Thanks for the lesson! I love my Billy Corigan Big Muff! It’s a clean fuzz that does not create a lot of feedback. Playing this through an Orange Micro-Terror Dark, single 12 inch Orange cabinet, and the op-amp reissue. Also digging that Crowbar “no tour 2020” tour shirt.

Big muff forever. I have that model and I boost it with a tube screamer. This is my tone for pretty much anything. If you like death metal, grindcore or doomy black metal scoop the mids a bit; if you like doom, stoner & sludge add some low end, some mids and treble; if you like thrash/speed metal.... Get a RAT lol

Learned this song by ear few years back. Totally mistake too. I was messing around while jamming with a friend and I got the beginning riff all of the sudden. Took me a whooping 15 - 20 minutes to get it down. This video just validated me though!. There's this killer life video from Hooverfest that I also used to learn other songs from them (Electric Machine and Coming down from Outer Space).
I wonder if Lori also rolls off the tone control on her guitar, which would also really thicken up the sound. And, wow, Drop-D? They sound so much heavier than that.
@@DoesItDoom The little Muff tone control switch really thickens it up - I just recently bought a JHS Muffuletta, so I've got to try it with the tone rolled all the way off. I'm trying to write Doom Riffs in E Standard, just to prove heavy doesn't always mean low tuning.

The Op-Amp Big Muff is my favorite version. I build pedals and I have a real cool mod for it where I incorporate some rare diodes for the clipping. Also have you ever tried the Fantone Cream Puff? I would say that pedal is in the same category as this. Total sleeper that nobody knows about. More output than the Op-Amp Muff, and real heavy too. I'm not sure if it's made anymore. I have the schematic for it and I can build it. Cool Demo!

@@DoesItDoom yeah steve, there's so much potential on both guitar and amp/pedal rolling back the tone. i get a pretty sick 'woman tone' type sound w/my matamp gt1 set dark with max bass boost and a LP w/p90 neck rollback. keep the great ideas coming my man!
Love your channel but that tone is terrible . It’s sounds like a bass synth not a guitar. How could anyone hear that in a mix? Just my opinion but it didn’t sound like a guitar.

All classic Acid King is definitely Drop-D. Muff + Les Paul neck pickup combo gets pretty heavy. Same thing with Weedeater in D-Standard.
