And so the old wolf after searching half the world, found his long lost pup, and defeated the hunters who chased her. But he soon realized that hardest challenge was learning to let go.
Southern Fried Media I genuinely cried tears at this ending. The worst part is the fact that it fits in much better into the narrative than the other two endings, and that's what makes it trully bittersweet.
Razvan Musat what really got me was my first run, i got the bad ending, I thought I was doing the right things by being a good parent to her. But no shes an adult and needs those extra pushes to become more confident not a smothering parent. I genuinely felt like crap when sat there and just welcomed death
Southern Fried Media When I got this ending on my third playthrough, I didn't felt angry, I didn't felt sad, I didn't felt sorrow; I felt exactly like Geralt described his own feelings, "I don't feel anything anymore." And that's what makes it one of the most chilling endings I've experienced in a video game. To know you're at fault for the bad things that happened and having no reason to live is much worse than death. *shivers*
After the last of us i thought i'd never ever care about a father and daughter relationship in a videogame but this game's done it just as good as the last of us. Witcher 3 is amazing!
Well Ciri should rule the empire, otherwise, without her, it would collapse, ending order, stability, and peace and engulfing the world in endless wars. I think Ciri should be empress.
CoreyStudios2000 To each their own I guess. But being a selfish father (kinda I guess), I could never let her leave me. And since, after the ending, I can't interact with her (not even like Gretka level interaction where same dialogues are repeated), this ending would have devastated me. And empire goes down and another one rises. So not too worried about that.
+admin8073 Yeah I fucking hate that, man. Although I understand that they most likely did this on purpose, I still hate it because it leaves me with an empty feeling. I didn't wanted it to end goddamn it T_T
Without her the empire will crumble? what are you talking about, the empire will remain the same, she doesn't have to do this, it's not like everyone will die if she doesn't become empress With the white frost it made sense, l said OK, because indeed everyone was gonna die if she didn't tried to stop it, even is she risked her life But being an empress, she shouldn't feel forced to do that, she doesn't have to, l bet you that emhyr doesn't give a crap, he will continue ruling and l it's not like hes a freaking radovid, l think he is an "acceptable ruler" (in terms of morale, because in terms of politics hes excellent) so nothing to worry about She want's to be happy, so l won't let her ruin her life over some stupid reason, destiny? the best for the world? fuck the world man, like the white wolf would say, "If that's what it takes to save the world, then it's better to let that world end", although this isn't a case of live and death like the white frost, so she doesn't have to do nothing if she doesn't want to, and even if she became empress, l doubt she would change much to be honest, world is corrupted, people say the witcher ending is "naive", well i find it more naive to think that "yay, now that ciri is and empress she can do whatever she wants!, no more hunger, everyone will be rich and golden eggs will drop from the sky (ignoring the fact that she is unhappy, there could be rebellions or plots agains't her, or worse, shes could become a puppet because she can't do everything she wants even if she is empress so probablyher moves will be limited or controlled by some douches or emhyr, the best father of the year, a whole mess) she doesn't truly want to rule and that's it, she doesn't deserves that kind of shit
" From her father she'd inherited an empress' political instincts. From Geralt she had gained a sense of simple, human decency. " They're the same person tho
I wish you had the option to not keep her sword. "[Keep the sword.]" "No Ciri. Let it remind you of your time with me. As a Witcher, a friend, and... a daughter."
Doesn't even really make sense... I understand she wants him to have a souvenir from her but how about something easier to carry then a sword? :P I mean Geralt doesn't quite have a home where he can put it up on a wall, he'd need to carry it with him all the while and I can already imagine the jokes from people like "Oh this witcher over here's too tuff for even two swords, has to carry 3, HAH!" or questions like "What's the third one made of? o.o" xD For her it would be a much better thing to have to remind her of her youth AND she now has a place of her own where she can keep it. Some small maybe hand-crafted bauble would be just perfect. :}
Took the Super happy Ciri-is-a-witcher ending, but I prefer this one. It was like the ending of Toy Story 3. The necessity of responsibility and heartbreak, and then growing up
+tonious35 The Ciri as Witcher ending is just... really bloody hollow and unsatisfying honestly. Feels like the Ciri is dead and Ciri as Empress endings were done first, and the Ciri as a Witcher ending got the rush to completion shaft... Witcher ending is by far the worst. At least the death ending has you killing Weavess and recovering Vesemir's medallion... They really dropped the ball with everything post Kaer Moren. It was because everything before then was so great too, that the unexpected decline, and mediocre endings, were so much more painful. Here's hoping the Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition fixes this mess.
+tonious35 You have to check up the lore . The emperor is a jackass, he doesn't give a damn about Ciri. He tried to have a son with her in the past, he only cares about heritage and his name on the throne. And here he tricked Ciri for the same reason. Also you can hear a happy song by the end of "witcher ending".
@@alexa.davronov1537 i think you need play snowball with ciri, let ciri destroy thing, engourage ciri but not go with her when phillipa talk to ciri, grieve with ciri when in skelige, and NOT bring her to emperor if you choose to help roach
AiErudito __-_-__ somehow I cant too..You know man what I cant understand. She hold his hand and all that,i did snowball fight I did everything good and she still decide to go to this shithead emyer. I just pass the game and almost literally cry river. I think developers fucked up a little because at this point of the game her reaction make me be sure she wont accept emyr, but the end prove different and im so shocked! its like a bite! "Geralt he offered me money lets get out of here". Of course I will think that she never accept this dickhead emyr. I just wanted to do good thing and she go see her father last time and now im regretted. Someone is saying that empress ending is best one, but I see her as a witcher hiding and hunting and be happy with geralt yen and others. I think I will reload save from "The Battle of Kear Morhen"... I again edit comment to post this too. Ending when she became empress while walking on snow and falking I feel something is not right.. and I feel it right.. what a game this is! Still sad about my ending though so sad.. even if thats not bad ending but it breaks my heart that I will reload it again from battle of kaer morhen..
