    Dude I think the 85mm focal length is great for landscape photography and you capture nature very well with this lens. You have such a way of taking the mundane and creating lovely images and videos, I envy that. Thanks for the video. That butterfly though!

    I think both the 56 and the 90 are great outdoors. And, when you stop them down they are killer sharp. Beautiful images Jerred, have a great weekend!

      I agree, the 90 is fantastic for this kind of shooting. I have the 50/1, not the 56. I really like that too, but wished it had a slightly shorter minimum focus distance. If I had to choose, I’d take the 90.

      The 90 is AWESOME for this kind of stuff, but the 56 has taken over for me because it has some better minimum focus distance... just kind of vibes more with my style.

    As great as it is, I kinda regret buying the XF 56mm. It’s a joy to use and takes great pictures but the Viltrox 75mm f1.2 looks to be better in pretty much every department. Their 27mm f1.2 also looks great as well. I read recently that Sigma is bringing out a fast 135mm for x mount. That would be a dream prime but can’t find any further info.

    • @JerredZ
      @JerredZ  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I hear you! I just find the working distance more my style with the 56 - the Viltrox just doesn't do it for me - not because of image quality, but I just like getting in closer personally. It's still a great option though.

  • @brownbear100

    Love the WR for this. The added contrast and smoother bokeh compared to the old version makes all the difference. Such a characterful lens. Used to use the 23 1.4 WR for this and 90mm if there was space. I can see the 56 replacing the 23 for this purpose.
    Would be great if you could share the film recipe you used. Classic chrome based as a guess.

    • @JerredZ
      @JerredZ  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh boy... I love the 90. I have bought and sold it twice! HA! And as far as a recipe - I don't really use them any longer - unless I have a specific idea. These are all Nostalgic Negative as a base with white balance dialed in... and that's it! Then it's just a quick contrast adjustment in Lightroom. Thank you for watching!

      My man - do you need EVERY lens on the planet? (and of course the answer is yes... yes you do). Can't wait to see your shots with it! A little slow to focus... but still awesome to work with. I do wish Fuji had an 85mm lens that reacted as quickly as both the Sony GM and Sigma Art 85 lenses do... but I guess I've finally come to peace that Fuji just might not ever get to that level in autofocus speed!

      Oh, Dan - yes. I agree. I wish it was full of a little more light... but the softness overcomes that, right? And the contraption is the VRIG MG-03 - a magnetic phone attachment for some b-roll! I don't know if your WR version is the same, but the original 56mm f1.2 apparently gathers light less than one might think, due to its apodisation filter - as best f1.7. EDIT - turns out only some of the old 56mm have that apodisation filter. The others gather light like a usual f1.2.

    • @JerredZ
      @JerredZ  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have no idea, but the WR version rocks either way - but thanks for this in case others might notice something like this?

    • @mikefoster6018
      @mikefoster6018 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@JerredZ It also seems like only some of the old 56mm ones had that APD. Either way, like you say, a great lens and I mine worked a treat in some night time shots in London. The only bad thing I have to say about it is that it's awesome f1.2 bokeh is sooooo seductive to someone learning photography, and became a bit of a crutch for me for about two years XD Now I like to work a bit harder to have worthy backgrounds more in focus.

    • @4Kandlez
      @4Kandlez หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fujifilm made two separate versions of the old 56, one with and one without the APD filter. They are clearly identifiable.

    • @mikefoster6018
