Ben went to the reception as far as I remember. He simply politely said to Dave his faith meant he couldn't come to the actual ceremony. And yeah, they're still good mates.
I was just confounded by most of those cartoons. He's attributing positions to conservatives I've never heard conservatives express. The one about Tennessee passing a "child bride" law is a particularly insidious lie, though. It was an oversight in the wording, was caught early on, and immediately changed.
It’s like how the Left harps about “right wing Qanon” to death meanwhile I’ve only ever heard leftists talk about Qanon. Never have I ever heard a genuine conservative or right winger even bring it up, let alone push the belief.
It wasn't even an oversight. In order for the laws regarding legal marrying age to change, a new law would have to amend or repeal an old law. That law had absolutely no language that in any way affected old laws, which in legal terms literally means that old laws still apply alongside the new. Nobody had even considered any implications because in pure legal terms, there were no implications or loopholes or anything.
Same way you have to be highly educated (brain washed) to go in for all this lefty BS. No one in the real world comes up with that nonsense on their own.
Right Lore: Trying to discover best Political, Cultural, Economic system. Left lore: Right Man Bad. Here's his bad qualities that make him bad n st00pid
The flag in the background of the child bride cartoon was the Tennessee flag. There was a whole thing in TN where a GOP rep tried to abolish marriage licenses and replace them with common law marriage, which, under the bill, would only be available to straight couples. When the legislation was introduced, because it eliminated marriage licenses, it also eliminated age minimums for marriage. Granted, the bill was idiotic, but they amended the minimum age in the bill to 18. The Democrats saying that the GOP wanted to legalize child marriage doesn’t pass muster. In 2018, the TN legislature was informed that there were loopholes in the marriage licensing system that allowed judges to issue marriage licenses at their discretion without a minimum age limit. The legislature passed a bill making 17 the minimum age of marriage. It passed 96-0 in the TN House and 28-2 in the TN Senate (the two no votes were from senators who wanted to emancipate 17 year olds who got married, allowing them to file for divorce and hire attorneys).

Something I noticed about the leftist version of Stonetoss is that: When they represent Republicans that aren't specific (Like Ben Shapiro), they use an elephant instead of a human. When Stonetoss represents Democrats that aren't specific (Like AOC), he still uses a human. Maybe I've missed the comics where he shows a Donkey in place of a Dem.
The annoying part of this is that republicans actually have a LOT of organizations that support pregnant women/single mothers, but they're ignored. Also ignored is the draft Roe V Wade ruling explicitly protecting other rulings/laws because Roe V Wade is a unique ruling created from nothing by an activist court.
Clearly they think helping people voluntarily(charity) doesn't count. It only counts if daddy government is forcing other people to give money to a "cause"(which oddly never seems to help those people) with men with guns. Funny how charities people willingly give money to seem to help people far more than government programs- maybe it's the lack of the parasitic bureaucracy attached to them. That and conservatives give FAR more than progressives to charities.
The best leftist memes were the Obama poster that just said “HOPE” and the yard sign that says “In this house, we believe….” I think the message of both was pretty cringe, but it communicates a lot of information in a very short time and it’s easy for others to tweak and make their own - which is pretty much the definition of a meme.
An interesting point! I guess the word "meme" has been appropriated to mean "Funny reference," but you're not wrong that the Left does good in the traditional sense of "meme." Ultimately, we laugh hardest at jokes that push the boundaries, and the boundaries in our Meme Age are set by woke neo-liberals, which is why the Left Cannot Meme.
Things we all know the l e f t can't do. The left cant, Meme. Read. Follow context. Math. Self-Awareness. Situational Awareness. Reflect. Relate to reality. Identify Jokes. Do research. Support their claims.
I was trying to have an abortion debate on the comment section of a Danish newspaper. But I couldn't do it, because the paper removed my opponents' comments before I could answer them. Presumably because they were so vile, the (christian) paper didn't want them there. Would've really liked to be able to answer though - winning this debate is so easy, since the left abandoned "safe, legal and rare" in favour of "kill the babies and celebrate!"
The reason you couldn’t see the joke about the aliens is because you’re not racist. I think the joke is that because the top part of the comic has white Greco Roman people, the Maga guy believes they built it. But because the South Native American is brown, the maga guy believes that only an alien could do it. Even explaining this makes it sound completely ridiculous and roundabout.
At least they did attempt "show, don't tell" there. I could imagine the people being labeled as "white european" and "non-white South American" in that comic for that extra cringe.
But even that part is a stretch because the entire premise of the alien theory is from a show that was on the history channel like 15 fucking years ago and it had nothing to do with republican or white people pretending to be better... it was a goof show because history channel ratings were in the gutter. Its just so umbelievable unrelated to anything. Just a bludgeon to call white people racists or whatever the message was
The joke with "Aliens built the pyramids" is that it triggers know-it-alls. I don't actually think they built it, I just say they did because it will always get me a reaction that will give me something to laugh about. Some just take everything to seriously and literally. And it's a Star Gate reference.

