This video was incredibly informative. I especially loved how you eloquently and calmly talk through your thought process while playing, as well as show some of the theoretical line's outcomes with picture-in-picture. Very well done!! Thank you!
I think this is a really interesting concept. I also like the longer time controls as I get to hear more of your thought processes, especially in looking for and eliminating candidate moves. Just like an annotated game with live action! Thank you so much.😁
I loved how you combined both systems! After having a lot of success with the Colle, I found that when using other queen pawn openings like the London or the Queen's Gambit, I would try to incorporate elements of the Colle because it's so stronf
Well done! Played this a few times…won all. Great mix between various openings/systems which allows flexibility. Can QG, Colle, C-Z, etc…kind of a mixture of systems so you can apply bits of each as needed while keeping an eye out for positional advantage in the middle game. Great stuff.
I absolutely Love it when you talk about candidate moves👍 you're my favorite TH-cam channel now! Before watching this video, all i did was take, take and take😅
Nice ... I had been playing the Colle for a bit so there are some similarities here that will help it make sense with what I know. More recently I've been trying out your Fianchetto (sp?) Vienna... this is almost a melange of the two. And since I'm quite used to having the Fianchetto from playing Pirc and KID with Black, I think this will be more comfortable for me over the Colle.
Great lesson, coach. I love to watch you play and listen to you think out loud. Every time you get me to try a new opening, my rating takes a big dip until I get it worked out. Oh well. This one does seem very solid and interesting. The problem is, I have just started messing around with new openings for white and black! I have been learning the Vienna and the Nimzo-Indian. Maybe I will put the Vienna on hold and try this pseudo Catalan and see how it feels. I was also proud to see you went Bb5 on the pause the video moment. That was my choice also! Happy New Year!
Excellent Jefferson! I like the fact that you are exploring different openings such as the Nimzo-Indian. Even if you don't make them part of your repertoire, you are expanding your general knowledge. Happy New Year!
Bb5. Lots of threats with the knight hanging and the skewer or d6. If the knight retreats to c8, then I infiltrate with my rook with check and play f4 to lock out the bishop
I paused when you said (@20:55). I think I would play Bb5. Then my bishop is safe, the b-file is blocked, and I'm still threatening Bxe7, Bxd6+ (skewer), and Rd7+ (fork). I think he would respond with Nc8 (stopping all threats). But then I'd take the 7th rank with Rd7+ followed by Rxf7. His pieces are passive. I'm still attacking, and I won a pawn. Edit: I promise I didn't see your answer first :)
Bb5 saves Bishop allowing it to continue to control white squares near king. You still have rook coming in on d file and the other rook ready to double up.
Can you show pirc vs the English? I’m having a difficult time against that one. Also there’s a weird diamond formation I keep on losing to when I use the pirc
Happy New Year! Any chess-related resolutions for anyone? Mine are: 1. Read "My System" by Nimzowitsch 2. Read "100 Endgames You Must Know" by Jesus de la Villa 3. Play a blindfold game 4. Keep up with all of Coach Robert's content!
Tks, Robert. Just a quick question about the game. After 17.Qb3. Would it have been a good idea for black to castle?. The reason I ask is I have been in similar positions playing black. Even if it means giving a pawn up to get the King safe?. Bb5 Yay I would have played it. Stopped any rook counter play too.
Hello Carl! Yes, you have a good point. As a matter of fact, many times when a player is under pressure, they have to give material back or they will get checkmated.
I am looking for catalan. I thought you don't have it. Thank you for the Pirc. My black pieces is more solid than before. I am stronger in white due to a tempo up. My black pieces, well I try to play sicillian but oo many lines and too advance for me a beginner. Coach pirc help me for black. I try king indian attack but it is a little uncomfortable for me to play. I am looking for a main opening for white. I will try catalan for now. Now my black is cover and strong and my white pieces need an opening.
coach my new weaapon after KIA is catalan and i prefer the theorotıcal lines but agaınst slav defense catalan is kında meanıngles becauseof black can develop theır ls bıshop do you have a suggestıon about that
hello sir... i have a question, grandmasters and advanced players talk about ideal setups in endgames... how do we know what should be the ideal setup in endgames? can u make a video on this? it would be REALLYYYYY helpful... you had also told about this in a capablanca endgame review video you did... in that capablanca found his ideal setup and won the game.. but how do we apply it in our games? a video would be helpful as i said...
Hello! We certainly have to talk more about it, but it comes down to studying more endgames. Once you learn what to look for in order to have a favorable position, you can visualize what endgame you need to get into. Thus, you will trade and plan accordingly. A good illustration of this is the 10 rules we covered in lesson # 123 😀
Your Catalan is an excellent complimentary and similar opening to my primary … the Reti ( thanks to you my secondary w white is the Vienna btw). Some of the Reti structures also resemble the Queen’s Gambit and the English and E4s. Lots of good ideas and variations … later today for starters some bots are going to catch it.
Thank you for doing a new Catalan, got up at 2AM m to watch. . Even every single paid gotham course doesnt include the Catalan?. Does anyone know of a quick compilation of good Catalan players/games?
Hello! I think it is a great opening, but you will let me know 😎 Even if you don't make it part of your repertoire, you will expand your general Chess knowledge! Happy New Year!
Hello my dear coach... how are you?ok this is one of the nice lesson, thank you...but my dear coach why you wrote thumbnail lazy Catalan.? this is not lazy it is a smart and active opening... good another opening I learned our channel thank lots my dear coach.. thank lot...bye😊

Looking forward to this one, as I got into the Catalan almost by accident and enjoy the pressure it produces.
This video was incredibly informative. I especially loved how you eloquently and calmly talk through your thought process while playing, as well as show some of the theoretical line's outcomes with picture-in-picture. Very well done!! Thank you!
I love the catalan, it is my favorite opening. Muchas gracias!
Similar to my fav opening in the beginning… looking for a related variation. Great Channel.
Thank you! Happy New Year!

