@@gpfishingadventures7834 Bass and Pollock in saltwater when spinning. Bass are great sport,in Ireland they're a saltwater species. There's also a lot of other saltwater fish which we fish for using bait on the bottom, thornback ray, stingrays, bullhuss, dogfish, spurdog, smoothound, tope and many more 👍
Hi, can someone here give an educated guess on the 6500 model? I'm looking forward to went fishing for cod and halibut in the north of norway in a few weeks, and i need a reel with capabilities to fish pelargic in very deep depths AND also trolling shallow under the surface and in all depths in mid-water. In other words, I'm looking for a durable allrounder for sea fishing.. recommendations? thx
Just re-watching some of these old vids. You use the pro-spec braid on everything? Fluorocarbon leaders and FG knots? I just got myself a 4500 vi live liner for the yak and I want to use 20lb line… or should I go 30? I fish around a lot of reef down here in the Naki so presuming the 30lb would be more abrasion resistant…
I've got pro spec on all my reels except my game reel as I needed 80lb braid for that. What sort of fishing do you do? If you're softbaiting or slow jigging, 20lb braid should be fine, but if you're concerned about being busted off, then 30lb could be a good option. I always run 30lb because I always fish over rocky foul when softbaiting.
@@gpfishingadventures7834 sweet cheers for that. I mainly bait fish in and around reef structures so 30lb May be my best option. Just got a new peen 4500 LL so keen to use braid on it. I do softbaiting only when I’m up in Coro, have 20lb on my setup for that and seems to go ok 👍 Cheers for the Intel
Choice video Greg, I was lucky enough to get my mits on these a few months ago (to look at). Really like the 2500 size being added to the line up. Having fished the Slammer III 3500 and 6500 for a while I have no doubt that these will continue to be a hit and take a punishing on the yak like they're known to handle. If you need your reels spooled flick me a message and I'll open up the shop 🤙🏽
Yeah the 2500 has definitely been a popular new model in the range. I was thinking about getting that size but ended up sticking with 3500 as I wanted dura drag. Thanks for the offer to spool em but have already done this today 🤙🏽
They come stock with a Penn Ocean Assassin rod, which are solid. But personally I go with Ugly Stik Black Tiger or Gold rods 10-15kg range. They are indestructible.
What you think of the Piscifun® Salis X Trolling Reel Conventional Level Wind Reel for a first reel,37lbs drag, ill use it for catfish but take it down to Mexico for Saltwater fishing,I was thinking of the bg 6500,but idk the conventional gets my attention more
Just ordered a Penn slammer 3 8500 and I am going to use it for livebait img for kingfish when livebaiting when you said the lowest drag setting is higher then the slammer 4 can you just leave the bailarm open or should it be alright if you use smaller livebaits
Nice man! You could leave the bail arm open, but the live bait will run off with your line. There are devices you can buy to clip onto you rod and hold your line while the bail arm is open. Not sure what they're called but might be worth a Google! Milan from The Lateral Line uses them.
I need a Shore Jigging Reel for my Majorcraft Solpara 1002H rod 60-100g. What reel would be better between Slammer 3, Slammer 4, BG MQ, Saltist LTD or Saragosa SW-A? And what size? I would put at least 300m of 40lbs PE3 Braid.
Out of those reels, I've only used the Slammer 3 and Slammer 4. I've also used the Daiwa BG16 which is somewhat similar to the MQ. Are you sure you need 300m of line? What species are you targeting? If you're casting 60-100 gram size jigs, I would recommend going for a 5500 size - Slammer 3 or 4 in this size would suit. The 5500 maxes out at 300m of 40lb braid, but I wouldn't recommend filling the reel that full. Put 200-250m on. If you definitely need the 300+m of line capacity, you'll need to go up reel size, but that will come with the tradeoff of extra weight, which is not ideal while jigging.
How much is the price of Ben Spinfisher Vl8500 and is there shipping to Saudi Arabia
Buying one for surf fishing in Ireland... they're what I need, great review thanks 👍
Thanks! What sort of species do you target in Ireland?

g'day, what are the two small plastic washers used for?
Hey mate, they can be used to raise or lower the spool. It helps ensure the line is being spread evenly over the spool when retrieved.