Lisa Maylea Hi! She will become witcher if u go to Emhyr but if you let Radovid live I think, then Emhyr is dead, and killed by Radovid. Something like that. I did research after my ending but I couldn't remember if its like that. Or kill Roach ,Thaller and Ves in quest reason of state" which is fucked up because they are your friends and I never do that! When I heard Djisktra was telling that he wanted to killed them i fucking kill his ass. Bad move by Djikstra. So yeah if im wrong then let me know.
Beautiful ending...I had heard about the witcher ending, it was the one I intended. But I let Ciri grow, I trusted her and she grew up right infront of me. It hurt when she made the the decision to leave.. After some time I realized that this was the most fitting ending for the witcher world.
+Johnnie Magpie Yeah, I will always prefer the good ending simply because I wish them both to be happy, but this one fits the narrative much better. And leaves a much bigger impact.
I got this ending the first time I played. The second time I got the Ciri witcher ending. I actually heard that Ciri witcher is considered the best ending, but this one is my favorite. It may not be as happy for the main characters, but it seems a lot better for the world as a whole.
Drew Boivie It is the difference between forcibly sacrificing the individual for the well-being of all (Eastern philosophy) versus protecting the freedom of the individual above all else (Western philosophy). Witchers, like pirates, are free people. It makes very little sense to have people end up caged like in this ending.
Drew Boivie fuck the world. Ciri as empress or not the world keeps on going. Ciri is happier as a Witcher. Only thing I disliked about the Witcher ending that I thought was better here was that you can see and talk to everyone at white orchard. Also the moment with ciri in this ending was better. However ciri is happier as a Witcher
@@_JM- She is obviously happier to become a witcher, at least for then, for the future we don't know... BUT the key thing here is that she made that choice on her own in the end, no one was able to physically force her to make that choice. The goodbyes were very hard of course and it made everyone sad but... that doesn't mean the future has to be void of happiness. :)
I doubt it is the canon ending. CD Projekt has already shot down more Witcher games where you play as Geralt, multiple times. That leaves Ciri as the protagonist of Witcher 4 as the most likely scenario imo, which would mean that the Ciri becomes a Witcher ending is canon.
Having now seen both, I'm not sure which ending I like more: This one or Ciri as a Witcheress. This one is a definitive ending for the saga, the other leaves it open to follow the adventures of Ciri. They're both good but I don't know which one I like more.
***** I definitely like Ciri becoming a Witcher more (although I haven't seen it), but what I don't know is, what's better, ending up with Triss or Yen.
For me it's definitely ending up with Yen. She and Geralt she textbook star crossed lovers. Though the ending you get if you try for a threesome with the two of them is hilarious.
I thought the same, Yen and Geralt are the perfect couple, but I like Triss more. I first finished the game with Triss and Ciri Empress, but fortunately, I had a backup file right before the Djinn, now I'm working on it to get the prefect ending, Geralt and Yen, and their "daughter", a witcher.
+Martintheauthor I share the exact same feelings as you my friend; I will always treasure the Witcheress ending the most, but I realize that this ending fits in to the narrative much better. Geralt realizes that Ciri's finally grown up; she doesn't need him anymore. As much as he loves her, he needs to let her go. The same phase every parent has to go through. Trully 'bittersweet'.
me too! This ending left me completely wrecked. Watching Geralt and Ciri part like that after everything it was so bittersweet and absolutely destroyed me. I could not handle it; nor was I prepared to. The Witcher 3 is without a doubt one of the best games of all time.
SAME. I was so certain I'd spend my end days with Ciri. Made every decision canon Geralt from books would have. But when she leaves... Lets just say. True masterpiece.
Difficult to say, but this ending is more fitting for Ciri as she's now free to do anything she wants without fear of the Wild Hunt and White Frost, but puts aside her own self-interests so she can rule and change the Nilfgaardian Empire for the better. She does so for everyone she holds close to her.
+ManOfVita the witcher ending seems also very fitting for me, it says Geralt and Ciri travel together for some time but eventually part ways, and soon the north started to hear tales about the ashen haired witcheress. while geralt on the other hand, retires with either Yennefer, Triss, or alone.
Rasuke11 The games are in their own universe now, in case you didn’t notice, also get the hell out of the game community if you feel superior to the gamers who never read the books, keep to your books like that old salty hack Andrej-whatever-the-fuck-his-name-was if you despise the games so much. We don’t need or want you here.
Rectus Rectumius they are still based on the books. The characters characteristics didn't appear out of thin air. Meaning that the game expands on the books. And in the books, aka her backstory, Ciri shows otherwise than what people here think is best for her. Ofc they can add things (and they have, mind you). But CDPR has never changed the core of a character. And Ciri becoming queen is not suiting if you aim to role play this game through a logical pov to best suit the characters interests. But if u aim to play based on your own opinion, then Ciri becoming empress is obviously the best outcome for all.
i dunno if its just me but the part were ciri asks geralt if he will take her to the blue mountains by force....the way she said it and the tone....it feels like she WANTED him to do that. ive seen a lot sense this game came out (dont own it myself) and from everything ive seen i feel that ciri would be happiest as a witcheress. she does not seem the type to want to be stuck inside a keep all day dealing with political bullshit
+TheKillaShow I agree and disagree. Yes, she can change the world for better, but... idk man, hasn't she already done enough? She always spoke about how she wanted to be free... and, well, after everything she's been through, she kinda deserves it. In my opinion.
She fucking stopped the WHITE FROST (and helped defeat the Wild Hunt), and she's Geralt's fucking daughter. This means that he'll always have her best interest in mind (and damn politics as far as he cares). I don't care if it's not by blood, he is Ciri's father by everything but blood. Ciri wants freedom, she admires Witchers and most of all her FATHER Geralt (Not Emhyr). The world will continue, Emhyr will rule, but at least there won't be a full scale war destroying everything in its path (with one mad man as the ruler). Sure, there still will be prejudice in the world, might be insurgencies, and Ciri would make a great ruler, but dammit she's done enough, I say let her be happy. Besides, there are no 100% right answers in The Witcher (which is something I love from this game), so it's up for debate. I chose to let her become the ashen-haired Witcheress.
