This is legit one of my favorite moments in television. That melody is so perfect and haunting it leaves me speechless. The performance by Connie Britton and Charles Esten is immaculate.
I liked Nashville from the start, but this is the first song to grab me, on a professional level. All those emotions. Connie and Charles nail that heartache. And for the topping, unhappy Hayden is reading the smoke signals from these sparks! And it's always good to see JD Souther. Wish they would have kept him. He gave the show some needed gravitas. And we get to see where Scarlett and Gunnar jump in.
This song is written by John Paul White of the Civil Wars- same band that wrote "If I didn't know better", the first song Gunnar and Scarlett sang together on the show.
This song and “I know how to love you now” are my top favorite of the entire show. The emotions Connie & Chip put into these songs on top of their already beautiful on screen chemistry…I don’t even have words. It’s just simply amazing and pure magic!!!
LOVE this song..."I know you're trying to move on with your life and Im trying to move on with mine...but...I love you. And that's just never not been true."
I was so glued to the television it was like I was in another world. This was the most beautiful moment I have ever witnessed on TV. I met Chip at a concert, where I did the "Meet and Greet." He spent 30 minutes talking to us and taking pictures with us. His wife, Patti was there and they were just precious together. I was so hoping he would sing this song with a back up singer or someone. Maybe next time.
Although Juliette is devastated, even she can see the chemistry between Rayna & Deacon and she is a fan herself as we see her subtly mouthing the words along with them as they sing. Good reactions by Hayden Panettiere
did this ever make it to top charts on public radio? I feel like this song as well as a few others from this first season are just impeccable country writing. We need more of this in U.S. right now...chesney whatever bs...this harkens back to true country. I just love it. who is writing like this these days? I see in comments below same person wrote If I didn't know Better.... sheer talent.
This is a very fabulous song n it's true when u separate from someone that you have been with for a long time. They do eventually realize that no one will ever love them the way you did so true
It’s crazy that after not hearing this song for 10’years, I can wake with it on my mind like I heard it last night There are some solid classics on this show
I dedicate this song to my husband Bruce King. I love ❤️ you so very much your sweet and loving wife Amber King. May our love ❤️ go on through the ages. I will love ❤️ you forever and always.
I thought they hit some real good songs with the guy that played the gay actor Chris I think his real name is? But yeah show definitely focused mor and more on drama less on beautiful music as it went
Lyrics Rayne: “ Don’t you try to tell me Someone is waitin They’re not waitin For you Oh, and don’t you try to tell me That you’re wanted That you’re needed ‘Cause it’s not true I know why you’re lonely It’s time you knew it too No one will ever love you No one will ever love you Like I do Deacon: Why are you always lookin for the limelight Ain’t you satisfied with me Oh, for once why don’t you get down off your high heels You’re no big deal Can’t you see Together: I know why you’re lonely It’s time you knew it too No one will ever love you No one will ever love you No one will ever love you Like I do Rayne: I’m all you got Deacon: I’m all you ever need Together: I’m all you’ll have No one will ever love you No one will ever love you No one will ever love you Like I do Like I do Like I do
He is a big time producer that wanted the young couple to record a couple of songs. He is encouraging them that they could be like Reyna and Deacon at some point. That is why she tells her friend, Okay, let's do it. She was afraid at first, to record.

The music in this series was amazing, along with the writing.
I’d give anything for someone to love me like Deacon loves Rayna. Fantasy! Love love this song.
the love they had comes from pain the runs real deep.
I think we all would want that.
I want this to be the song my husband and I dance to at our 50 anniversary in a few weeks!
A beautiful idea. Happy Anniversary! Enjoy the dance and the rest of your lives together in love 💏
Beautiful 🌸🐦🌞 🐱
You are a blessed couple! 🌈🎉
Congratulations on 50+ years 😇

What a song! The emotion is so real, hard to believe it was only a tv show...
Deacon will never love anyone the way he loved Rayna. Will miss their chemistry.
deb2zen I’d do anything for that kind of love.
One of the most beautiful moments on TV. Also, my and hubby's theme song.

This song is so beautiful. -)
RIP J. D.❤
Wish the show never ended!!! It was amazing! Chemistry between them could be seen and felt!❤
Deacon will always love Rayna no matter what to them.they remind of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill
My favorite song!🥰
Bravo! Intense
I love this song!
I love this song so much
who knew coaches wife could sing
I love this songs is so perfect.
My favorite song.
Great, great song written by John Paul White. He now performs it live.
Season 1 songs were the best. Almost the entire soundtrack was a hit. Shame the more 'soapy' the show got, the less focus and quality of the music.
This was the musical highpoint of Nashville, didn't get any better than this.
I thought they hit some real good songs with the guy that played the gay actor
Chris I think his real name is?
But yeah show definitely focused mor and more on drama less on beautiful music as it went
Truest true that ever trued
Lyrics
Rayne:
“ Don’t you try to tell me
Someone is waitin
They’re not waitin
For you
Oh, and don’t you try to tell me
That you’re wanted
That you’re needed
‘Cause it’s not true
I know why you’re lonely
It’s time you knew it too
No one will ever love you
No one will ever love you
Like I do
Deacon:
Why are you always lookin for the limelight
Ain’t you satisfied with me
Oh, for once why don’t you get down off your high heels
You’re no big deal
Can’t you see
Together:
I know why you’re lonely
It’s time you knew it too
No one will ever love you
No one will ever love you
No one will ever love you
Like I do
Rayne:
I’m all you got
Deacon:
I’m all you ever need
Together:
I’m all you’ll have
No one will ever love you
No one will ever love you
No one will ever love you
Like I do
Like I do
Like I do
Love this scene!!
I miss Connie's singing.
I really liked her singing in Nashville and she really improved as the series went on. Her mother was a music teacher.
@@conniemartin6724She also sang in theater 20 yrs ago
I love all music but this moves me like no other song...........
so true
The lyrics are so insulting, but it's such a beautiful melody and performance and mood that I'm mesmerized!
That’s the beauty of lyrics and the brilliance of the songwriting. The writer really thinks their person is amazing.
lovely song gr8t job
I miss the songwriting and the writing of the first season.
To the man that walked away from the woman who loved him. BJS

What was the guy sitting down signaling to the other couple?
