    I had to take a washer out from my new slammer 3 8500 to get the line to lay even.
    Great video, I want a BG reel like that.

    according to the manual it came with and confirmed with daiwa engineers, the linelay is supposed to be shaped like a cone. that's why your linelay has a dimple right below the spool lip which would hurt casting distance if using for the surf as well as windknots if the line slides up into the dimple causing it to be loose when casted, on a boat it doesn't really matter.

    Great reels. My only question is, what are you gonna ado with 1.1km of line on your reel.....perhaps some 50 pound mono backing would have Been more cost effective....or a smaller reel like a 4000 or similar

    My Penn battle 3 10,000 didn't even get 600 yards of 0.45mm 65 lb braid on it and it's a lot bigger than my bg 8000s and 500 of 65 lb braid nearly fills my bgs so how small is that line

    Why dont you use heavier braid like 80#? that way you could really crank up the drag on the larger fish without the line snapping

    • @FishingWithWilso
      @FishingWithWilso 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could crank up the drag all the way with 50lb line, Daiwa BG only has 15kg drag

    • @mitchelljohnson1676
      @mitchelljohnson1676 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FishingWithWilsowell not exactly. There’s more drag at the tip of the rod then at the top of the reel. The line having to travel through all the eyes of the rod and the force of the fisherman pulling back on the fish adds quite a few kg of drag. At the tip of the rod it’s probably closer to 25 kg

    Wow what a process, but nothing wrong with doing it right. Is there a specific way to putting the plastic washers on? Just take the spool of and place washers. I have never seen those washers before. Also what do you think the best size rod to use with the 8000 bg , I'm wondering if my ugly stick big water 10ft will match . The first guide on the rod is about 4 cm in diameter. And about 2.5 ft from the reel seat

  • @rexe5124

    What diameter was the braid you are using. 4 & 8. I will be using J braid 50lb. Should I use 4 strand (500m)aswell as 8 strand (300m). Then about 150m 50lb giant Abrasion mono. How much j braid do you think I can get on the BG8000

    • @TheASFN
      @TheASFN  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would use the J-Braid 40lb (it is a lot stronger and higher diameter), the 4 strand for backing and the 8 strand for casting. 600m 40lb DAIWA J Braid 4 strand as backing and 300m 8 strand DAIWA J-Braid as topshot for casting.

    I would really appreciate if you do a demonstration on how washers work to properly align the line in the spool. I have the washer never knew what they are for until I saw your video. Didn't see that anywhere else in the internet and was clueless what they are for. Thought they could be replacement washers. However, just by explaining doesn't tell a lot what to do. A step by step detailed video would be much appreciated and I believe it will have great interest among other viewers...

    • @georgeveltchev530
      @georgeveltchev530 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      if your reel forms a cone .i.e. , not aligning the line parallel to the spools core then you can adjust this by adding or removing a washer from the shaft. To do this you have to remove first the drag knob , then the spool to expose the metal shaft . Add a washer if the line is gathers on top or remove one vice versa .... simple as that .

      Did you put 4x or 8x strand braid on the real ? 4 x does make a louder noise than 8x as its less smoother. If you not sure about it take it in to the shop you bought it from and let them have a look. They bullet proof reels but you may have bought the dud 1.

    Can I add just straight braid?

    • @TheASFN
      @TheASFN  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can, but it is advisable to add a little bit of mono first, even 10m. the braid goes under a lot of pressure, if a spool heats up when on a big fish it expands and compress the braid but when it cools down again the braid doesnt expand back resulting in all the braid spinning on the spool.