@@TheKillaShow True ciri won't take such decisions,as mentioned in books and also with the actions in the game.It contradicts her personality.Ciri HATES politics, and she mentions that her greatest desire is geralt, and I don't think she would leave for any reason. Its hypothetical
alexis avalos I said the same thing... that’s the ending where ciri is happiest and instead of celebrating with everyone, geralt gets her a sword and you can’t see her or anybody else anymore? I would of liked another cutscene with yennefer in that ending at least. They were in love and the last scene I got with them was right before geralt’s last scene with avallache and ciri? Kind of stupid to be honest
I love Morvhan and don’t get why Geralt hates his ass so much. But I swear if that MF came up and ruined their conversation with that accent I was about to freak
i personally think this is the perfect ending for the game it ties in with the settign that not everything has a happy ending, it is both sad for Geralt as well as it is good for the world of the witcher if ciri becomes the empress, i love this ending with its dramatic vibe!
The only thing I don't like was killing Dijkstra... I mean.. even if he broke the deal with Roche, couldn't he think of something else like making Temeria a vasaal of Redania instead of Nilfgaard? I like him a lot but to leave Roche, Thaler, and Ves to die is not an option for me...
I like the idea of Ciri being the empress. She's kind, intelligent, and probably one of, if not the toughest monarchs in the Witcher history to assassinate.
This ending had me going for a good while that Ciri wasn't able to stop the White Frost and everyone was just biding their time, pretending nothing was wrong, until the world was covered by snow. Geralt was hunting rabbits instead of monsters, because food was more important than gold. The soldier's mixed armor/past meant the borders were falling apart. Ciri was struggling with apathy/depression, because she knew everyone would be dead within a couple more years, and so on. After all that false pretense, discovering everything was fine and that Ciri would be leaving to become Empress hit me pretty hard. I love this game.
Say what you will I think at least for the “World” of the Witcher this ending is the best. Why? Ciri will rule the Empire which rules the continent. Knowing Ciri she’ll end the slave system, repeal or alter many of the worst imperial laws, organize mass infrastructure projects, aid groups, etc. Her rule would be a blessing to the people’s of the continent. She also likely to purge the worst elements of the Empire from her court and armies.
I like this ending the best. Ciri leaving the life of a witcher behind to become the heir to the Empire is bittersweet; it's obviously not something she wanted to do, but it's the most adult and responsible choice, because this is what she needed to do. Both the book and the game series really make us think who the real monsters are: random creatures that take a life or two in the wilderness and isolated villages, or scheming and power hungry madmen (or women) with armies at their backs and can decimate entire nations at their whims. At that point, the Northern Kingdoms are conquered but still restive; Emhry appears to be strong but also has plenty of domestic enemies plotting his downfall; the Sorceresses are still plotting to regain power. In such a world, another witcher can only help a few people some of the time; an enlightened Empress, on the hand, can do a great deal of good for the greatest number of people.
+Charles W I agree man. I mean, I will always prefer the good ending where she becomes witcheress, but this one definately fits in much better into the narrative. At the end of the day, no matter how much you'd like some things to happen(like Geralt and Ciri being happy together), life doesn't always go the way you want it. And that was always one of the messages in the Witcher universe. Geralt also realized this; that his little girl has grown up and finally doesn't need him anymore. A sad feeling, but one every parent must go through. This is trully 'bittersweet'. Fantastic game.
I agree with you, this is a bittersweet ending and the most "realistic" one I think. this series has a dark and gritty vibe so getting a perfect happy ending for everyone doesn't seem to fit in
As a witcher dealing with monsters, you often get pulled/tricked into dealing with monsters of the human sort. From this position there is only so much you can do, and often have to accept that many horrors are beyond your helping; the result of bad leadership and organization. If you had the chance to fix those two things, or at least to greatly improve them, and passed it up, how could you live with yourself seeing the results of your neglect all the time in a witcher's life? I think Ciri would actually end up very sad as a witcher. As Empress she can learn how to run a stable empire having learned from Emhyr, yet do it with greater balance having learned how how to mediate between parties well from Geralt. With many of the clashes of kingdoms now in the past, the burden of possible treachery will be less for her than it was for Emhyr, and there will be less monsters in the world with the way things have concluded. There is still challenge from the sorceresses, but she has strong personal ties to properly mediate that as well, not to mention elder blood. Moreover, since she is so well educated in monsters and magic of and also understands the way ignorance leads to dealing with them both in the wrong way, she can properly educate the military of Nilfgaard to be able to handle more without witchers help, yet can also use her power to instruct her military to respect them and also protect witchers from paranoid mobs so that they can thrive and do their work in the land when it comes to tasks her people cant handle.
