- Former India and Kolkata Knight Riders cricketer Yusuf Pathan has taken the political plunge and he is contesting as the Trinamool Congress candidate from West Bengal's Berhampore seat. He is up against Congress heavyweight and 5-time MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. Speaking to The Quint, Pathan discusses why he took the political plunge and why he chose West Bengal and not his home state Gujarat.

Adhir doesn't care anymore, he is contesting only to sustain his hold of respect and enjoying his position... people calling pathan outsider or that he won't be seen or available to the common folks if he wins, overlook the fact or find it hard to digest that their idol adhir sits at delhi, once in a blue moon appears before election...

@@iamwhoiam5224 I have seen his recent interview. Even before getting offer from TMC, he was preparing for T20 league in Sri Lanka. Now there are leagues for senior retired players too.

I have always been a big fan of the Pathan brothers as cricketers but Yusuf is contesting against the wrong candidate in a wrong party. Adhir Da is the most suitable candidate to represent Berhampore. He has done a lot for this constituency and we're all looking forward to his 5th term in office.
