I always see if I can get an all clear in fever before going for the extension, it's almost always the better move as your opponent has less time to pressure you, you get the extra length bonus in and 5 more seconds, the simple conversion of the sandwich chain tail can be put down very quickly if you get get the right pieces and it's not uncommon on the 10 stair chain pattern when you have a 3 puyo or bicolour 4 puyo piece to just luck out and get a free 11 AC or that one sandwich chain to have a free all clear tail in one piece or simply to get the right piece to clear the extras away at the start and then it can snowball to 15 VERY fast, even if you don't get the follow-up all clear it means less time extending to get a bigger chain on the 10, 11 or 12 in many cases all clearing into fever or during fever is such a powerful move as to even be preferable when you have a lot of garbage to going for a raw extension as it is hard to go from 5 to over 12 with a time limit and can't clear anything away, plus if you extend to 12 you have only done a 12 chain, but if you get a quick all clear opening you get the additional damage from your first chain on top and might even get the third or fourth if you have a lot of time going in and keep all clearing and it's usually not that hard to force the all clear! Extending is more valuable if you need the extra damage output a bit faster but for countering heavy damage, all clear all the way!

Having all clears in fever is a big advantage that guy got really lucky it’s actually crazy he got two all clears that’s must’ve why he counters so early but I have my standers of all clearing
