I think it's quite simply a case of most RPG fans don't like r'n'b especially not Leona Lewis. It's traditionally a Japanese originated genre of game and so most RPG fans would appreciate the music to be of that nature as well whether its an asian singer, an in-house rock band like The Black Mages or some sort of classical composition. Personally I think the Japanese theme song is a bit too poppy / mainstream sounding for a Final Fantasy game and I actually liked the pop songs in X-2.
Playing the game now, I really don't understand how they could use that Leona Lewis song for the game, while it has it's generalized themes, I really just dont how they could feel that "My Hands" captures FFXIII at all.
My Hands is not a bad song. However, I don't feel that it captures the mood of the game at all. And that "crappy jpop" that you guys were talking about are beautiful japanese arrangements that have gathered a HUGE fanbase -_- Japanese lyrics didn't stop the masses from appreciating the previous songs :p and just because the lyrics are similar doesn't constitute Leona Lewis' song as a good replacement.
totally agree.! leona's song totally doesn't fit the whole FF theme..i was watching a preview of the US/UK release and i really don't like it... I'm hoping that Final Fantasy 13 will have the option of using the japanese version just like what street fighter 4 did where you can hear the characters speak in Japanese and you hear the EXILE theme song instead of the english theme song.
Wow... don´t get me wrong... I love Japanese songs... I love japanese music... but Leona Lewis's version has a way better syncronization. Also the chorus in "My Hands" fits perfectly with Snow's and Serah's relationship. Anyway this trailer revealed more than I wanted... kinda spoils allot of the story which I should only see while playing. Unlike the English trailer which is kinda vague. Just my two cents :)
@HmongYou2Tube Thanks man. But that's what I'm saying, I love Final Fantasy and can't wait for 13. But it's like all the comments on this page are proof people fit the stereotype of what I'm talking about. Rather than just WAIT AND SEE they dismiss it now and rather import a Japanese copy (essentially making more money for Sqaure Enix you idiots!). Everyone saying it's typical R&B well the original song is the most generic, typical & crappy J-Pop we've heard for years.
ehh i'm kinda disappointed with leona lewis' song. =\ i'd much rather prefer "kimi ga iru kara" i don't think "my hands" first FFXIII as well. it's kinda like if KH wasn't done by utada hikaru. it'd be weird. D:
i heard leona's song just there now and its crap it just doesnt suit the whole final fantasy theme i would either prefer having it as kimi ga iru kara or an english version of it any way but square enix must have a good enough reason to put leon lewis' song onto the UK & USA theme tune which i personally (considering all of the past final fantasy songs) think that it has killed it ive got nuthin against leona lewis but the song and FF just doesnt work 2gether!
I never have liked the J-Pop they pick for FF....well the one for X was good and the one for 8 was pretty good... Other then that they just seem to detract from the mood of the game.
6:44 "hanase (離せ)" was translated as "speak (話せ)' while I think it should be "let go" (of the girl) in this situation. ^^; thanks for the upload.
Leona Lewis' song is fine and it fits the game. its a powerful song :)
the battle style is awesome, probably the best of ff's battle system =v=
@Bala666 ay ay ay, that was not CRAP! maybe you don't like the fact that that's the song for the western verison, but it's an awesome song.
