I think a government is mainly interested in protecting itself and not its people. In turn, in some ways, it ends up protecting people. This is why the government says misleading things when notifying the press, mainly so they can continue to covertly persuade the populace into whatever narrative they need in order to achieve the things they need.
On that note, the journalist also look for monetary gain within the information they share. By the time the story gets to us, we're fed cake from either side. It has been twisted to such a degree through different filters.
Was this persons intentions to help the people? Id hopefully assume so. In the ways the government is interested in protecting itself, i firmly believe canadian inteligence agency has intrested in detecting threats to the canadian population. Threats will always exist regardless of the amount of individual freedom removed as a result of law. People exsist partly to prey upon eachother, from minor to extreme, we live in a world where every person is a perpetrator and a victim. At the end of the day, if some rules gotta be broken with strict bureaucracy in order to strip specific individuals of their librerty, in order to protect the lives of many, than so be it. As long as that level of bureaucracy is in place. If it were to be authoritarian it would be a different story.

Breaking into peoples property with justifiable cause. Assuming he's truthful about the amount of bureaucracy it takes to break into someones home. Obviously he cant be specific, but im assuming these people pose serious threats if they need to break into peoples house to survey to acquire evidence proving they are up to no good.

I'd be interested to see the fine line between "pose serious threats" and going on fishing expeditions into the devices of the citizenry. If they didn't find anything, is there a punishment for them and a reward for you? Who watches the watchers? Voting in a machine and trusting that all it's parts are working in our best interest is...not intelligent to say the least.

Didn't the former director for CSIS for the Asia-Pacific recently in a hearing about the Emergency Act state that members of parliament and municipal and provincial governments are working with the CCP? You would think that would be considered a security risk having communist Chinese spies at every level of government. How that is legal and allowed is a mystery. Perhaps the beurocracy of these organizations are also compromised. Klaus Schwab openly brags about penetrating cabinets. Seems like an organization which doesn't have the interests of national sovereignty at heart. Maybe the good people in these agencies should look at WEF the same way they do other foreign organizations with goals of subversion of democratic states. I would work for an agency that had that level of integrity

The amounts of Bureaucracy in CSIS...I'm not surprised this guy went to some Pollical job...post CSIS. Oh in the best years of my life growing up in Kitchener, ON (and still live here), I worked at a factory job (shortly after my dreams of being a PI were dashed...by my own insecurities) in the early 90's... "Custom Trim" at 409 Weber St W, Kitchener...just at the border of Kitchener and Waterloo. It's now a storage place now...but once it was an EI office and a factory (where I worked) at the time (thank you Ray Days...). Later in the 90's you heard the rumours that CSIS had an office there. I truly would love to know if that was really True or not? I was a Loss Control Operator just out of High School. I have always been on the side of the "good guys" growing up colleting comic books and believing in Super Hero's. In this Post COVID-19 world we live in...I call "cops" what they were colourfully called in the 70's (hmmm I smell bacon) due to their heavy handedness for people who just though we had freedoms and wanted to access them. Could you tell me if CSIS operated in Kitchener? I'm just curious...for personal amusement. Like you're saying right now...static points of Security (cameras, locks etc.)...are fine. However...GenXers who grew up knowing how to fish, fend for themselves and loved FREEDOME. I hope you never label us as "rebels or enemies"... We just want to keep doing what we do without Government interference. Thank you Andrew for interviewing this author. It truly makes me want to buy and read his book!!! I still have a "super hero" mentality in my Heart...and I wish Good truly defeated Evil. Sadly...in 2022...Shades of Grey... I have no Truth left in my "poor" heart...today...