In my first playthrough, I'd already known that Ciri either ends up dead, a Witcher or as the Empress. I thought about it long and hard even before the game brought it up. My thoughts are this: Ciri, as the Empress, seems to be the logical conclusion to the series. She would've had a positive impact on Nilfgaard as a Monarch, and it also goes to show that she picks the choice on her own. But is that really good for her? Is that really good for the Ciri that we get to know throughout the game? Ciri always came across as a free spirit. Someone who loves to travel and explore, meet new people. Seeing her on the throne, bound by her duties as a Monarch would feel as though Ciri has been shackled. Something that Ciri iterates time and again is how she wants lead a 'normal' life; Away from being a princess, away from people who are after her because of her abilities. I can always imagine the adventures that Ciri would have if she chose the path of a Witcher, the people whose lives she would change and ultimately we, as Geralt, can hope that she'd be happy. There is one thing that I disagree with what Ciri said in this particular ending. The fact that she, as the Empress, would have a greater impact on the world. While that can be said to be the case, she is forgetting literal antithesis to that notion. Geralt himself. Over the course of the games that we've played as Geralt (Witcher 1,2 & 3) we can see just how great an impact that he, as a Witcher, has had on the world. It can even be said that he has had more of an influence on the state of the world than a Monarch has had. It isn't as obvious, due to the fact that he's 'just' a Witcher and not some King whose actions are easier to pin down, but nonetheless they have a ripple effect on grave matter. Also, let's not forget the power of small acts of kindness that Geralt performs (provided you didn't role-play as a pseudo bandit-witcher), even if it was just completing a contract for a particularly troublesome monster in some obscure 'little' village. Those actions have their own power. I don't think that either ending is 'better' than the other. Though I have to give CDPR props for creating a narrative which ends up being good according to each individual. What I mean by that is that it is up to us, as the player, to think up what is best for Ciri. Almost as though she actually IS our daughter. And that is what sets this game's ending apart from most others. You may think that Ciri should grow up and assume the responsibilities as an Empress, or you may think that Ciri should be a free spirit and walk the path, the same as Geralt. Neither choice is worse than the other if viewed from a distance. Yet, we will have our preference for what appeals to us more; And that, I think, is what makes the ending worth the entire journey.
Everyone's talking about how this is the better ending because it's the responsible more grown up option and I'm over here like "OH HELL NO, IM A CHILDISH, SELFISH MOTHER FUCKER. SHE'S GONNA BE JUST LIKE HER OLD MAN AND BE A WITCHER. SHE GONNA GO ON ADVENTURES, KILL MONSTERS, FIND HERSELF A WONDERFUL GIRLFRIEND, AND COME VISIT YEN AN ME FOR THE HOLIDAYS SO I CAN EMBARRASS HER IN FRONT OF HER GIRLFRIEND BY TALKING ABOUT MOMENTS FROM HER CHILDHOOD AND I CAN ALSO MAKE STUPID DAD JOKES WITH YEN GIVING ME A LOOK LIKE "WHY DO I PUT UP WITH YOU". WE CAN ALL BE ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY. FUCK THE EMPIRE!!!!!!!"
20:12 I so wish there was a choice to hand her back her sword. It's a part of her, she could have kept it as a memento (or for defending herself or even just sneaking out of the palace for some witchering with Geralt)
So sad to watch her cry, it hurts.... l still think the witcher's ending is the best one, and l think that it makes more sense, because knowing the geralt of rivia from the books, he would't give a shit about emhyr and he probably wouldn't take her to see him, and what she truly wants is to be free, it seems to be that being a witcher makes her truly happy, you can tell that she doesn't enjoy at all being an empress, you can even tell it by playing blood and wine (the ending with her being empress, where she says that she want's to give it up , probably because kind of makes her unhappy) So l still think that if the developers ever decide to go for a "cannon" ending it would be the one where she's a witcher, l think that's what was supposed to be the "good ending" and this like a "neutral ending"
I would describe that as the "selfish ending". Being a witcher might make her happier over the short term, but she'd be ignoring her true potential and her ability to bring about some real change in the world as the ruler of one of its greatest empires. Although bittersweet, this is probably the best and most "mature" ending. Besides, empress versus wandering monster slayer killing drowners and nekkers for a handful of coins... hmm.
The "Nilfgaard Empress" is not cannon for all we know, because according to the saga lore (one of the short entries before one of the chapters from "Time of contempt") combined with info from the game , Morvran Voorhis became Emperor of Nilfgaard at some point after Emhyr. He's about in his forties in the game, and wouldn't live long enough to become Emperor after Ciri. There are only two possibilities- this ending is not canon, or Ciri died/abdicated shortly afterwards, allowing Voorhis to ascend to the throne.
Actually book Geralt would strongly consider fulfilling his contract. He wouldn't get involved into Radovid's assassination though so Emhyr would likely lose the war and get killed.
The correct ending, but it DOES benefit Geralt, with her as Empress, he'd have full jurisdiction and semi reign over the Empire lol! Of course she would listen to him, and treat him with extreme benefits along with Triss and Yen and the other allies that aided in the fight against the Wild Hunt. But, this is the right ending, and you could tell, because even if you do EVERYTHING right (best choices meaning all choices that make her happy), this ending can ONLY be triggered if you take Ciri to meet the Emperor (her father). Otherwise... if you make the right choices, you'd get the Witcher ending, best ending it is deemed to be, but overall doesn't feel right, and it wasn't intended, because Geralt WOULD take Ciri to meet the Emperor in reality. So, this ending is the truest outcome, and I am glad I got it, gives me good thought knowing I'll have basically my daughter on the throne, I'd fucking MOVE to Nilfgaard.
Fuck me silly, did this game throw a bunch of emotion trains at me. Cried at two instances: this one, and when the battle of Kaer Morhen. The whole chapter, actually, from Ciri getting back at Kaer Morhen, to the end of the battle, was like a train of emotions is running through me. Also, when Geralt found Ciri at the Isle of Mists, that was heavy as shit. Fuckin 10/10, this game. On to the expansions now, I guess. Heard the story is awesome there, too.
Even if this is considered to be a "bad" or rather "sad" ending, I have to admit this is the ending that made the most impact on me, thus my favorite of them all. The other one was happy, the other one was tragic. This was just right. Sweet, but bitter too.
Nice touch that she gives Geralt her sword instead of receiving one in this ending. To be honest I like this ending better than the one I got, Ciri going on the Path.
The one thing i dont get about this ending is ciri is the lady of space and time and could instantly warp to geralt whenever she wanted. why wouldnt they never see each other again. she could hang out at his house every night if she wanted and warped back to the court every morning.
I got this ending for my first playthrough it actually caught me of guard when she said that she'd bexome empress and cant stay with geralt that was sad very sad
this ending is also very sad.Ciri didnt want to Geralt know that she has to go till the last second is sooo sad...they enjoyed their time like the past when Ciri was a kid..Geralt is a lonely man...Ciri is all he has but have to let her go...its so hard to seek some1 for years and then have to say goodbye forever
Of cause witcher ending is best for Ciri and should be considered as canon but the way cdproject executed this scene was beautiful, I'd even argue the script is even better then the witcher one. Simply amazing.
