It is been dipped in the name of the lord
The spinning wheel, like an eight-petal lotus, spins,
With five tatvas and three gunas as the pattern.
The Lord stiched it in 10 months
The threads have been pressed to get a tight weave.
It has been worn by gods, people, and sages
They soiled it with use.
Kabir says, I have covered my self with this cloth with great care,
And eventually will leave it like it was.

Charukeshi is a beutiful karnatik raga. The Kabir's bhajan is vedanta. it defines human body with sprituality. A line of the bhajan says " jo chaader sur nar muni odhi, odhi ke mail kini chadaria, das kabeer jatan se odhi, jyo ki tyon dhar dini chadaria" means make good use of your body which is a clean sheet of cloth, don't make it dirty with wrong deeds.

One of the best renditions of the very captivating rAga 'chArukeshi' by exponents of the Dhrupad style of singing - the Gundecha brothers! Incidentally, I was surprised to find my closest friends Madhu (who is seen accompanying the artistes on the tAnpura) as part of this august group (he is a disciple of the grand trio). Wonderful experience listening to these great doyens.

Rightly said. Its Shool taal. But it is subtly played by the Pakhwaj player. And the Gundecha brothers have shown the real mastery in singing accurately in this complex taal.

How much of this is improvisation?
The basic song that is the part where the lyrics are sung for the first time, is composed and fixed. Rest of it is improvisation. Within the lyrics also there are many improvisations.
To add to asamvav, the improvisation is not random, it has to follow precise rules of grammer, just as a good author would still follow the rules of English grammer and would not use words in any random order.
I would like to see these guy record with the rapper Lil' Wayne!
So sad and ironic that these brothers are now accused of rape and sexual harassment. They didn't learn anything from this great Kabir verse and stained the chadariya.