The one of the trans with the infinity gauntlet, assured of their own rightousness, moral clarity, and correctness, snapping themselves away is top tier standard 😆
The problem with left wing memes is that not only do they use a lot of words, but they also make the words hard to read. I am not talking about a wall of text. Artistically they are hard to read. Ethan Van Scriver, My Boi Zach, Some Guy, and Perch could explain it better than I can. They use a color scheme that makes your eyes not want to look at the words.
@@antirevomag834 Generally, yes. But the "point" behind the existing "meme's" right is the wall of text. Putting a wall of text behind _both_ is a statement, and having the same word pop up multiple times in the wall can draw attention subconsciously. As a counter-meme (posted in response to the original), I think it could work. Mostly, though, it would be for triggering anyone who found the original one to be funny or insightful.
@@shaventalz3092 while true, it would affect those who found the original insightful, the trick to a meme is to spread it like a virus, if you want to trigger them more than once, it is best if it's a message that they will, in essence, be 'forced' to see multiple times on the feed, either by offense, or by people who disagree with them posting it, and them running into it by happenstance. The wall of text behind both ends up being hard to understand without context, which is part of the problem with this meme in the first place. I mean, if they wanted to convey their meme in a more pellettable way, it would've been ' the right: Hillary shot JFK for china!' or something that conflates multiple theories together in a jumbled mess, to the same effect as the wall of text background, while being shorter, and thus easier to spread, while also adding the context that 'the right' are nuts, since it would contextually make no sense as a conspiracy theory.
The thing that actually offends me about BreadPanes is how his comics are repeating the exact arguments and punchlines I've seen from political comics 10, 20, 30 years ago. There's nothing original about his work.

In order for the Lefts ideologies to make any sense you have to jump through 8000 hoops and do 6000 backflips....which the right can ruin with 3 words and a picture....
The reason why they need so many words is because they need to reshape your thinking into their way of thinking. Stonetoss and alex's memes are based on a general person's mind aka the normie. Breadpanes has to set the joke up with lots of words to shape the context or else you'd never understand the meme as it will become too confusing to understand.

That first BreadPanes meme immediately struck me because I recall Trump making a similar statement about why he's been under so much fire. I find that a tad amusing.
Wowee, I just was reminiscing about that very exact quote from the Psalms the mucho texto meme points out. The entire point is completely missed, as it is a call for retribution, specifically citing what the oppressors of the Jewish people did to them. This is from Psalm 137: 8 O daughter of Babylon, doomed to be destroyed, blessed shall he be who repays you with what you have done to us! 9 Blessed shall he be who takes your little ones and dashes them against the rock! (ESV, although translations for this passage seem very similar regardless of translation.) This is not a blanket endorsement of infanticide, but a desire for vengeance with a specific citation. If the Babylonians did some other atrocity, and this Psalmist was a witness to it, the 9th verse would have been in reference to that. As a Christian I find the idea for this sort of vengeance quite barbaric, but understanding context is important. Whenever anyone, be they a believer or not, quotes something from Scripture, find for yourself what precedes and follows it. (In this case, the 9th verse is the final one).

@@TransRoofKorean Me too. I missed that one. Maybe my total aversion to social media would would explain it. Dunno.
i would argue that the problem is not that "the left can't meme"
the problem is in the origin of the meme itself
a meme is the imitation of reality with some exagerated attributes ot make it fun
what if the problem is not the making of the meme
but the base of itself
so... the left can meme but the real problem with said memes is
the left can't/refuse to see reality
Regardless the left can't have fun because that's offensive
it's why they need so many words. They need to set the base. They can't go off of naked reality.
It also needs to be intrinsically memorable and quickly digestible to work
This is pretty much everyone's arguments. Comedy illustrates contradictions, ideologies are built to avoid addressing contradictions.
At the heart of a meme is Truth. The left cannot meme because they do not understand truth.

2 hidden comments.. it continues.
Leftists: "GQP are pro life because they want to marry children."
Me: "Why do lies come so naturally to your forked tongue?"
Worse than that. He's attributing positions to conservatives that I've actually heard way more often from leftists.
They see memes as a way to indoctrinate people. They use so much text to establish the lore of their ideology
Same way you have to be highly educated (brain washed) to go in for all this lefty BS. No one in the real world comes up with that nonsense on their own.

My man the rights entire humor is calling minority groups pedophiles
I'm actually for the elimination of marriage laws. It's not the purview of the state.
It’s amazing how often they repeat the child bride thing despite there being no truth to it. I don’t think their NPC firmware ever patched that out
So leftists are against child brides because they only want to have sex with them not marry them?
The left being dishonest with facts? Whodda thunk? 😂

When Stonetoss represents Democrats that aren't specific (Like AOC), he still uses a human.
Maybe I've missed the comics where he shows a Donkey in place of a Dem.
There was one about the 2020 election that used a donkey
The best leftist memes were the Obama poster that just said “HOPE” and the yard sign that says “In this house, we believe….”
I think the message of both was pretty cringe, but it communicates a lot of information in a very short time and it’s easy for others to tweak and make their own - which is pretty much the definition of a meme.
"In this house we believe" is basically the Nicean creed of the western wokist.
An interesting point! I guess the word "meme" has been appropriated to mean "Funny reference," but you're not wrong that the Left does good in the traditional sense of "meme."

Yup, I remember this talking point as well, absolutely absurd.
It's retarded because clearly the aqueducts were built by aliens too.
ahhh, so thats what it was.

The right: reality.

@@shaventalz3092 part of what makes a meme work is it being short and to the point. The word salad is why the left memes don't work as it is.

This is from Psalm 137:
8 O daughter of Babylon, doomed to be destroyed,
blessed shall he be who repays you
with what you have done to us!
9 Blessed shall he be who takes your little ones
and dashes them against the rock! (ESV, although translations for this passage seem very similar regardless of translation.)
This is not a blanket endorsement of infanticide, but a desire for vengeance with a specific citation.