Best ending Ciri as empress and yen and geralt together in touissant ciri visits them anyway , if you dont get the triss or yen romance empress ciri visits you in blood and wine
@twinzzlers that was my choice in the first playthrough when the game released , in my second playthough on the ps5 version I thought about it , if the continent is united with a Nilfgard victory and ciri at the helm as empress what follows is and era of peace and prosperity ushering in a new golden age , she is a much better choice as ruler than Emhyr, people lives will improve , nilfgard will no longer be imperialistic, Geralt and yen move to toussaint for a quiet life together with ciri visiting every now and again , plus I really like the epilogue with her as empress more it fits this universe's dark tone, this what I love about this game all the choices you can make
@@welsh-cymru1588 Ciri simply being empress won't change what Nilfgaard is, it might take a bit but eventually it'll be just as bad as Emyhr, you're making Ciri miserable, ultimately for no reason.
If you get this ending, does White Orchard remain in winter when you return there? I got the Ciri as witcher ending, but damn White Orchard sure looks cool with snow.
I just finished the game, got this ending, romanced with Triss, and when the credits started rolling, I started to cry out of nowhere. This game is a fucking masterpiece
Oh, and for everyone who says she's meant for more than being a witcher... Excuse me? More than a witcher? I believe Geralt was deciding the fate of nations even before the game started. And besides, having a good heart and super-powers doesn't necessarily guarantee that you'll excel at statesmanship.
Finally, someone with actual common sense.Plus these people are having "their own point of view" for ciris decision rather than " ciris point of view" in which she completely hates politics ,plus considering the facts that it's her dream and greatest desire is to be with geralt and yennefer, rejection of the empress offer under better circumstance than this ending with the recommendation of yennefer and geralt.
People saying this is the good ending because she is supposed to be the empress but you forget she never like Emhyr, never liked Nilfgaard and never showed one quality of desire to lead. She ALWAYS wanted to be a witcher. And sure she does a good job as empress because she is a good person. If she becomes a witcher she EXCELS far and beyond and LOVES her life.
This is the ending I landed on, to me it makes the most sense. Ciri as empress would probably make things better. It's not what she or Geralt would have wanted but heroes gotta do shit you don't wanna do sometimes.
Completely agree with you...If we consider Whicher ending it's not happy ending if you think about it. ofcourse for few years of training with Geralt excluded. Then she goes for monster hunting only by herself and became the femous ashen hair Whicher with scar on her face. But emperor is not fool he will instantly recognize her or enquire about her. And obviously he will try to bring her back. In my opinion at this point she will consider to become empress. because it's fun being Whicher but it's child's dream, after wondering alone all over the continent she realize that she could do much better at power. This is one arc as of realization, self discovery and responsibility. If she refuse then real problem will begin, emperor will get really pissed at Geralt, because he told lie straight to his face about Ciris death. Now he can't harm Ciri of course because of she's hair To The Throne. Meanwhile he definitely send Army to kill Geralt. Now his and yen/triss life will constantly be on run for rest. In this condition she will have to choose to fight the most powerful emperor (could be possible plot for Whicher 4. And at the end after defeating her father she stil had to become queen due to lack of rightfull candidate to avoid chaos) or make some deal with her father in exchange for Geralt's life. So either way sooner or later she ended up becoming empress.(Sry for english)
Still prefer the book ending for Ciri which....... (Spoilers) Ciri traveled to a world where Camelot and King Arthur's knights existed as well as having a romantic relationship with Galahad and being part of Arthur's court.
You know what could've been done to make this ending a little more emotional? Maybe they could've shown Geralt crying for the first time since he states after Battle Of Kaer Morhen that he does not know how to cry. In my opinion, just this small little detail could've shown just how upsetting Ciri's departure is.
I got the Ciri Witcheress ending and Nilfgaard still won the war. The only thing I did different to get witcheress ending was I never took Ciri to her father. As long as you cheer her up with the snowball fight, let her vent her anger when she feels betrayed by a friend, instill courage in her when she is going to talk to the Sorceresses but don't act in her stead, grieve with her when she asks you to find Skjall and bury him. The only thing that will change her from being Witcheress to Empress is whether or not you take her to her bio-father Emhyr. But I definitely by far prefer the Witcheress ending.
This ending fits the story the most, Ciri ending as a Witcher is def the happiest one, but Ciri as an empress is like, damn, the whole world would be better with her as a ruler, I understand that, Geralt understands that, I got this ending on my first play and it pained me for a while, then B&W came and she visited (tho she is an empress), then I thought "why the fuck would I be sad for? Now Ciri knows where Geralt lives and she can come to visit any time" lol.
@@alexa.davronov1537 - Your opinion. Who's to say she doesn't get killed on her first official witcher contract? Geralt, for all his training, instincts and skills, was killed by some random dude with a pitchfork. It happens. Who can say she doesn't grow to love ruling over Nilfgard and bringing an age of peace and prosperity in her lands; something she wouldn't be able to do as a witcher? There is no set "best" or "worst" ending if we're to really get into it. Its simply just us projecting our hopes and desires onto the story.
I'm just noticing at the start she's wearing a Wolf medallion on her hip. Where'd she get that? The one she took from Vesemir was stolen by the Weavess...
I had the Witcher Ending both times because after all what happened I though Ciri could be happy just being free and doing whatever she felt like doing and although that this might be the intended ending...it‘s fucking heartbreaking. Never felt the need to bring her to Emhyr, even if I felt a little cruel for that.
If Ciri become a witcher means she still Geralt child. But to be an Empress means she grown up far from only a witcher. This bittersweet ending made Witcher saga ........Epic!
+mink N Well, not really no; I mean, yeah she stays with Geralt but eventually they part ways; she'll definately visit him from time to time but she is definately on her own path, not tide to Geralt anymore. At least that's how I see it.
