we had shonen jump in the united states through the scholastic publishing company. my grandmother taught special ed language arts to 2nd and 1st graders (ages 6-7-8 generally). her school had a deal with scholastic that lasted beyond her employment contract, so when she retired my grandmother used that same scholastic deal to subscribe to shonen jump which lasted until jump transitioned to digital here in the US. talking abt the physical magazines brought back memories of secret yugioh cards and letters from the editors
Thank you for uploading. I’m from America and appreciate your uploads from dawn dusk and this channel. You have been an asset for the English community and I am looking forward to more from you 😊
Hi LunaPienArt, thank you for your hard work! Yes, there is Shonen Jump in Germany 😁 Especially in Düsseldorf, which has the biggest Japanese community in Europe, you can find it easily in Japanese book stores :) I even have the Jump volume in which the final chapter of Naruto was released, it is like a treasure for me 🏴☠️ I cried when that chapter came out 🥲 I grew up with Naruto and we were the same age, when the great ninja war ended 🥹
Thank you for all the work you've done Dawn&Dusk! Your theories are very insightful and informative! I apologize for the silly question but would "Hiru" and it's context also be applied to "Dr. Hiruluk"? Or are they written in different letters? Also do you think Dungeons and Dragons be an influence too since it's also an RPG game? Much love from California ❤
I’m sure other people will answer, im relatively early, but ill give my perspective. I dont think we get shonen jump around here (east south america) but if we do its definitely definitely not common place in any of the average stores or quick stops like gas stations or drug stores. Sometimes though at Walmart I’ll see volumes of one piece, and ive seen them in bigger selections at book stores. Hope this helps! Thanks for your videos :)
In Europe, I bought a Jump magasine, it was about 6 to 7 times as much as the Japanese price, due to the cost of shipping (and depending on the type of shipping chosen), meaning I paid mostly for transport.
Shonen Jump unfortunately hasn't had a physical serialization in the US since around 2014 or so... When it did it was $3.50 with a monthly release (roughly ¥520)
Hi Luna, thanks for all you do, the additional depth to One Piece you provide is always interesting. Here is my question: with all the talk recently about the moon, I want to draw your attention to Chapter 392. It’s part of Robin’s flashback and we see, inside Ohara’s tree of knowledge, a model of the solar system. The planet in the centre of the solar system is not the sun! It might even be an ancient model of Luffy’s world, with lower sea levels. It appears to have a Red Line. What do you think of that model? Replacing the sun as the centre of the solar system with the earth seems very significant.
Always appreciate the translation breakdowns, i like how the raven in this chaprer muginn sounds like mugen which sounds like infinity as does the jourmangandr which is essentially an ouroboros. Since u made some skypeia parallels i wonder if this sun god will be an ally and be the ganfall of this arc
I've only ever seen one physical copy of Shonen Jump in my country and that was about 19 or 20 years ago and I remember being told that it only got sent to the shop by accident it was supposed to be sent to California. I bought the copy because it had a Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon promo card in it. Having said that I'm sure there's somewhere over here that now sells physical copies of shonen jump. edit: That's in Ireland by the way
I’m sure it was one of your videos or community posts I commented on, but I’m even more convinced of Imu being a Cat. Ussop once says “When a cat lives 100 years it’s tail splits and makes a demon” if Imu’s a cat it’d make sense about the 5 demons he’s given out to the Gorosei, even if taking one back from Saturn destroyed the demon Imu still has maybe 7 more. One for themself, 4 for the Gorosei, maybe one for Garling if we’re feeling generous, leaving 1 more skulking about? 🤔 Pointing us toward that sweet scary, Nekomata. Walking and talking like a person, controlling people like puppets, manipulating and playing with its toys and minions, as a cat plays with its prey.
As a big Kamen rider fan for 20+ years, I can’t believe I miss that connection. Oda did do domflamingo glasses based on Kamen rider super-1, nice to have Hongo’s reference as well. As for the the final straw hat, my theory is it’s jewelry Bonney.
In Hong Kong there is no Chinese version of Jump magazine, so I read the new episode of One Piece from the website Manga Plus from Shueisha. Since there’s no Chinese translation on that site, I read the English version. I am quite excited after reading the chapter. Seems to me it’s very promising of great adventures ahead. However, I am very curious about the last member. I know what sensei Oda said, but do we have to stick to 10 members beside Luffy? Can’t we just have 9 members or more than 10 in the crew? Like who forbid sensei Oda to put 13 members on the straw hat crews? Can’t he allow to NOT add in any new crew? Why all the fuss about a new crew while sensei Oda seems reluctant to add anybody new to the straw hat? I know there are patterns in the story but does he has to ALWAYS stick to the so called pattern? He is the creator of the story and the plot, not a slave of any previous plans.
Not sure what it is now but I subbed to shonen jump from 2004 till about 2012. They were 7.99 if you bought it in the shops I believe. The yearly sub was probably around $60/yr.
Yata no Kagami was the first thing i thought about when Luffy broke the mirror-wall and Kamen Rider spoke about the sun god. I have been playing Okami recently so my mind immediatly went there XD
Back in the early 2000's here in Canada we did have shonen jump! mags I was a small child back then so im unsure how close it was to the japanese sjm releases nor price

In fact, there is a panel that shows the PoV from the floor looking up towards a sewing table and on the bottom left hand corner of this we see a box that appears to have clothes in them.(could this be the strawhats clothes from before?). We know under normal circumstances that if you take a cats actual size, and then considering the snake and the bird, then this sungod is likely human sized. Using this scaling it would make sense that the grasshopper is its normal size as well and it's possible that the giants here were shrunk down as well.(if they aren't giants then normal humans) With all this said, I believe it's a df power.
