like! Dude! You’re just a kid! Lol……Hey, I can say that because I’m 66 years old! But seriously, you sound about 20 years older than you are! Anyway, keep up the good work! 😁👍

      Much appreciated! I strive for accuracy in the information I present in these videos, and I'm glad that effort doesn't go unnoticed. And you got it, I'm still just a kid (or thereabouts lol), but it's great to hear that despite my age, my voice fits for this kind of content.😊Thanks for the wonderful comment, and all the best!

    Most of the line beyond the end of passenger service is part of the Tennessee Path route through the Rockies. That line is out of service because of the grades through the mountains and mining traffic no longer using this route.

    FYI - The Super Domes were originally equipped with coach seats, not tables. I rode on one when I was a kid, and there are plenty of pictures in books and elsewhere that document the original seating. The day I rode in the dome, the air conditioner broke down. It was quite toasty to say the least.

    That very scenic stream in Colorado is the same Arkansas River that flows through Wichita, Tulsa, and Little Rock... Notice that the railroads followed a river to get through the mountains, as nature showed the way... Which reminds me of a Jimmy Stewart song, yes Jimmy sung in one film, Night Passage.... th-cam.com/video/KYvEmaQTzok/w-d-xo.html

    I love this railroad, and the opportunity to ride just a little bit of Tennessee Pass. You have definitely inspired me to start my own TH-cam adventures, and its nice seeing your take on a local to me, scenic railroad. If you ever want to do the Pikes Peak Cog, let me know. I have some friends that work there, and I used to as well.

      It’s a great railroad. I’m glad I could inspire another creator! I’ve actually already filmed a video on the Pikes Peak railway when I was in CO, but I appreciate the offer and help!

      @@LonestarTrips I look forward to seeing it when it comes out! It was one of my favorite jobs, operating on that line. Never the same ride twice between weather, wildlife, and the wonderful guests.

      @@Cabooseguy Everyone working there was super friendly and seemed to love their job. The driver of our train was excellent, and provided some great info on the line, as did the conductor.

    9:40 - I thought these two railroad companies battled for Raton Pass.

    • @devgupta8815
      @devgupta8815 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Also. But the AT&SF RR ( Santa Fe ) won that one, captured Raton pass ( thru which now runs the Amtrak SW Chief successor to the AT&SF s own Super Chief ) and permanently thwarted the Rio Grande' s ambitions to go all the way south to Mexico. The Rio Grande's NG route along the river of same name from Salida, CO via Alamosa, Antonio CO terminated at Santa Fe, NM, being a NG route, was not economically viable for international freight over long distances. So the D&RG headed west towards Salt Lake City, leaving behind the current route of the CA Zephyr, " Thru the Rockies NOT Around them " !

      It's on the to-do list! My schedule was pretty packed while I was in Colorado, so no chance to cover it while I was there, but I definitely want to go back and check it out.

    Thanks for sharing the great views on this route. I have heard about this route and would like to ride it some day. It does remind me a little bit of the views you can see especially eastbound on Amtrak’s Cardinal through West Virginia. You also parallel a river, I believe it’s called the New river, and pass under a huge suspension bridge crossing over the river high above the mountain ridges. I heard that once a year they even have people bunggy cord jump off the bridge.

    It was nice while they ran F-unit power. Now with the freight power, the romance is gone.

    Colour me confused. I thought Royal Gorge was in Colorado. But then you mentioned the Arkansas river. Huh? Where are you?

    • @LonestarTrips
      @LonestarTrips  12 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      The Arkansas River starts in Colorado, runs through Kansas and Oklahoma, and then through Arkansas where it ends in the Mississippi River.

    While in CO also try the other scenic RRs still running in the State e,g. D&S NG, the C & T, the La Veta ( all segments of Gen Palmer's great D&RG, as is the Royal Gorge route you just rode ). Then try David Moffat's ( of Moffat Tunnel fame, thru which now runs the Amtrak CA Zephyr ) Climax up near Leadville. Finally the CRM in Golden. Then to honor Rocky Mountain railroading shout out the old Rio Grande slogan ( to mock the much larger UP ) " Thru the Rockies, NOT around them ! "