Bullshit. Geralt takes her to her father forcefully and she don't get actual freedom but rather secures someone's will and wishes. She will serve, not be free.
Only miss the sun when it start to snow, Only you know you love her to let her go...😢 I chasing the witcher ending and endup with this ending and it was beautiful. I just glad she was alive.🙂
* crying * What a terrible ending! How can it even be so depressing? Couldn't have she at least kept the f*ing sword? ... I'm so glad I did't take her to Emyhr. omfg, this... - Doesn't look like she will be very happy in her life...
This is so fucking sad you can see how Geralt has a hard time accepting her decision to be an empress and says "Remember what I've taught you" "You're a witcher" just so he can cope with this heartbreaking decision. But just after calling her a witcher she gives him her sword which is like the "no I'm not a witcher" answer which absolutely wrecks Geralt then and there.
This is NOT the BEST ending! Ciri wants to be free and the way of the Witcher is where she will be truly free, happy and content! :D However, this may be the 2nd best ending where Ciri survives so, its alright!
This is my first ending of the game. Later on, I replay it over and over again and get many other outcomes, including the happy one where Ciri became a witcheress, but not once this ending ever again. To me, I prefer seeing her to be the witcheress but this one, I love and adore how it allowed me to spend some of the last few minutes with Ciri my companion. Almost cried when I see her again in Toussaint.
I got the Witcher ending on both my playthrough, but I think this is really the best. No matter what you do, Geralt and Ciri have to part at some point, even if she becomes a Witcher like she's always wanted. Geralt can't be with her al the time, he is old and he seems to have grown tired of his job, he did mention several times that he wished to retire . Also, world has changed, Witchers aren't needed anymore, there are soldiers now, monsters can be found in the wilderness, but they rarely approach towns anymore. (okay, in the games we have more monsters, otherwise it would be boring without them, but in the books, it's very hard for Geralt to find a decent job anymore). So, yeah I believe Ciri becoming Empress and using her talent to shape the world in a better place is indeed the best ending for anyone. Beside, I'm sure they could still see each other whenever they wanted ... after all, Ciri can teleport herself anywhere she wants in a few seconds.
Dandelion speaks about reclaiming his lands. They were given to him by Anna Henrietta, countess of Toussaint. Possibly why we go there in Blood and Wine.
"Traveled half the world to find you but I never intended to force anything on you", damn..

+Southern Fried Media (SFG) Best damn way to describe this ending.
+Razvan Musat real heart wrencher
Southern Fried Media I genuinely cried tears at this ending. The worst part is the fact that it fits in much better into the narrative than the other two endings, and that's what makes it trully bittersweet.
Razvan Musat
what really got me was my first run, i got the bad ending, I thought I was doing the right things by being a good parent to her.
These are possibly my two favourite games of all time. I'm glad that you found a way to work them both into one sentence.
Elliot Cameron Yeah, they're both amazing 10/10 masterpieces.
I agree haha. I got so connected to the characters!
The Moofs yeah both Witcher 3 and TLOU have the best characters in gaming period.

Nerfed Gamer guardians of the galaxy
Ciri-

Considering Geralt fucked 80% of the female population imagining him saying this to Ciri makes me uncomfortable
This ending killed my heart. And not being able to see Ciri again post game is even more depressing.
admin8073 In my ending Ciri became a witcher always on the move. There are soo many endings it's crazy how much time they put into this game.
Without her the empire will crumble? what are you talking about, the empire will remain the same, she doesn't have to do this, it's not like everyone will die if she doesn't become empress
With the white frost it made sense, l said OK, because indeed everyone was gonna die if she didn't tried to stop it, even is she risked her life
But being an empress, she shouldn't feel forced to do that, she doesn't have to, l bet you that emhyr doesn't give a crap, he will continue ruling and l it's not like hes a freaking radovid, l think he is an "acceptable ruler" (in terms of morale, because in terms of politics hes excellent) so nothing to worry about
She want's to be happy, so l won't let her ruin her life over some stupid reason, destiny? the best for the world? fuck the world man, like the white wolf would say, "If that's what it takes to save the world, then it's better to let that world end", although this isn't a case of live and death like the white frost, so she doesn't have to do nothing if she doesn't want to, and even if she became empress, l doubt she would change much to be honest, world is corrupted, people say the witcher ending is "naive", well i find it more naive to think that "yay, now that ciri is and empress she can do whatever she wants!, no more hunger, everyone will be rich and golden eggs will drop from the sky (ignoring the fact that she is unhappy, there could be rebellions or plots agains't her, or worse, shes could become a puppet because she can't do everything she wants even if she is empress so probablyher moves will be limited or controlled by some douches or emhyr, the best father of the year, a whole mess) she doesn't truly want to rule and that's it, she doesn't deserves that kind of shit
" From her father she'd inherited an empress' political instincts. From Geralt she had gained a sense of simple, human decency. "
They're the same person tho
Geralt is her daddy.
Denying reality does not make it so.
She also inherited her father's child as this ending results in Emhyr impregnating her just to continue his bloodline
@@glukoto8116 he gave up on doing that in the books,he was disgusted with himself because of it
@@azerohiro - Impossible. Geralt has as much political instinct as a wild goat.
I wish you had the option to not keep her sword.
"[Keep the sword.]"
"No Ciri. Let it remind you of your time with me. As a Witcher, a friend, and... a daughter."
That would have felt nice, but this ending isn't about feeling nice... This ending is about making you cry :)
Doesn't even really make sense... I understand she wants him to have a souvenir from her but how about something easier to carry then a sword? :P I mean Geralt doesn't quite have a home where he can put it up on a wall, he'd need to carry it with him all the while and I can already imagine the jokes from people like "Oh this witcher over here's too tuff for even two swords, has to carry 3, HAH!" or questions like "What's the third one made of? o.o" xD For her it would be a much better thing to have to remind her of her youth AND she now has a place of her own where she can keep it. Some small maybe hand-crafted bauble would be just perfect. :}
And we still can't even use it after she gives it to us
@@Ivanus59 he has a house man

This ending is much more profound than the witcher ending. Proof that Geralt gives her the father's love that's unconditional.