Great! I’m going to start to use it with the Double fianchetto. Please make another with additional middle game plans!
I loved how you combined both systems! After having a lot of success with the Colle, I found that when using other queen pawn openings like the London or the Queen's Gambit, I would try to incorporate elements of the Colle because it's so stronf
Round 6 was *_insane!_*
Definitely game of the century for me.
僕は白番では初手Nf3のカタランをずっとさしています。C4を突くのを遅らせるのが良さそうだなあと最近気づき始めていたのですが、それを解説している動画になかなか出会えていなかったので、この動画は本当にタメになりました!ありがとう!
This is the best chess coach i have seen online. And i have a seen quite a number

@20:54, Bd6+! (It took me a while to see it) Bb5 was another thought.
Robert Ramirez - The Knight Stalker
Yes another opening to study. Thank you coach.
You are more than welcome, Joshua! Happy New Year!
consideration of candidate moves is a good instruction because at lower levels we tend to be a bit impetuous and miss better moves.
21:17 i was looking into it for 30 mins xD and i dont know what the engine says, but in my opinion B5 is the most trouble for black
Thanks Robert sir! Iam waiting for this

One of the best instructors
Thanks for another great video! I'm excited to try another opening.
muy interesante, no conocía este sistema de Catalana, conservando las ventajas de la clásica y disminuyendo las desventajas
Grande Roberto 👏👏👏

You can play unrated games if you wanna try out New openings and dont2 risk losing rating points.
Bb5. Lots of threats with the knight hanging and the skewer or d6. If the knight retreats to c8, then I infiltrate with my rook with check and play f4 to lock out the bishop
Excellent! Thanks a lot for sharing your answer 🙌💪
Bb5 with the double threat of Bd6 skewering the R and Bxe7.
Don't rush and consider this rule : no counterplay for the opponent ! I'll try to remember it. Thanks Robert 👍🇨🇵
You got it, Frederic! Happy New Year! 👍
Congrats for 50k subscribers!
Thank you! 🙌
At 20:55, thinking about Bb5...... YES!
i went from 1400-1600 in a few weeks with the colle-zukertort :-) you're the man!
👏💪😎

Great video... Can you make some videos on the French defence and English opening.
Happy new year coach ❤️
Yes, we have to cover almost every opening including the French and English! Happy New Year!
Happy new year Robert!!!
Thank you! Happy New Year! 👍

Very instructive, thanks coach

What’s your thoughts on Catalan in bullet chess? People don’t often resign. They will try to time me out
Please, make more videos on this opening!
Absolutely! Happy New Year!
Thank you for the video
Thanks a lot, very nice game! I started playing/working on the catalan since a few weeks. Are you going to do more videos about it?
Hello Ron! Yes, we have a long way to go with the Catalan and many other openings 👍

I just learnt your video on colle system but you already threw Catalan out! Which one should I play?
I think you should learn the Colle first and then give this Catalan a try. Finally, you stick to the one you like better or you could even keep both 👍
coach my new weaapon after KIA is catalan and i prefer the theorotıcal lines but agaınst slav defense catalan is kında meanıngles becauseof black can develop theır ls bıshop do you have a suggestıon about that
Hello! Since you don't mind learning the theory 💪 I think you should prepare a strong variation vs the Slav like we learned in lesson # 72 👍
Thanks coach
I love Chess more when I watch you play 😃
🙌😎 Happy New Year!
I paused right on cue, chose bishop to b5, but choosing the best moves is not something I do under time pressure...
Not yet, but soon you will! 💪 Happy New Year Doug!
@@NMRobertRamirez Happ New Year to you too Rob! Have you made a lesson about how to read the position faster yet?

@@NMRobertRamirez okay sir thanks (that comment was on an alt of mine).
2:28
As a catalan player i usually just play QG and then transpose to catalan, but either way its good
Thank you for sharing 🙌 Happy New Year!
@@NMRobertRamirez thank you coach, u too
I would go Bcb5 so If rook takes I take with the c pawn and then my Rooks are gonna have open files to attack the king!
Would have done Bb5. Too many threats like Bxe7, Bd6 and if Nc8, Rd7 and mate with C5. I hope. 😙
Coach o joined my first tournament and i lost and draw two games from aproximately 5 point advantage position 😔 playing online is the best
Hello Yusuf! That is part of the process 👍 Thanks a lot for sharing and please keep it up 💪😎 Happy New Year!
4:37 Aww, should have played a standard line of the French
Next time 💪

You got it, Tony! You have to study GM Vladimir Kramnik's games for sure 👍
If i was playing i will just leave my bishop
I would of go to Rook check is protected .
Great game 💯💯💯🥇🎖🏅🏆👑⚡️💥
Thank you, Joseph! 🙌👍 Happy New Year!
I sub, thanks
Welcome aboard!
Bb5? thats what would have done
Oh man u did the same move I thought of hahaha
Yes finally ,i ask you for an opinion about this opening several times on your last livestream but you didnt answer 😔,so it is worth trying it?
Of course, it's one of the strongest openings for white outside e4
Hello! I think it is a great opening, but you will let me know 😎 Even if you don't make it part of your repertoire, you will expand your general Chess knowledge! Happy New Year!
Think its called the pseudo catalan
Thank you, Andy! Happy New Year!

sorry bishop

This guy is really weak for an NM, 18:16 any decent player shouldn't take that long to see Rb8
Dude sometimes you just overlook a simple move in your calculation. Even carlsen does.
