I did some of my first flying in 1969, just the Continental flight between Colorado Springs and Albuquerque. Everyone dressed like it was a formal dinner party for a flight that cost $27.

Minimum wage in 1973 was $1.55! My best friend and I freshly licensed out cruising as we passed by a yellow bulldozer and I noted those machine operators make $5.00 an hour image making 5 dollars an hour? Long before the word "LOTTO" became a catchphrase our State allowed citizens 18 years and older to purchase a ticket with a serial # on it like several random numbers each different of course not white balls that we have today
There was only one prize $50,000. I remember claiming if I won 50 grand in 1971 I would never have to work the rest of my life!!! You could fill the same size shopping cart we use today for $50
that fed a family of five, no paper or plastic and every thing came mostly in heavy glass bottles and jars
The milk man brought the heavy glass milk bottles and deposited them in a provided metal box which later had insulated interiors for those hot summers. And Vitamin D or Chocolate and orange I think was your only choices.
The sexy women must have drank tons of milks cause the milk guy always took an hour to do them as I waited patiently in anticipation of a bowl of Wheaties, I missed saying HI to him and when milkman became obsolete I was sad then one day I noticed alot of kids on my bus looked just like him it was uncanny that made me feel like he was still with us and I bet many people he serviced missed him
It would cost more than that to catch an Uber let alone a plane.

People used to deal with their own problems. Nowadays people make everyone else deal with the problems that they themselves don't want to deal with.

I had to go to N. Carolina for a wedding. When we arrived, we were the last flight allowed in because there was 1 inch of snow. The bride's father didn't make it because his flight from Miami was cancelled. Anyhow, the hotel would not send the ride for me I was supposed to have. One limo pulled up to drop off some people while I was on the phone to the hotel. I hung up, offered the limo guy $300 and he said he wasn't going to drive in this. I said, I'm from Buffalo and I have a Yukon, I'll drive and he agreed! We even stopped at the Burger King drive thru because he wanted to go there. Who shuts down because of one inch of snow? I'm a teacher and we can get 8 inches and there is no snow day off. How inept are these people? Half of them are transplants from the north anyhow to work at the banks. My father was an Air Force pilot. He flew around with people shooting at him.

I believe this story. I grew up in Charlotte. The weather is ridiculous! And if there is one inch of snow everything shuts down without warning and I mean everything and it melts the next day 😂
@@ra_santiago It is true, and the funniest thing ever in my life. The only tiny lie is that I am not from Buffalo, NY. I am from the same region that gets the same weather, and I thought, well, this guy would understand Buffalo, as they always get all the headlines with the lake effect snow. But we get the exact same weather, sometimes worse. My friends think the part when I decided to say Buffalo was the best part, because the driver would have been like, where? if I had said where we really live. People on the east coast are clueless of anywhere west of the original colonies, still to this day. All of us on the south side (more the south east of the Great Lakes get it, from South Bend, Indiana to New York. It depends how the winds blow if the lakes are not frozen.
Or even if there's just 1mm of ice on the road! Everyone knows traction is proportional to the height of the surface. And everyone is a bad driver except me.

People used to dress up when flying was special there were meals and room to stretch your legs. Now it's as special as riding a flying bus.

I'm 100% Sara Schaffer. I was in the emergency exit row from Tampa to Laguardia and the flight attendant was going over what we are to do for that row. This guy wasn't even in the seats next to me, he was in the emergency exit row across from me and he was on a phone call while she was going over everything. She kept trying to get his attention and he was just like "Yeah, yeah." I finally leaned over and loudly said, "Hey get off the phone and listen to her, you're in the emergency exit row!" He glared at me and said into the phone, "I gotta go. I'm on the plane." Of course this was the same flight attendant that earlier when she asked me if I could handle sitting in the emergency exit row I replied, "I've seen every episode of Air Disasters at least twice. I got this!" and she gave me a terrified look.

People need to be clean AND DON’T ENCROACH INTO THE SPACE OF OTHER PASSENGERS. Recline your seat, cool, that’s WHY they recline. But if you stick your stinky feet into my elbow space there’s going to be a ‘collision’ between your toes and my elbow as I sit down coming back from the toilet. I’ll be aiming and I’ll sit down HARD.