+tonious35 Yes, this is the most responsible outcome.
+spaPolaris well, He is voiced by charles dance afterall XD

Yeah. I feel depressed that I haven't got the same scene in another ending (where she goes on Path of Witcher). That makes me sad.

+Johnnie Magpie Yeah, I will always prefer the good ending simply because I wish them both to be happy, but this one fits the narrative much better. And leaves a much bigger impact.
yep it's a bittersweet ending just like you imagine a story like this will end. narratives like this don't have a perfect happy ending for everyone
i got the witcher ending 2x but i wanted this one but nvm what u think ehich rdning is best

It makes very little sense to have people end up caged like in this ending.
umm ciri seemed fine with it in blood and wine so your opinion dont stand as fact
Dang, this seems like it was obviously meant as the Canon ending. Ciri as a Witcher is a lot shorter.
This is an ending the Witcher one it's not.
@@hilnnerfarias913 Yup the Witcher one....is just the beginning.
Hilnner Farias all endings have something beautifull but the most closed one is the one where ciri dies.
I still like that ending more tho
I doubt it is the canon ending. CD Projekt has already shot down more Witcher games where you play as Geralt, multiple times. That leaves Ciri as the protagonist of Witcher 4 as the most likely scenario imo, which would mean that the Ciri becomes a Witcher ending is canon.
Ah, the emotional burden of letting go of your daugthers, especially your only daughter, for the father. Damn it, reminded me why I hate emotions
Edit: It's times like these why I hate having emotions at all
Kamarul Ikram You’d probably be happy as a Witcher. Wait...
Martintheauthor The Witcher one seems better in my eyes. Seems like she is free.
I fucking cried like a bitch.
same, and this wasnt even my ending
me too! This ending left me completely wrecked. Watching Geralt and Ciri part like that after everything it was so bittersweet and absolutely destroyed me. I could not handle it; nor was I prepared to. The Witcher 3 is without a doubt one of the best games of all time.
np dood, real men cry
SAME. I was so certain I'd spend my end days with Ciri. Made every decision canon Geralt from books would have. But when she leaves... Lets just say. True masterpiece.
I love the subtle anguish they captured in Geralt's expressions when he saw the Nilfgaardian honor guard.
“They breakfasted well after noon”
So Geralt became an intermittent fasting acolyte it seems
at 20:44 here you have a rare sighting of a heart broken witcher which in nature is emotionless
Ye so in the end they still part ways only that Ciri doesn't get the chance to change the world for the better.
This one fits better she wanted to do good for everyone, she could never do it by hunting monsters on abandoned villages.
+Darian shes too powerful and has too much potential to hunt down monsters for eternity. She can change the world for the better.
Why is everyone suddenly gendering the term witcher to witcheress? How pointless.
@@TheKillaShow True ciri won't take such decisions,as mentioned in books and also with the actions in the game.It contradicts her personality.Ciri HATES politics, and she mentions that her greatest desire is geralt, and I don't think she would leave for any reason. Its hypothetical
Why couldn't I get this closure ending with dandelion and the gang there and then meet with ciri as she becomes a witcher?
That would have well and truly been the best ending.
u get this ending by helping to kill radovid i think
Nemo Yes you have to kill Radovid in Reasons of State to get the Empress ending otherwise Nifigaard will fail and Radovid wins the North.
alexis avalos I said the same thing... that’s the ending where ciri is happiest and instead of celebrating with everyone, geralt gets her a sword and you can’t see her or anybody else anymore? I would of liked another cutscene with yennefer in that ending at least. They were in love and the last scene I got with them was right before geralt’s last scene with avallache and ciri? Kind of stupid to be honest
You have to hide from ciri that emhyr wants to see her and not bring her to him (at blood on the battlefield quest) . Also niflgaard must win the war

i personally think this is the perfect ending for the game it ties in with the settign that not everything has a happy ending, it is both sad for Geralt as well as it is good for the world of the witcher if ciri becomes the empress, i love this ending with its dramatic vibe!
This is probably the best ending since it balances the happy with the sad.
I liked Dijkstra, up until the point where he decides to kill Roche and Ves.
Xiyu Yang i like his sarcastic, ruthless, realistic nature but i can't let roche, thaler and ves die
Yumtoy L ,
I loved Djiskra too. But lets face it. He is mediocre, chinese copy of Emhyr. The emperor is his better in virtually every regard.
I don't care what he wants but killing my friends from Witcher 2 is big mistake for Baldy.
I like the idea of Ciri being the empress. She's kind, intelligent, and probably one of, if not the toughest monarchs in the Witcher history to assassinate.
Caaros, The King of Chaos The Nilfgaardian state will consume her.
Yes, I'm awesome.
I love Geralt and Ciri's relationship. The way they show it here makes it seem so real and fleshed out. Beautiful writing
She also likely to purge the worst elements of the Empire from her court and armies.
witcher 3 was "simply" a masterpeace
Yeah a masterpiece all its own. Waiting for the next game.
@@iuscr3god only flaw was a handful of glitches
15:45 That moment... ;_;
This is a "right" ending, I think. But good ending is where she becomes a Witcher and that makes her happy! I would always choose good ending!
Well, in my ending Geralt stayed poor and continued fighting beasts.
Wow, Ive never seen it that way.
Thank you
Everyone's talking about how this is the better ending because it's the responsible more grown up option and I'm over here like
"OH HELL NO, IM A CHILDISH, SELFISH MOTHER FUCKER.
Girlfriend? Please. If only Skjall were still alive.
well she says she prefers women in the sauna
DutchRebel1942 Welp Skjall is dead
And in my play through Ciri prefers women
Skjall was definitely not her type
+Awkward Little Lesbian No.
