As a 33 year old going in a month...I can't wait to be around a bunch of 18-21 year olds who know so much more than anyone else. But hey, it's a growing experience for everyone. I just hope they appreciate it as much as they should.

Had a drill off once against my female cousin flight with my dorm chief while waiting to enter the defac. Basic was really fun at times
YESS we did that before chow with brother flight all the time, so fun!!
There were days our MTI team member would say "Why is sister flight louder than you guys?" or "You gonna let em do you like that?".....SSgt Washington was always lighting us up , she did not play lol!

@@Tinygiant4 It was a bit hard for the 1st to 2 weeks. After that it got annoying and boring.

@@Tinygiant4 That's normal. Just try to listen to what your MTIs tell you and be fast if you do that then you'll be fine. Also work with your fellow airmen as much as possible. And yeah. I'm at Fort Sam right now. 30 minutes from Lackland.

We never did. lol I shaved and brushed my teeth during my shower after PT

I’d wake up before reveille to shave an brush my teeth , then go back to bed pretending I was asleep minutes before the MTIs would come in lol

Yes you’d get yelled at lol, but just as long as you don’t get caught and your dorm chief and element leaders don’t snitch. Same goes for writing letters after lights out. I’d do that during EC duty 2200-0000 or 0000-0200
Civil Air Patrol cadet here! How can you *not* like sounding off? It’s *so* fun to just Command voice your lungs out, *especially* now that I’m a Cadet NCO (C/SSgt at time of posting)
There was one time I was going through some drill movements with a flight and my squadron commander came up to speak to us. After he was done I asked my flight if he was understood to which they sounded off. After which, I just went full almost DI level just “I SAID IS THAT UNDERSTOOD” to the point my Squadron Com. Was like “we didn’t join the USMC tonight!”.
TL;DR Sounding off, 11/10 would recommend even as a 16 year old
Does Civil Air Patrol wake up at 345 am? I remember hating sounding off because I was exhausted.
@@BlurredUniverse357 I didn’t mean any offense if I caused any, no we don’t, at our basic leadership encampment (our “BMT” effectively) cadets in training are woken up at only 0500.. I made the comment with midday in mind and not 0345 and such, my apologies
@@trx90vito29 hahaha, im not offended at all. You will understand if you and when you head to basic training. Im maintenance, so its going to take a lot more to offend.

I can’t only imagine what you have to put up with as a 27 year old airman lol. I’m the same age, and it can still be a hassle to motivate young airmen as a Staff Sergeant. Sometimes correction tools are necessary. 😅

at keesler the pt is 415 in our squadron. BMT PT is like 6am

My flight was also on the 4th floor, we were also the loudest flight in the squadron! We ended up winning top PT flight. Our sister flight did as well!

"Scatter brained" I feel you. I was at Fort Leonard Wood for the Army. We were folding sheets early in the morning. Everybody was moving fast.

I got ptsd from the cq coming over the intercom in the morning at reveille lol!
I’d lose my voice after every PT days almost most of the people in my flight don’t freakin’ sound off.

you just do laundry almost everyday. In the new dorms the laundry room is in the dorm, in the old dorms it's not. I was in the new ones

When do you get to use the bathroom? For example if you had to go in the middle of the night is that allowed?
Yep, in the dorms. You will have a lot of free time. Sundays are when the MTI’s aren’t there. You will literally spend the entire day folding clothes, cutting strings, maybe write a few letters, hang out with your wingmen, study…. Those days were long trust me. But ofcourse, when you are in flights where you have to march to go to certain places, you will not be free to just walk off to the bathroom then. It’s all about situational awareness to know when and when not to use the bathroom.
@@reimisia thank you! Are you allowed to use the bathroom/brush your teeth right when they wake you up or would that not be until after pt?
@@trapkoala8901 You will be able to do that when you wake up yes, regardless of if you have PT. You will be given time to do your military hair, wash your face (if you have that stuff), and brush your teeth. First week (zero week) of BMT will be a little more hectic. But things will definitely start to slow down during third week and you will have actual time to breathe and actually think about the little things like that.
