    Thank you for the tip to reduce/avoid the bend in the cross lashings. Just wrapped my first toki with a square top and got some bend accumulation toward the end. Salvaged it with some thin super glue that permeated the lashing and helped the last few wraps stay seated neatly. But next time I will try the arrowhead top shape and wrapping less tightly around the whip. 🤙😊

    i would love to see a video on different styles of the top lashing points and how the geometry of it affects the lashing. I've started making some of these out of wood and would love to see the pros and cons of the different styles. keep up the good work!

      Good thought. I'll put it on my list and see what I come up with.

      What are the different lashing points and styles you have in mind or are interested in?

      @@CampbellCarving I'm not entirely sure (sorry I know that's not helpful). I've been using pintrest a lot for shapes and see a lot of variations. for example the "shoulders" I see some that are more proud, some that are shorter or longer. or the top like yours that has an arrow shape, I've seen carved tops as well as flat and round. Sorry I don't know much of the terminology on this stuff.

    My hubby has just started making carving and we're both learning the lashings etc. Im unable to find Nautilus online for the soft braid. Your help would be awesome. Loving your very helpful videos

    Cheers for the cool videos. I’d also be keen to see other methods/styles of lashing. I have a long skinny greenstone that’s braid snapped. So I went to Cauldwells and picked up some waxed thread. I purchased both 1mm and 1.2mm. Would like to do something similar to what you’ve done in this video. But not sure if it will work without the notch’s cut into the side.

      You do need the notches for a toki lashing, there are a few other lashing videos on my channgel, or get in touch through facebook.

    Hey awesome work mate... I was wandering... for a cylindric jade without noches and with silver wire... can I do this work? If I can I will love to know how to! Thanks

      Sounds interesting. I have not worked with silver wire much other than to make a few earring hooks. What do you mean by cyclindric jade without notches?

      Campbell Carving its just a cylinder of Jade itself...

    Hi, I'm trying to find a tutorial for a Native American Squaw Wrap finish for a necklace. Are any of your wraps close to this? Your jewellery is so beautiful btw 🙏😍

      No, sorry, not super familiar with that, but what comes up on google image search is a bit different to what I do.

    I solve the problem of the pull through getting out of place by sticking it to the back with sticky tape. Pull off the sticky tape once lashing is complete then do the pull through. Simple no hassle.

    • @CampbellCarving
      @CampbellCarving  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great idea, thanks, I will have to try that.

      I also temporarily tape the 2 loose pull through ends to the top lashing and the neck band. No loose ends anywhere and full concentration on the binding. I must add I used repeat start and pauses on one of your teaching videos to train myself to do my own pieces. Much appreciated for an early beginner. Now I have successfully completed many pieces.

    Kia Ora Bro any tips on how to tie a multi hole Halfmoon style? 7 holes to be exact.

    • @CampbellCarving
      @CampbellCarving  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think i know what you mean, I'm working on something now, be out soon. Try using the same hitch as in the kuru lashing video on my channel. With a double strand on each end added for a three plait

    I really like the look of the braided necklace but I couldn't understand what you called the braid. What is it called and is there a video on how to produce that braid ?

    • @CampbellCarving
      @CampbellCarving  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is commercially produced by a company where I live called nautilus. I think they call it basic 8 braid or something like that.