I just like yen better than truss just because of her personality and charm
This is the best ending. Ciri becomes empress and Gerald and Yen live a calm peaceful life.
Gotta love that Morvran Voorhis passing by :D
When I first played, I got this ending. And it made me feel like my baby was being taken away from me
🥺🥺🥺
That emoji i hate it >:(
I'm so glad I got the witcher's ending without even trying, this ending would totally destroy my heart
I got the ending where ciri dies...I feel like I played the entire game wrong :(
+milkioe thanks dude
+calvin voss how is this even possible ^^;(
there is no way to play the game wrong. each ending in my eyes is amazing!
I got ciri becoming a witcher but I wish she became the emporer
You should never have children irl you will fail so hard as a parent.
There is always NG+.
20:12 I so wish there was a choice to hand her back her sword. It's a part of her, she could have kept it as a memento (or for defending herself or even just sneaking out of the palace for some witchering with Geralt)
"He is Geralt, Witcher, he won't cry, so I cry for him."
Sad but neccessary. This ending should be the netflix's series ending.
"I want to... but I can't cry... Don't know how." -Geralt
So sad to watch her cry, it hurts....
l still think the witcher's ending is the best one, and l think that it makes more sense, because knowing the geralt of rivia from the books, he would't give a shit about emhyr and he probably wouldn't take her to see him, and what she truly wants is to be free, it seems to be that being a witcher makes her truly happy, you can tell that she doesn't enjoy at all being an empress, you can even tell it by playing blood and wine (the ending with her being empress, where she says that she want's to give it up , probably because kind of makes her unhappy)
So l still think that if the developers ever decide to go for a "cannon" ending it would be the one where she's a witcher, l think that's what was supposed to be the "good ending" and this like a "neutral ending"
I think it hurts about as much seeing Geralt wanting to cry but not being able to.
+
A sweet moment last only a minutes but bitter is forever. Never allowed my daughter to be a toy in someone's hands. Never.
If you love something let it go...
I got the exact same combination of endings. Everything felt right, very fitting to the Witcher world, yet hopeful towards the future.
anybody went to vizima after this ending
? to check if ciri is there
i’m sorry but its hard to let go
no, she isn't there. Seems like anyone associated with main story vanishes as soon as you complete it.
+AdmiralMyxtaR I know man
its unfortunate
this ending is also very sad.Ciri didnt want to Geralt know that she has to go till the last second is sooo sad...they enjoyed their time like the past when Ciri was a kid..Geralt is a lonely man...Ciri is all he has but have to let her go...its so hard to seek some1 for years and then have to say goodbye forever
I prefer Ciri being a witcher
Seems CD Projekt spent the most time on this ending which must mean it is the ending they really meant for. But I couldn't make my self do it.
Most people consider this the true ending, since she willingly embraces her role as Empress, and all of that.
If she becomes a witcher she EXCELS far and beyond and LOVES her life.
this version with dead radovid ciri as empress and romancing yen is literally the perfect ending
Yennefer is terrible though. Triss is the better ending.
@@Adanu191 No Yennefer is the perfect girlfriend material as Triss is a highschool sweetheart.I love them both ofc but yen fits geralt
@@Adanu191 triss is a fucking creep
Being alone is cool 😎😭
17:56 don't mind me, just a regular nilfgaardian general passing by...
Damn, even she became empress it is so sad...this is the only game I've played that i had shed tears
Still prefer the book ending for Ciri which.......
(Spoilers)
Ciri traveled to a world where Camelot and King Arthur's knights existed as well as having a romantic relationship with Galahad and being part of Arthur's court.
You know what could've been done to make this ending a little more emotional? Maybe they could've shown Geralt crying for the first time since he states after Battle Of Kaer Morhen that he does not know how to cry. In my opinion, just this small little detail could've shown just how upsetting Ciri's departure is.
I still think Ciri becoming a Witcher is a better ending. She should be free to do as she pleases. Screw "destiny" and bloodlines.
But this is what she chooses when presented with all available choices so….
*Random Morvran Voorhis in the background*
Oopf, thif ifn't where I parked my horfe!
I prefer this ending.
I prefer the term bitter sweet.
+LionOfCasterlyRock It's the only ending that was finished or fleshed out... So by default it's the best.
I prefer to tell you that it's worst ending before hear death in tower.
This is my favorite ending of the main part game.
Something I noticed between this one and the Witcher ending. In the Witcher ending you give her a new sword. In the Empress ending she gives you hers.
This was my original ending. I was atually kinda content with it. along with the romance with Yen.
When I heard about this ending I thought it was like the "Okay ending", but when I got it I realised, it's one of the two happy endings.
im not gonna cry, im not gonna cry. im not...gonna cry, im not...go...gonna cry... not gonna..... WAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Only miss the sun when it start to snow,
Only you know you love her to let her go...😢
I chasing the witcher ending and endup with this ending and it was beautiful. I just glad she was alive.🙂
* crying * What a terrible ending! How can it even be so depressing? Couldn't have she at least kept the f*ing sword? ... I'm so glad I did't take her to Emyhr. omfg, this...
- Doesn't look like she will be very happy in her life...
Martin Verrisin ikr
@Aaron9 There is no canon ending.
I needed Cyberpunk's auxillary heart because this ending killed my original heart.
I hate how the flashbacks don't show the armor you were actually wearing.
You know how hard it would be for that to actually happen?
@@meci6625
Honestly quite doable.
Some cutscenes in the game are pre-rendered.
However, this may be the 2nd best ending where Ciri survives so, its alright!
I chose the ending where Ciri becomes a Witcher.
If Ciri wasn't my daughter i would definitely date her.
Donald Trump
In the Books, he kind of had that idea(her biological father, I mean).

This bittersweet ending, and then the respawn at Kaer Morhen. Talk about feeling empty.
Nope! This ending doesn't exist, only one ending ever exists for me.
The way this hurts but they compensate by giving few secs of Yennefer looking at Geralt like THAT
